the darkside gives you power and the lightside gives you knowlege, both are basicaly even.

Palpatine argues that the darkside gives you a more complete knowledge as you research both sides of the force, so your argument is flawed.
And Yoda was equal to Sideous. It is hinted that he realized that he had to live, and could not risk being killed. Seeing they were equals, it could have come to that...

I think Yoda speaks the truth. The dark-side gives a boost, but experience may well add up for that - as we see in OBW vs. Anakin/Vader...

when you say obi-wan vs anakin (vader), if you mean ep3, anakin had only just learned how to use the dark side and obi-wan had been a jedi and learned for years, anakin only decided to use dark side powers and forgot about the lightside powers so that is probably why obi-wan beat him. in ANH, obi-wan and vader had gotten equal abilities and age so it was basicaly a draw.
