Mmmm mmmm soap. Nothing is serious in there, and if you seriously take offense, than you need to grow thicker skin, being this is a pg-13 board.

From what I have read, MsLanna, I think you STudy Duty is very good.

No offence, but That seems a bit unfair. Because they take pride on their work there is no need to go making silly comments and accusations. If they wish to make up their own fan fiction, good for them. There is no need to mack them for it.

Thanks. I'm never sure where to place it. Writing children is the horror.[face_plain]

Also, I think the real problem is the assumption that everybody shares their kind of humour and considers it the best invetion since the wheel.

Any kind of lenght. 100 words is a drabble already. Everything longer is possible.
I think 15k is between short story and not-yet-epic. [face_thinking]
I am bad with classifications. [face_blush]

How can you forget you wrote a story?

    It was five years ago.

Can anyone put a story in FanFic?

I assume I would have to Break the chapters down: Currently one chapter is 7 half sides of A4, using double pageing

What'd double pageing? Do you mean there's a free line between the lines? Or that it's seven apges printed on both sides?

And five years is no time to forget about something like that.[face_not_talking]

    Sorry.

Any way this is double page:

    [image=http://i41.tinypic.com/2vd31hv.jpg]

Just imagine whole text ob both sides. And that is an A4 Page.

    Okay, got it.
It's up to you in the end. I know of stories that have updates of that length, while other authors feel more comfortable splitting long chapters and posting them in two or more parts.

Everyone. Just because you star out words doesn't mean that what you said is TOS acceptable. A flame is a flame, no matter how witty, or true, or disguised it is. Let's stop making assumptions about each other.

Also, for the record. Maybe we're all on different pages. But I know as a JCCer, I'm not a Fanfic person. But I know about Fanfic quite well (not on these boards). I think we're all going to have to get a little more down to earth and accept things for what they are. Fanficers spend their spare time writing fictional and often times sappy women's terrible romance novel style stories. Don't tell me it's not true. You guys do it. You also write other stuff too that's NOT in that stereotype. So let's just take a step back and embrace it. Embrace the fictional characters and awesome/good/medium/poor writing skills. From one point of view, yes it's pathetic - I'm not going to deny an argument there. But from that same point of view, you can take ANY hobby that someone has and say it's pathetic. I play World of Warcraft. Some people draw furry porn. Some people are forum addicts. Some like to shoot up heroin. Some like to dance naked in front of mirrors. Some read comics. Some go biking. Etc. Etc. The point is - IT'S NOT A BAD THING IF YOU ENJOY IT. We allllll do something(s) that others would look down upon, or has a bad reputation, or whatever. Nothing wrong with it.

That being said. Everyone just chill out. We also all have different senses of humor, and let's not crap on that. JCC humor is an acquired taste (one that I find more common in the real world than online). Although it comes across as crude and senseless, learning to adapt to JCC humor will probably be one of the most vital life skills you could gain. So just deal with it.

    Well said, Tif.

Thing is... in real life, you are more likely to encounter JCC-like behaviour. We are more down to earth, I guess.

An example... you walk up to some people in real life, and tell them about the "amazing" fanfic you wrote about a torrid love affair between Yoda and Yaddle. Chances are, you are going to get an "Um... what?" and laughter before somebody in real life says, "YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!! :) :) :) :) :) I'm so excited! Here, Ima smack you with a talented writer pillow!! :D "

    Seriously.

That being said, I write a hell of a lot, I know how important it is. I know how it is to pour yourself into a piece of work. Thing is, I generally write about actual events that have happened in my life, or when writing fiction, I come up with my own characters. Coming up with characters is a huge challenge. You have to account for every aspect of a human being... make them human, create life, you know? I think the reason fanfic isn't taken seriously by anybody but people who also write fanfic, is the most important and difficult aspect of writing fiction, creating life (your characters), gets skipped. For this huge reason, it's difficult for me to take it seriously. It's not meant to insult anybody, just me, a writer, being completely honest.

We do create our own characters though. That's an OC in fanfiction. We add our own characters to the story to make it AU and come up with our storylines. Not always, but about half the time. I may write alot of fanfiction, but in that fanfiction are many characters I created myself, some guided by existing characters, others totally off the wall where on would say 'where did that one come?'

I write stories completely original too, but don't have enough motivations to actually write a book. It's not that I couldn't but the world of fanfiction holds my attention span longer because I like exploring already existing characters and having them interact with my OCs.

And that's fine, but you can't expect people, especially people who write, to take fanfiction as seriously as completely original fiction, you know? I realize that it's a hobby that you enjoy, and that's cool, but I would try to not be so offended when people snicker at you.

I realize this. I try not to get offended personally, it's just when people bash fanficcers in general that it upsets me. I am just a sensitive person, especially when it comes to people I know getting hurt in some form. As long as it stops here though, like SLG said it would, I'll be fine. Typically I don't have to worry about it
