    Greetings All Sentient Beings,
While I have not even touched the new Saga Edition of the SW-RPG I was wondering if there was any word on a KOTOR sourcebook officially. Or if there was anything online that would prove valuable. My dream game would be to set a game during this time period. Thanks for the info.

    *cries too*
    I don't like the Saga edition... :(
But more I think about it...it might be worth it...just for KOTOR era play...

I want to see some stats! Ebon Hawk, Zayne, Gryph, etc.

I've heard similar rumors, but not for ROG Sourcebook; for the upcoming Vector comics. Star Destroyers influence the look of later KOTOR vessels like Leviathan and Ravenger... I'm not sure if it's 100% sure, though.

What's everyone's problem with saga? What's so bad about not having to roll 27 times for every little thing and not having to micromanage a million little skill ranks?

Oh well, i guess it will be like the d6 vs d20 argument someday. Some folks will stick with their old systems, the rest will make the conversion, and new players will decide for themselves.

I just think that the Saga edition is way too simplified. It takes the joy of RPG I'm used to.
I don't think that the conversion between 2000 and 2002 rulebooks was bad because they just added some new stuff, changed some problematic issues etc. But in Saga edition, hey basically changed the whole system.
But even though I don't like it, might start using it just for the KOTOR guide's sake.

The date has been announced for the Campaign Guide it can be preordered.

I like Saga too, but I can see why some gamers dislike it.

Aaaand I can't wait for this sourcebook. :)

Regardless of whether or not you like Saga, you've got to admit that the KotoR cover is sexy! ;)

    True. :)

For this book, I might even start playing the Saga edition. [face_thinking] I've been reading through the rulebook, I guess I'll just have to get used to some things.

See, as a GM, I like the simplified rules of both SWSE and D&D 4E. With simpler rules to work with, you spend more time roleplaying and less time doing math. Compared to RCR and 3.5, my adventure prep time has pretty much been cut in half, and most of that time is spent on developing NPC personalities and story events rather than crunching numbers and building stat blocks.

As a player in SWSE, I like that the classes don't railroad you like they did in RCR. Y'know, all scoundrels got this that and the other features. All nobles are like this and all Jedi are either Guardians or Consulars, no mixture allowed. That's also a good thing as a GM too, I suppose. In RCR, I normally wouldn't allow more than one player to select the same class, because the two characters would be virtually identical except for species. With SE however, the whole party could be soldiers, but each select a different combination of talents and feats, making them unique and different from one another.

That was a bit off-topic, so I'll bring it back here at the end.

    KOTOR SOURCEBOOK!!! WOOO!!! [face_dancing]

As I SWRPG player, I like both SE and RCR, although I wan't happy when there was no Tech Specialist. I see how you like that the Scoundrels have more options, that's great.
I don't see that much difference in the edition, except some change of the rules and I guess that's just an issue of people adapting to new stuff. But new SE sourcebooks are gonna be great, so I'm all for that.

As a DM, I prefer v3.5 any time than 4E. It was more organized, I felt the rules were clearer and I was more comfortable with running a game, from the start. I loved changing from 3E to 3.5, but 4E isn't so good. I think it is missing lots. So even though I bought book and ran a couple of adventures, I'll be going back to the old system.
As a DnD player, I dislike it even more because they threw away the classes I liked the most and changed the stuff in the wizard I liked the most. Yes, the wizard is now quite powerful, but with those at will powers only useful thing in combat become Magic Missile and it's rather boring doing that all the time.

    Interesting crunchy bits in KOTOR.

    * Lots of new feats and talents that make multiattacking more viable, from Accelerated Strike (feat that lets you get a full attack for a standard + swift once per encounter) to Dual Weapon Flourish II (Melee Duelist PrC talent that lets you get all of your (many) attacks with a dual weapon or pair of weapons for a standard action, all the time. There are a metric ****-load of prereqs to get to that point, so I don't mind that.

    * On a related note, there are a bunch of things that make it harder to withdraw.

    * A bunch of melee talents for Noble, including Noble Fencing Style, which lets you use CHA instead of STR for your attack bonus, which also makes a Noble level dip attractive for Jedi. It's also very easy to conceptualize a Noble/Jedi/Melee Duelist/JK/JM build for Makashi style duelists like Dooku.

    * As if the Fortune tree wasn't good enough, Lucky Stop is awesome: Once per encounter, negate all damage from an attack that would otherwise reduce you to zero HP, as a free reaction.

    * Hyperspace Explorer talent tree makes Scouts attractive for spacers. Vehicle Stealth in particular is a gem for smugglers (treat any vehicle you're piloting as if it were two size categories smaller for purposes of Stealth - my Ghtroc 720 looks like an A-Wing)

    * Some more advanced Battle Meditation talents, but still not all the way to where it needs to be.

    * There's a feat (prereq BAB +9) that increases your crit range to 19-20 in exchange for two consecutive swift actions in the same round as the attack.

I don't see anything that screams "broken" but I do see a lot of things which are really, really cool.

Very cool. I'll be picking up that book ASAP. I was going to buy a copy at the Wizards booth at GenCon, but they were sold out on day one (and I didn't get to the exhibit hall until day two).
