Wanted to get an event planning thread started for the first half of the year anyway. Most of these events will have their own dedicated planning thread eventually. There’s really nothing new or unexpected, a lot of it will look familiar to past years. Just wanted to give people the chance to think, plan ahead or add any new events they think may be of interest.

    February

    March
March 1 One Man Star Wars Show (already a planning thread up for anyone interested)
March 1-3 ConNooga-Convention in Chattanooga but several LGA members usually attend. Note GOH Daniel Logan
    http://www.connooga.com/
March 16-17 Lexington Comic show-this con got rave reviews in it’s first year last year and this year they have even more Star Wars guests. So of course I have to work this weekend…but I hope the LGA will be well represented.

    April
April 5-7 Conglomeration- I have to work this weekend (yes, once again) but I’m still planning on the traditional LGA Friday night room get together. However this is not the slam dunk it usually is, when I put in to get the Friday off I found out this is JCPS Spring Break and other Co-Workers have already put in their vacation.
    http://www.conglomeration.info/

    May
May 4 FCBD (Free Comic Book Day)-It looks like I’ll actually be off this weekend so unless something happens I’m planning on begging for a table at my comic shop if anyone wants to join me. Note that FCBD, May the Fourth and Derby all fall on the same day this year.
May 18-19 Wonderfest- It seems I have to work all the fun weekends this year and Wonderfest is once again no exception. But anyone that can go should check out the awesome models by the LGA’s own award winning Jammies!
    http://www.wonderfest.com/
Star Wars Where Science Meets Imagination starts May 25 and runs through Sept 2 (already a planning thread up)

    June
June 29 Derby City Comic Con-a local con but really more focused on the comic industry rather than media guests
    http://www.derbycitycomiccon.com/

    July
July 26-28 Fright Night Film Fest-I don’t care for the organizer or how gaming and costuming are treated like step children but he does bring in the big names. Worth watching to see what guests are announced.
    http://www.frightnightfilmfest.com/

That takes us through the first half of the year and a little more. Of course there are always our Book Club meetings and other self organized events to look forward to as well. And of course later in the year we have the 3-D releases of AOTC and ROTS to look forward to.

Anything for the first half of the year I’ve forgotten?
Any activities or events anyone wants to create or take charge of?

I've really been itching to play some more X-Wing Miniature games. Appo,Vox, and I had talked about linked scenarios (the results of one game determine the start of the next, etc). Maybe that could be something we do during the winter months?

As for Wonderfest: Snap-Tites. Kriffing Snap-Tites.

I agree with you on Fright Nest but they have already announced Stan Lee and (Sorry for crossing party lines) William Shatner!

Absolutely, that's what this thread is for. I just didn't put them on the calendar since they don't have set dates.

    Mika,

Would you be offended if I put up the respective dates and web links for these if they are available? I want to have something of a one stop shop when Brandy and I talk about which ones we may be able to try to go to this year.

Whoops, sorry I missed this post mindtwister...that's absolutely fine. Or I can edit the top post and insert them if you wish.

Bad news looks like Ep 2 and Ep3 are postponed with no future release date.

    http://starwars.com/news/focusing-o...casfilm-postpones-episodes-ii-and-iii-3d.html

Really weird. I would have thought they would already be close to done. I was really looking forward to pulling out my Dooku costume :(

The more I think about it the more I think this is about Dollars and Disney. TPM 3D only made $45 mil in the US and worldwide total $102 mil. If Lucas were still in charge I think we would still be getting the Ep 2 and 3 3D movies this Fall.

The 3D films got shelved due to them allocating funds and resources into Ep VII. Which, in my opinion, is fine. 3D movies are garbage as far as I'm concerned. It did nothing to enhance Ep I but make everything all fuzzy and blurry. Which, yeah uh... Put me to sleep. If they wanted to prerelease the movies.... Do it normal like.

Well the thing is I don't think Disney/LFL is short of either funds or resources. I agree I'm not a fan of the 3D treatment, I'm just sad that's two less opportunities for all of us to get together and watch some Star Wars on the big screen this Fall.

Just FYI as a weekend follow up just confirming I'm not going to be doing the room party thing for ConGlomeration.

Reminder this weekend is the Lexington Comic Con. Say hi to Billy Dee and Peter Mayhew.

Yeah I think next year this event will need it's own thread. Word is they are expanding to be even bigger (again) next year and are taking all of the convention center.

Hey... idea. [face_idea] Should the LGA think about a table for Lexicon next year?

Unfortunately we're out for Conglom and Free Comic Book Day this year. :(

We're on for Wonderfest though. [face_batting]

And we're really looking forward to the "Star Wars Where Science Meets Imagination" troop. [face_dancing]
