That's how I pronounce it too. So then how are Tahiri & Tenel Ka announced? A lot of the names of EU characters can be hard to pronounced.

What about Jaina? I say Jay-nuh, but a friend says Jan-uh. Which one is correct?

    How about Vergere?

    Is it Ver-jar or Ver-jeer?

So I've been pronouncing it wrong for years? Mah-ra Jay-de just sounds weird to me.

Why does it sound weird? Personally I think it flows quite nicely–it would be harder for me to pronounce May-ra Jay-de than Mah-ra Jay-de.

there are plenty of people named Mara, even in the Bible. It means bitter.

Well, Mahr-ah Jay-de would certainly sound weird considering Jade is a single-syllable name/word. Pronounced just like the gem.

    I've always pronounced it "ver-ger-ee"

    With a hard g.

According to the NEGTC pronunciation key it's "vur-JAIR."

Since I have the book out:

MAH-rah jade (one syllable, long A--"jade" not "jay-dee")

    tah-HEE-ree
    TEH-nel kah

    JAY-nah

Jonathan Davis pronounces both syllables in Vergere's name as rhyming with "air." But then the original Heir to the Empire audio book pronounced Executor wrong.
