Gd Rapids, MI New name suggestions

At yesterday's meeting we discussed changing the Grand Rapids Fan Force name, but I wanted to make sure it was okay with the higher ups. I got the go ahead from Drk Father1. The first two names were suggested yesterday and the others I got from the GRFF archives. If anyone has any ideas, please post them here.

Here is the list so far:

The Revolting Rapidians
Rapid Resistance
Grand Rapids Separatists
Grand Moff Rapids
The Droids of Grand Rapids
GR Death Star

 

GR Death Star .... humh I think that was on of the front runner the first time we brought this up when bultar swan was still around.

Anywho ... I like that one the best ... GR Death Star

 

no offense but the Death Star is just that - the Death Star -
I think it would be more fun, and catchy, to try to incorporate where we are, what city and area of the country we represent and GR doesn't really spell it out (pun intended). but hey, that's just me.
Having said that I offer:
the Grand Rapids Outer Rim
and the West Side of the Force

and for fun I do like (as we all chuckled on Sunday) The Revolting Rapidians - but perhaps to link it more clearly with Star Wars:
The Revolting Rebel Rapidians or vice versa.

 

Here's one I put out last time:
(Wampa)

WMPA : West Michigan Padawan Academy...

It fits the nice cold winters we have here in Michigan.

I like that name H_E_Dbl_GIMER_Sticks. Yes, would like to see you at a meeting sometime.

lovelucas-The west side of the force is already taken by Los Angeles, CA.

But I thought of a couple names using the force. Grand Rapids Force Users or GR Force Users. Not as cute as Wampa but hey I'm trying. We could always use Grand Rapids Fan Force because its simple and easy to remember.

 

I came to the first ever meeting a long while ago.

Since I'm in Lansing, it's a bit of a drive, so I need to plan it.
Plus with having 2 young kids, I have to coordinate the night out with my wife's schedule too.
I keep trying to make it to another meeting...

I was hoping to come over with my kids to the ballpark day but we were WAY overbooked that weekend.


BTW: This is my Halloween sock. Regular name is just GIMER.

 

I gotcha. That is a long way to come but you are always welcome. Hopefully you can make the toy show and Griffins game in December.

 

I'm all for GR Death Star, and as for the GR part not being universally recognizable, it only has to be in Michigan and some nearby areas. Plus it's catchy, and not so...revolting.

 

Last time I suggested "GR Jedi" so I think the GR part is recognizable to people in, well, Grand Rapids.

I like how R2Detroit put their town in it, and they got a cool logo. GR Death Star is cool to.

GR Jedi doesn't seem to have a flow to it.
GR Death Star is better.

Remember that it doesn't have to be just Grand Rapids.
I believe there were people coming from all over west michigan.

we are fans from Michigan not a noun.

perhaps a play on Palpatine's words: "I will build a grand army of the republic"?

I still think revolting is funny and the use of a double entendre is always clever.

I can't imagine why M1B4K4TIES would like the Death Star name.

 

How about Darth Grandville Mall(Maul)?

 

and so far the only people coming to the meetings have been from Grand Rapids except our fearless leader who is a tad further south.

I don't feel it's an imperative to include Grand Rapids as part of the name but I think we should somehow indicate where we are - the majority of other fanforces do indeed indicate their city in their name...sometimes followed by a humorous byline - (as in Hoosier Daddy)

 

I thought there were a few coming over from Holland, but maybe that was just the first few.

 

I'm from Holland, in fact Gimer I think I might have met you when I went to the one and only meeting I ever went to.

So seeing is how I'm not really an active member, I'm not trying to "force" a name decision one way or another. Just making conversation and decided to do a couple quick ideas for fun. I noticed other forums have logos and sayings and stuff.

 

Nope nobody from Holland at the meetings. Would like to see you from Holland though.

Keep suggesting names even though you don't come to the meetings. And GIMER and pretender this has brought you back here to post though.

 

I'm not trying to force anything either, just giving out some suggestions and trying to be a part of something even though it is hard for me to get to the meetings.

 

Hi all. Kendall student and newbie here in the forum. Thought I might throw out this little tidbit: There is a memorial on the grounds of the Michigan Capitol to the (this is word-for-word) "Grand Army of the Republic."

As for the name:
-Grand Army of the Rap-public (might be too vague)
-the already mentioned Grand Admiral Rapids and Grand Moff Rapids

Cant think of any more for the time being...

The name has been changed as of 12/3. Most people liked GR Death Star, so thats what we will be called from now on.
