When you see an official doing a game for your team, which crew do you get excited for? Which do you kind of dread seeing?

Favorite crew: Has to be Ed Hochuli.

Least Favorite: Not quite sure but mostly Ron Winter.

I'm convinced Ed Hochuli has the only competent team in the NFL.

However, compared to their college counterparts, NFL officials are geniuses.

The words "good" and "referee" should never be used in the same sentence.

Walt Coleman was once 2nd behind Osama Bin Laden on California's most hated people list.

Favorite: Ed Hochuli (Because he could probably crush me with his bare hands if I said anything otherwise)

Soooooo, what's your solution? Put fans on the field to call plays? Human error happens, it just does. There is no way to get around that.

Officiating, in almost all cases, is adequate or above. If a official is found to make to many bad calls, the league will suspend/fire them. There's really not a whole lot more that can be done to make the system more efficient. If someone can think of something plausible that they think will make the system better, by all means, post it.

Well, the argument of making them full time comes to mind. Lots of study in the off season, heck have them 'officiate' practice games held by the teams during spring training and the like. Practice won't get rid of all the errors, but it might stop some of them. *shrugs*

    Seriously...

Refs make mistakes, but it is not like they are trying to make horrible calls. Give them a break.

Don't get me wrong, I've been pissed many times at a horrible call, and I think that the league should do all they can to make the game as fair as free, but I sometimes tend to forget that these Officials are humans just like I am, and are trying their best in what are sometimes impossible situations.

Some people just dislike officials as a whole. It has nothing to do with them making mistakes or wanting them off the field. It's just a dislike. Especially considering most Umpires in baseball have a holier than thou attitude. Which drives me nuts.
