Where do you think the best places are for us collectors? What stores are the most current and stuff. I have been looking and here in Orange it is a bit tough to find newer items. What about where you're at?

 

personaly i love going to Cosmic Comics. I don't tend to look for anything new or old...just rare. if i see something i've never seen before at a store i'll wait a week...look around for it online and at stores where my friends work (toys'r'us). If i don't find it again or if online it's marked "rare" or "special edition" i break the bank to get it. Given, breaking the bank generally means getting down on my knees in front of my parents, but you know...whatever works for you. COsmic Comics is in South Coast Plaza over by Sears and the McDonalds. I also tend to go to the Star Wars store at Disneyland. They generaly have your typical Toys'r'us finds there but every once and a while you can find some really top quality action figures, like my 12 inchers. those will be worth big buck in 20-30 years. Also...pillage the weekend garage sales...I just snagged over a $100 worth of stuff for a good $15. the guy was screaming that he'd sell everything he had for a 6 pack of beer. i aske for the Star Wars toys and the rest is history. Even look thru your own garges. my brother found $1400 worth of old baseball cards when he moved out last month...that's as good as finding gold in your back yard! better even cuz in 10 years he's planning to sell then 1 by 1 to the highest bidder on ebay. it all has to do with what your interested in. start small. i started books...now i have more than half of all the SW books ever written(i have a list of them in the essential guide to characters). then i moved on to comic books and action figures...soon when i wanted to get a certain action figure it came with a ship...and so i started collecting ships. just fond someplace to start and if ur serious enough about it then you'll find your own ways of getting the collectables you want.


oh...and 1 last tip...everything is collectable. in 1982 there was a big collectable line of talking action figures...right now that stuff is worth just as much as you paid for it in the 80's but all of the original 1977 action figures +boxes are worth 10-12 times as much as you paid for them when you were 6 years old.(don't ever throw away the boxes).

I found the Target Exclusives Accessory Packs today at the following Target locations: Yorba Linda, Orange, and the one off of Lincoln Ave in Anaheim. Just wanted to pass this info on. Also They were 9.99 each.

Also there are alot of Palpatines at Kay bee in the Orange mall. For those who are looking for him.

 

If anyone see's or finds the Padme' Unleashed Figure. Please let me know where you found it at. Also If you pick me one up I will buy it from you at cost at the meeting on Sunday.

 

In case anyone is looking for the Unleashed Padme' for themselves. They have them at the KB Toys in the Brea mall. I will be picking mine up tonight! =)

 

Wow... well i have over 175 action figures. Maybe someday I'll get around to catagorizing them all. FOr the New AOTC Series action figures, i have #1-40 every single one. I finally found Yoda and Dooku at Comic Con. I was having a lot of trouble with them.

 

Ok I am asking for a volunteer. Who would like to be our Director of Collecting. If you're interested please let me know.

 

What exactly would that position entail?
I am curious and possibly interested, but would like to know what being the director of collecting would require me to do and stuff.

 

Found the Action Fleet 'Tie-Advanced' at Walmart in Anaheim. When I opened hatch to cockpit, I expected a Darth Vader figure inside, but there was none (no mention of Darth Vader anywhere on packaging). Luckily I had a tiny Vader that came with the Escape Pod set from Micro-Machines (pod, with mini R2d2, C3PO, Vader and 2 sandtroopers) that fit perfectly!

I saw these already. The Kay-bee in the brea mall has these. They also usually get their shipments in on Friday morning. So Friday afternoon is the best time to check there.

I made my (quasi) weekly Target Trip today

Being only 5 mins from my house, it's my favorite place to shop. I also go to Toys R Us, Kay-Bee, Walmart and on ocassion,K-mart, although i am usually really dissappointed with their selections/display/prices, etc.

I finally gave in and purchased the vehicals to go with my action figures.

If you are into the action figures, the vehicals are awesome, but more expensive. The Jedi Star Fighter, I think is the coolest vehicle currently easily available. The two speeders and the Slave I are cool, but no where near the Star fighter. Although it does come with like 20 little stickers that are really annoying because most of the are in the cockpit and really hard to place accurately.

I also got two deluxe figures, AOTC: C-3PO with Droid Factory Assembly Line! It's okay. The threepio figure is better than the one with the removable plating, i think, but overal, i just don't really understand why they decided to make it. Basically you set the droid (which is red) and Threpio up and then us the magnetic arm to swap their heads. You do it once and then you're like... um... okay.... well, now what. that was dumb. But it does look cool when set up.
