Hard to imagine there was never any discussion about that. I thought in the Rako Hardeen arc that Mace's suspicion toward Rex when he was running interference for Anakin while guarding Palpi was a dead give away.

Went back and watched the crappy episode with the poisoned tea... and I believe one of the Mandalore guards was deflecting blaster shots, at very close range, with his staff. Hasn't Grievous done so as well a couple times in the series? It was one thing when Jedi that "could see things before they happen" could be guided by the Force as to where to place their blade, but it's another if the bolts are traveling slow enough that someone without the Force can still do it to some extent, when only a matter of several feet away. Seems like Nazis with their bolt action rifles and machine gun nests of over half a century ago would fair better in the Star Wars universe in infantry combat than the actual forces of a Galaxy wide political state with ships that can travel faster than the speed of light.

Part of me would think that perhaps projectile weapons would not do adequate damage to a droid chassis or penetrate the clones' armor, and thus slower ammunition that can burn through armor would be a tradeoff, but then I remember the Ewoks...

Clone armor seems less effective at protecting the wearer than the thin cage of magnesium alloy on the lid that protects the screen my Thinkpad. I'd be shocked if I couldn't penetrate it with a modern handgun.

I can live with Solo slicing a Taun Taun, or Boba getting clowned by Vader... but gg deflecting blaster bolts? Epic fail.

He already did this at the end of "The Deserter" anyways. He is dangling from the rope and deflecting blaster bolts anyways.

I do not get why it is a problem. There are more fails with clones or Jedi to be fair.

Honestly I don't really have a problem with it. People like to forget that regular human beings are pretty helpless bags of flesh and most creatures best us. Grievous is not most creatures. An alien cyborg like Grievous or some of these aliens species being able to deflect blaster bolts. Grievous could certainly be fast enough or have the senses to do such a thing. Regular humans are different.
