San Fran, CA SFFF Picnic

This was brought up at the last meeting, but would anyone be interested in having a picnic, say in August? Different locations were discussed, but here's a spot at Crissy Field that I went to with some co-workers. The restrooms are located behind the small building pictured below:

It has great views of the city, the GG Bridge and the Bay. There's also a lot of room for kite flying, playing catch, etc. We'd have to bring a grill though. I think the areas next to the sandy areas have grills already, but I don't want sand blowing at usall day. What say you? Any other ideas for locations?

Rinconada Park in Palo Alto. Been there many times while growing up.

You know, even though it would be a slightly longer drive, I'm rather partial to the Endor-theme location. I think it's a great idea for a Star Wars group picnic.

 

Last time I checked there were still some Sunday picnic spots open but we would have to pay for it. It is very nice up there though. We used to go camping there all the time when I was a kid.

I like Dales idea better. Matt,there is alot of wind in that area. However what ever you decide, I will be there. Pot luck sounds good only if Robert is grilling the ribs. I am bringing container for the left overs. And I am not sharing.

 

i'm down for wherever! who wants to go in on buying the meat with me? i'm thinking sausages/ribs/chicken wings. i can marinade them and buy them from costco, just PM me and let me know if you'd like to pitch in so we can get a lot

Crystal Springs Park by your area Matt sounds great in San Bruno. We had our last picknic with Chanel there for Josephs birthday in 2003. There are barbeque pits, bathrooms, it is realativelly cozy, huge trees to block the wind, walking paths and you can drive right up to the table almost. But what ever you decide is fine with me. The location would be more accessible for those of us who are coming from afar and for the Sf crowd, it is a 10 minute ride south on 280/Crystal springs/ Sneath exits. 280 south, Crystal springs left(east), down the hill about 1/2 mile and the park is on your right hand side and visible from the road.

 

Maybe the picnic could be out meeting in August Matt?

Yes, I was just thinking that, Lou. It doesn't really make sense for us to have a meeting separate from a picnic, since we'll be together anyway.

But we need to determine a DATE! Lou, can you double check on that "event" in August, so we won't have the picnic on the same date. We should determine a date and location by this weekend, I think.

I would be free the 12th or 19th. The weekend before labor day is not as good since I'll probably be rushing to finish things for the convnetion. The weekend of the 5th I'm out of town too.

Hopefully most of you guys can wait to get your comic-con schwag until then? Otherwise you've gotta drive out to Los Gatos.
