Short notice

Since people have told me that the Latin title is confusing and rather stupid, I'm now changing the title of Star Wars: Undae Locorum Inferiorum to it's English translation, Star Wars: Waves of the Dark Side.

So it's your own stang faults that it's an "of the" title.

I read the English title a few times, and looked at you message that said, its your own fault that you got a "of the" in the title, or something along those lines. Then I looked at the title again confused. And indeed it did say, "Star Wars: Waves of the Darkside. Now I think thats a pretty good title, BUT I think its a bit to long? and doesn't NEED the "of the" So I was going to suggest. (If you don't mind...) Star Wars: Waves of Darkness, or however you spell Darkness. Its just a little shorter ad quicker to the point? But if you like your one, I like it too.

Just for argument's sake:
Waves of the Dark Side = 5 syllables

The Empire Strikes Back = 5 syllables

Attack of the Clones = 5 syllables

The Phantom Menace = 5 syllables

Return of the Jedi = a WHOPPING 6 syllables!

And fanfilms, too!

The Empire Strikes Backyard = 6 syllables

American Jedi = 6 syllables

A Question of Faith = 5 syllables

Even the simply named Duality = 4 syllables!


Raise the roof for long titles, lest I mention Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me (9 syllables)

 

Whilst you make an excellent point, let me respond just to prolong this pointless argument (pointless cos you can call your film whatever you want to - personally I like the latin)

Just for argument's sake:
Waves of the Dark Side = 5 words

The Empire Strikes Back = 4 words

Attack of the Clones = 4 words

The Phantom Menace = 3 words

Return of the Jedi = 4 words

And fanfilms, too!

The Empire Strikes Backyard = 4 words (good film too)

American Jedi = 2 words

A Question of Faith = 4 words

Even the simply named Duality = 1 word

 

Dam, it was just a suggestion. I said you could call it whatever you want. Touchy touchy.

MOM'S FRIEND: *glassy eyed stare* is that French (or Russian or Japanese or Greek)?

ME: It's Latin, it mea-

MOM'S FRIEND: and what does it mean?

ME: Waves of the Dark Side.

MOM'S FRIEND: ... Oh... cool... well, keep up the good work, buddy!

I've never seen a problem with having "of the" in the title.

It didn't bother me when I watched Revenge of the Nerds, History of the World Part I, Kiss of the Spider Woman, Legends of the Fall, Rules of the Game, Invasion of the Body Snatchers, War of the Worlds, Last of the Mohicans, The Treasure of the Sierra Madre (cool Humphrey Bogart flick), and who could forget Revenge of the Teenage Vixens From Outer Space!

And if you have "of the" in the title of your movie, you join the ranks of some of the highest grossing movies of all time. Return of the Jedi and Attack of the Clones of course, Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (double whammy there), Raiders of the Lost Ark, Planet of the Apes, Silence of the Lambs, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Enemy of the State, and last but definitely not least George of the Jungle. These last nine films have accounted for almost 2 billion dollars in box office receipts.



So, personally, I think its a wise move to have "of the" in the title of your film.

 

Wow, ExFilms... Suddenly, I have a totally different POV of the movies that have an "of the" in the title! Yes! You've totally filled me up to the brim with this *****! Argghh! I can't take it anymore....!!

JK , good point there. I mat add, that something of the something are easy titles to understand. Normally one-word titles are more complicated ones that make people think about it... which is cool... but that's not the point... heh, anyway *bows*

Trivia: In Doom Raiders as Brad is being chased by the Fijians, you can hear a snippet of the main GotJ theme!

 

Star Wars: Undae Locorum Inferiorum = 12-13 syllables, i lost count. not to mention no Star Wars film has ever been in latin.

Okay, this thread has become much larger than I ever expected.

THE OFFICIAL TITLE IS NOW: The Fanfilms known alternatively as Waves of the Dark Side or Undae Locorum Inferiorum, depending on what the reader prefers.

A few points
1) Waves of the Dark Side fits the story better than Waves of Darkness

2) If you prefer the latin, but can't take the long pronunciation time, call it SW:ULI (swooly)

3) I can make a neato title sequence where the Latin goes through a wavy fade (think dream sequence) to the english.

 

i reckon u should go with the latin
it's different, and more interesting...the teaser would make ppl who haven't seen this post wonder what it means..
and the dreamy thingo into english would be cooL!
