Lights

Nyota loved the starfield on a clear starry night away from the obscuring cityscapes.

She had loved it since her earliest girlhood on family trips with her folks.

But the starfield was magnificent as she soared in among them, close up, in swirls and eddies of brilliant radiance.

She made quite the picture as the lovely glow of stars caught in her dark eyes.

The evening began like any of a score of others. Teasing and much laughter over dinner and then dancing, even under the half moon. Her sides ached from the laughter & her eyes sparkled as she feasted them on her delectable escort.

"Kashore," Dajan began, looking deeply into her eyes. "I know you could be interested in half a dozen guys, or more. I'm so thrilled you --"

"You're a thousand times better-looking and more fun than any of them." She answered.

He grinned. "I love you." He said. "I have for a very long time."

She melted, even as he plucked a blossom and handed it to her. "You're lovelier even than this flower and --"

Her laugh rippled. "You romantic , you!" She kissed him suddenly. "From anyone else that would be quite the cheesy line. I'm inexplicably crazy about you, too." She winked.

What made the difference to her in that moment is - she knew it wasn't when he spoke such things.

Amanda, and then Nyota, had experienced a stunning surprise. Neither of them had been without would-be hopeful suitors, but neither of them had been stirred to even a slight whisper of interest, much less passion.

When their flawless tastes - eyes, hearts, and minds -- had focused on Sarek, and Spock -- a couple silly, ditzy friends had thought: They won't have a clue you're even interested.

You're taking a big risk. Some had warned. The differences --

Had been found to be exhilarating and amazing! Yes, their prospective romantic partners had had a clue and had reciprocated -- so incredibly beautifully!!

That bond/meld aspect was one of the most thrilling things a lady could experience.

And was blessed and honored to do so.

This is the reason why I like the new Star Trek movie so much. By having Spock be like Sarek in their choice of whom they love, they make the characters have so much depth to pursue that it makes perfect sense in whom they both selected for their lovers.

Wanting

- is surpassed by having, you reflected with an inner chuckle as you related a conversation over morning breakfast rolls and a padd full of "things to do".

"Jan has a true and strong crush going on. It hasn't interfered with her efficiency, but I told her that sometimes once you have what your heart imagines it wants, you find the reality of having falls far short of the dream."

"Ah!" Your love responded, in all seriousness, after taking a long sip of tea. "Are you speaking from experience, then?"

You stifled a laugh as you pretended to consider it. "Well, as a matter of fact --"

His brow quirked at that.

He reached to take both your hands into his, lightly stroking the knuckles. Your connection tingled with the adoration you are feeling, and which is being reciprocated most fabulously.

You finally let go with a low laugh. "With you, my heart, quite the reverse." You hoped your friend could be so fortunate, one day.

"Hmmm."

"Well, and what of you?" You teased.

"I have found it to be the case with you, Nyota. The reality of having you must pale in comparison to all held expectations, since how could one even begin to have known how superlative you actually would be?"

"Oh, you." You whispered, and you have turned into an utter mess of goo.

He kissed your fingers lightly, as he continued: "I love you."

"Of course you do." You quipped, with a note of wonderment. "And I love you, so much!"

"You knew the answer before you asked." He remarked.

"Yes, but I liked hearing it all the same." You smirked.

He squeezed your hands in appreciation and amusement.

All this - talk has made you quite averse to work of any kind.

"Do we have to finish this, now?" You pondered wistfully, in hopes of a denial.

He cupped your chin and leaned in close for a thorough, lingering kiss or two, and then more. "I believe it can - be put off, yes."

You purred low and happily, as he scooped you into a warm, tight hug.

A/N: For this week, a foregleam of something marvy I'm contemplating as a separate fic thread.



Guidance is the theme.

In her personal diary, Amanda wrote of her admiration of Vulcan society and culture. There were some, she was well aware, who were hidebound and very insular in their beliefs, wanting to eschew all outer contacts for fear of contamination with their tenets and ideals.

But most were not. Sarek was a case in point, an exemplary one. Of course, she wasn't biased (LOL!)

Early in their acquaintance, she noted how open he was to new ideas and views, to discussions on varied topics. He didn't just stick to something because it had always been done that way, etc. Logic and restraint were guidposts on a pathway - signposts and lamplit guidances in lieu of rigid to the letter mores.

"I really admire this about Sarek." She had written. "It doesn't hurt that during our conversations I just happen to get lost in those deep, dark eyes of his, and in that rich cappuccino voice of his."

Amanda glanced at what she'd just written. "Did I just put that?" She mused. She thought for a moment about erasing it, but what for?

It was only true.

Sarek is such an interesting individual and his son took after his in that particular trait.

 

Aww!! It's nice to see Sarek through Amanda's eyes. She makes him seem not-stiif.

 

Agree with Nat above. Amanda makes Sarek more than a simple Vulcan; the same way that Nyota makes Spock more as well.

 

Through which indisputable fact we are all - ETERNALLY, AS IN TIME INDEFINITE blessed. !!!!!!!!!!!
