The Star Wars theme had different orchestrations for Episodes IV-VI and I'm just wondering why John Williams didn't do it with the prequels?

The star wars theme is essentially Luke's, leias ,kenobis[force theme]and vaders theme all rolled into one. It's probably because Luke and Leia aren't around in the prequels so the leimotifs needed to change accordingly.

No. He/she's talking about the opening crawl music, which was only recorded once for TPM and used in all three prequel films. I'm assuming it was done to save time/money.

And it's crawl music. It doesn't need to be different.

Why shouldn't it be? Different recordings set up different moods, however minute, for each of the OT films. It's always left a bad taste in my mouth that it wasn't recorded for AOTC and ROTS.

For the OT, I would have to say my favourite orchestration of the theme is ROTJ.
