The main page has a story on the future of CGI and the possibility that actors will someday be replaced by computer graphics. Lucas has stated that he wouldn't ever do it but some actors are worried about it.

I personally think it would be hilarious if those over payed premaddonnas would be replaced by machines but I think people like their celebrity worship too much to accept it.

    Waddya think?

I think it would be very sad if CG actors became the norm. I don't think any amount of CG could come up with a performance close to as good as some of what Pacino, DeNiro or even Hanks has done.

I think it will be a separate genre of film, somewhere between animation and live action. It would mostly be action and sci-fi films since it wouldn't be worth it to make CGI characters just stand around talking in a drama.

I don't want actors completly replaced by CGI either. Real people acting is still what people come to see in most films. It would be though interesting to see if this technology knocks movie stars down a peg or two.

CGI characters have a place if the story calls for them, but they are more expensive to generate than a human actor/actress movements, innuendo. It is the human magical touch that CGI still is unable to duplicate, yet; close, but not yet. :D

There will always be human actors. People thought radio would go out once films and TV came along. Obviously it didn't.

I agree with PJ. It will be interesting to see how well Final Fantasy does.

Human actors won't be replaced simply because there is a whole industry built on celebrities.
