The film is still coming out 12/15. The trailer may only be a theatrical the way they're going. No way they can get a teaser and theatrical out by Thanksgiving at the latest.

    Looks like it is Sept.

Eragon trailer (right click save as)

Nothing even remotely SW-y at all about it.

    Yes, nothing at all.

Damn, I want my own dragon.

I saw the trailer, very good looking movie. I must admit, I'm interested. Kinda reminds me of Dragonheart where a man befriends a dragon.

But theres nothing really controversial about it. Paolini doesnt even try to pretend that Eragon ISNT a variation on ANH. Its more like a loving homage to SW then a blatant rip-off. Theres no pretense to originality in the book and suspect the movie will be no different. I mean it doesnt change the fact that the book is by any standard very well written, so it should go without saying that movie will possibly be very well made. I mean who am I kidding? I love fantasy. If the movie was called " A SW Rip-Off Set In A Medieval Alternate Universe " Id still go see it. And so would you, John and Jane Fantasy Fan. No point in complaining until we've seen the film. Imitation IS the sincerest form of accolade.

It looks second rate to every other recent series, Narnia, HP, LOTR, SW. I had high hopes. It has got to win me over quite a bit now.

Well, the book is an absolutely stellar copycat of ANH. Hopefully the film will be also.

As much as Eragon does take ideas from SW,HP, and LOTR I think it is still a well crafted story with lots of made up mythology and languages. I'm so psyched to see the movie, Saphira looks great!

    Is Saphira the elf girl?

I'm just starting the book so I'm not familar with all of the characters yet.

Nope, Saphira is the dragon. Arya is the elf. The book is great and so is the sequel.

Yes Saphira is the dragon. Stems from Sapphire since she's blue.

Which was also the color of the egg. Made sense after Lily said it. Maybe if I was more then 20 pages through the book I would of caught that :p

The book plus the trailer should hype you up enough. I'm into Eldest right now and am enjoying what happens after Book I

I sort of liked Eragon when I first read it. I thought it was an interesting read. I didn't like Eldest, however. But, I'm not going to get into that yet. :p

The movie certainly looks interesting. Even though I'm not very fond of the books, I think I'll go see it anyways.

Do you know where they filmed it?

Finished Eragon the other day. I thought it was quite a good read (still don't see much of the ANH paralles but either way) and I'm really looking forward to the movie now.

I'm 'bout halfway through Eldest now though I have to agree with Idrelle in that I'm not enjoying it near as much (though I am reading it quicker). Seems like that would be a much harder book to translate to film. Maybe it will end up being like the Lemony Snicket series and they won't have to worry about adapting the other books :p

Shur'tugal.com has the International trailer up in English now.

Lots of new footage. If not a bit to small.

To be honest, I actually enjoyed Eldest. I thought it dragged on a little bit in the middle, and was a tad bit predictable; though I think it did end very strong. I'm very eager to read book 3, not to mention seeing the movie. :D
