The Official Conquest discussion thread! (Spoilers allowed)

For people that don't have the Insider, the Keyes article in the recent Insider has been posted at www.unjoh.com. I was bored today and typed it up for Coopra. Check it out, and the rest of the site.

 

Regarding that article -

It seems to me Jacen already had his focus in Balance Point!

 

YES Corran is back. About time if you ask me. He and Luke will take care of everything.

And as I predicted in an earlier thread:the Jedi Academy is attacked. Die kids! die!!!

He was focused on, but the book wasn't about him. Conquest is going to have more on Anakin then Balance Point had on Jacen.

 

Yeah, I guess.

And what do you have against the kids, Corran9?

Anyway, I always thought it would make sense for Corran to come back in this book, since his kids are at the Academy.

 

I have nothing against the kids. I think it will be good for the story. It'll prove the Vong mean business, and force the Jedi into action. It will also be realistic, in a no-holds-barred war an enemy would use every tactical advatage against you. If you can lower your opponet's morale it will help you greatly. Luke can't just sit by and let that tragedy happen without some sort of retaliation. And if he does just sit there, it will create internal discention among the Jedi.

 

UP!!! And stay up! We don't need 20 different threads on Conquest. People are just NOW making threads about the Gamer excerpt that has been in this thread for over a week!

Q: When you did your Edge of Victory cover art, did you read any of the
other New Jedi Order books to get ideas?


Not so far. If I was asked to do anymore I think I would read up on a few
to get a broader idea of what's going on. So far the time constraints
haven't allowed me to do that kind of background work. I always like to get
as much information for a project as possible and when the deadline doesn't
allow it I try and ask other SW's buffs different questions so hopefully
there is a better chance for continuity. Often times when I do a cover for
a book I have a manuscript to read but on these last two NJO covers we only
had a rough outline of what was going to be happening.


Q: It looks like some new Yuuzhan Vong technology is in the Rebirth cover,
do you know anything about it?


I was able to gather a little info on Yuuzhan Vong technology. Overall what
I gathered was quite vague. The art director wanted to go with sort of a
dark starfish shaped ship for the large Worldship. Other than that I was
pretty much on my own. The smaller ship on the front left is my version of
a living Coralskipper. The Coralskipper was described as being somewhat
triangular in shape, with a tapered nose. Apparently the nose erupts like a
miniature volcano bursting forth a glob of molten rock."

I just can't wait for this book to come out!!!! It's the only thing keeping me going to school, knowing that if I do the day might end faster and I'll be closer to purchasing it....(see what a good book reduces me to?! besides that, we haven't had a day off school the past two months ) Anakin's my favorite, so I can't wait to read this I heard that someone was supposed to die in this book....if anyone, I think its gonna be Karrde...or maybe Tionne...I don't think Anakin would turn to the dark side at this point since he's so cautious about it, but he might be like he was when he realized that Daeshara'cor was poisoned (hehe...he was thinking evilly ) And about what someone brought up, Tahiri and Anakin in a relationship... I like Tahiri and all, but I think it'd be too awkward for them, wouldn't it? They were best friends since they were 9 and 11. Then again, it might work...

 

just a couple of facts (o.k. there really spoilers). Ackbar has retired to Mon Calamari and is probable roaming around the watery depths growing old gracefully. he will probably make an appearance if and when the Vong hit Mon Calamari.
Karrade will play a pivitol role in his rescue of the jedi of yavin, and it has been confirmed Corran Horn will reappear (hopefully in an ousting of Thracken's attempt to take over the correlian system). ReBirth will contain the birth of Luke and Mara's Child.
In all probabilty Tahiri will not die but be captured by the vong and molded into their image (it has been confirmed this is their intention).
the duology contains a host of Jedi deaths, as the order is culled by the loving citizens of the NR, in a vain attempt to appease the vong.

now onto a bit of speculation - it is my desperate hope that the empire play a pivitol role in the next couple of books. And i dont care if it takes Kyp to do it I WANT TO SEE SOME REAL JEDI THROW SOME MEGA FORCE POWER AROUND. i will settle for some jedi going to dark side and rampaging at this stage.

 

In the summary for Rebirth on the OS, it said that Anakin and Tahiri were wanted for murder by the Peace Brigade and were on the run. So I guess he manages to rescue her.

But maybe she's part Vong?

Perhaps she'll become the key to victory.

 

A Vong/human hybrid... now that's gotta look pretty scary.

 

Actually I would figure the human part would make her less scary. The Vong are nothing but disfigured humans.

 

VERY disfigured. And there have to be some differences, anyway.

 

But she has to be pretty injuried. The Vong are notorious for their pain. If they grapht armor to her, she is probably have them for life.

 

I'm actually hoping she comes out all right. I want Anakin to save her in time!

 

I thought the armor was removable. Now if they change her bone structure to make her look like them, THAT would hurt.
