Anyone going to see the Proclaimers in November????

The set at T in the Park this year was fecking brilliant
highlight of the entire weekend!!

 

I'll be back home in Glasgow in October so I wont get to see the Proclaimers unfortunately.

I'll just have to have a Proclaimers night where I play all my CDs and annoy all my English neighbours. LOL

If they played anywhere near me I'd definitely go and see them.

I'm from Australia, I think I have only ever heard one of their songs. Did they make it big there in Scotland ?

The proclaimers are quite simply one of the most musicly, and lyricly, talented pairs the world has ever seen.

I bought the 'Sunshine on Leith' CD today.

It's brilliant!

But I have one little question... what the bl**dy hell does HAVER mean???

It's the first time I've ever seen the lyrics written down, and there is the line, plain as day:
"And if I haver yeah I know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be the man who's havering to you."

Now, I had always thought this line was
"And if I heave-up yeah i know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be the man who's heaving up on you."

It sounded a bit odd, since I don't think that throwing up on your girlfriend is especially romantic. But they were singing about drinking too, so I thought it might just be some new, gritty, urban sense of realism in pop songs. Or just some weird Scottish thing

But no. I was wrong. And now I'm just confused.

But puking is...thats what heaving is. I just said it nicely... LOL

 

Oh, I know that MM. I mean that I'm glad the lyrics of the song do not indicate that the Proclaimers were advocating throwing up on one's girlfriend as a way of enhancing the relationship.

You see, that's what I was confused about in my original query. I had always misheard them, thinking that they were singing that they were 'heaving up on you', when in fact they were singing 'havering to you'. But since I had no idea what 'havering' meant it still left me confused.

And now I bet I've managed to confuse the issue even more, in my own inimicable fashion.
