Doesn't Ryu project enough chi to comletely level a multi story building? He's pretty much the best hand to hand out there, and just because he's not in an RPG doesn't mean his chi attacks aren't something to be reckoned with. There are characters on the PL who can't cause that much destruction. Or maybe Akuma, since he's better than Ryu. What about the Queen from Tactics? What about that chick from NIN or whatever it is? I haven't played it, so I don't know if it's any good, but for draft purposes a couple of the characters from Godhand might be good adds. What about some Dragon Quest people? Just throwin some stuff out there.

No, I meant Street Fighter. I know it doesn't show him do it in the games, but it doesn't show that he can't do it. B level stuff doesn't mean you just completely disregard it because it has no mention at all in the games.

I don't think either of them should be on there. Not a fan of several of the new additions, actually, like taking the ability to prep away from Ratchet seems pretty lame to me, and probably isn't going to be such a great move in the long run. We'll see, I guess.

I'm thinking guys like Badguy, Jubei and Seifer belong on there over a couple we have now. Any one of them would own Lucia, for example.

But as for one more addition: Well, uh, since we have a couple Final Fantasy Tactics Advance characters on the RL, and that game is good, but pure crap compared to the original, let's put a FFT character on the list. How about Cidolfas Orlandu for the PL? T.G. Cid, baby! The Thunder God!

EDIT: Akuma is a possibility, maybe. Maybe. But I like leaving some good options for the RL, I guess.

As far as I'm concerned, we can go with this PL for this draft, that's fine. But after it's over, we're probably going to have to sit back and reevaluate what constitutes a real PL pick. A lesson learned the hard way is a lesson learned best. A fortune cookie told me that.

 

Zizz, I am gonna have to go ahead and disagree with all of those, except maybe Jubei, and its only because I don't know him too well.

Most of those guys (Shadow, MM, etc...) definitely need prep to do as well as they did. And Seifer either got super screwed on the judging of his power level or got super screwed on the numbers. So yeah....

 

Isn't Jubei Yagyu more or less on the same level as Samonosuke? I've only played 1 and 2, though, so I don't know if 3 hyped Samonosuke's power level that much higher.

And FFT is another game I wish it had shown its face here.

IMO, PL characters are those that, without trumping or prep, can take out a majority of the RLers with the same condition, and can also hang with most of the other PLers without getting smashed OTKed.

 

Nah, not really. They're both good, but Sammy's clearly better. He and Jubei get their powers from different sources, and yeah, Jubei beat Nobunaga, but not at his peak. The Naganooch in part 3 is much more powerful and owns Sammy at the beginning of the game. It's only after Sammy get's more power, more experience and absorbs a whole second gauntlet that he can put him down for good.

But Jubei really could still be a lower-level PL pick.

I just think that if you put people who are boarderline, on the PL, then they won't get played. Then I feel bad for them.

Well then let's take off Lucia and put Sol Badguy, Seifer and Jubei on it. They'd make good picks for PLers I think. Shadow and MegaMan need prep, IMO. Kinda like Ratchet.

I actually don't really like the addition of an extra PLer. Seems like it's taking away a lot of options, for preps and whatnot, for a few of the characters that are being forced on there (against their WILL! ).

The 3 preps is a great idea, and the expansion from 10 to 12 is another good one, but I just like the original list (with a few of the newer additions - and no one bumped to the PL) a lot better. Just my opinion though.

 

I say we cut the PL down to 32 and everyone only gets two, because there really are only a slim amount of people who actually blow everyone else out of the water. Plus some of those PLers, like Ike(Fire Emblem), are not really all that super great. nawamsain?


Screw the PL, if someone can manage to snag twelve people that absolutely own everyone else then they deserve them.

 

Like Durron's team in the first draft. I didn't read the whole thing, but didn't he have...

And I don't know if your post was sarcasm, but I actually like that idea. Way too much seperation between the top tiered PLers and the bottom feeders. Plus it would reward good drafting more with a smaller PL. Although the teams would probably be less even.

 

Ares, Sephiroth, Grahf, Vergil, Dark Samus and Mother Brain were my big guns. And I had Big Boss, not Solid.

EDIT: And yeah, I could deal with that. The reducing of the PL seems like a smarter move to me, actually. But we can't make it an even 32, though. Gotta leave people some flexibility in their choices, ya know. 38 or so sounds about right. Maybe an even 40 or so.

 

Yeah, well if we only use two PLers then that means that there will be a whole lot more RLers needed to fill the spots. The RL draftees from last draft were horrible, imagine having to choose even more from that list. The list was pretty well picked over from last time and it was rough, at least I thought that was the general census.

 

Hmm, that would make your fighting team 1/5 PLs, 1/3 Preps and 1/2 Regulars. If you have 2 PLs, 3 Preps, 1 trump-pair, and 3 normal fighters... does that seem balanced? Or is 3 PLs better? I'd rather go with 3 PLs and shave about 20 off the list than 2 PLs and shave 35.

 

Uh... what? Well, first off, cutting certain picks from the PL would just basically transfer them to the RL. And they didn't suck. It just so happened that their weren't very many RL picks that consistantly had good draws throughout the draft. That's all. You can't expect every character to have sterling records.

EDIT: Problem with keeping it at three PL picks per team is that, if we keep the lower-level of the PL the same as it was the last draft, a very strong case could be made for a lot of these new additions to be able to hang with and/or beat a whole lot of the lesser PL picks. And then the question becomes: well why aren't they on there? Well, we're seeing why. It's too crowded now, and some of the new PL picks are pretty dubious.

And I don't want the idea to be that we shouldn't keep adding more picks to draft in general, so really, the solution to be to make the PL for the absolute cream of the crop. Let's face it. Some of the current PL picks woul be completely obliterated by guys like Dante or Sephiroth in a matter of seconds. That doesn't exactly look like PL-worthiness to me.
