Tournament - Favorite Fantasy Character - Discussing Nominations!!

Currently I have it narrowed down to 114 Nominations. So that means we need at least 14 more. Once I get 128 or a certain number that works I will post the list of nominations so everyone can see and voice their opinions on it.

 

Then the only one I would nominate on my list is Merlin from Excalibur.

So repeated characters from different mediums are allowed? Interesting. I kind of want to see Batman vs Batman...

 

I tend to agree with The2ndQuest. Transformers characters and X-Men characters shouldn't be in the tourney, mostly because they could be considered more sci-fi because of their origins. Technological machines, genetic mutations, yeah, those aren't very mystical.

 

I like the nomination list but yeah stay away from the characters with super technology or ones that could be considered superheroes

If Lost characters are being counted as Fantasy, definitely. Add Kate and Jack to that list too. I just didn't realise they were originally.

Were any Lost characters in the sci-fi tournament?

It would be interesting to see Hurley's curse-o-death explained scientifically, but I'm sure they could give in a shot!

Alrighty. Here is what I've done so far. I've pulled all the comic book characters from the list. I thought about leaving Batman from The Animated Series in there but I think just to be fair if I pull one incarnation of the character I should pull all of them. I plan on leaving Thor in there because he is a god and really is more Fantasy than Sci Fi if you think about it. For The X Files can't Mulder stay in because they deal with Supernatural elements which would be fantasy? Also what are your thoughts on the characters from Heroes? Should we pull them because they have powers like the X-Men or what? We don't know truely how they have their powers yet so I want to get an opinion on them before I decide to pull them or not. As of right now there are 21 Nomination openings. This could open up more depending on if we keep or pull the Heroes character nominations. Please submit more nominations in the normal way. Thanks

I would propose that any character who was involved in the Sci-Fi tournament be excluded from the Fantasy tournament, no questions asked.

I would agree with Radical_Edward on this. While there is plenty of potential for spillover between the genres, one shot at a tournament seems enough. Note that I'm thinking this only for characters that actually did compete in the Sci-Fi tournament; those that could have but didn't and still meet fantasy criteria are fair game still.

Also, I definitely think Lost should be able to be included in this tournament. While it may have rational or semi-rational explanations, the show has thus far offered us explanations for less than it has denied them to us. The unexplained mind-reading Smoke Monster would seem a good example for the moment. Also, this past Wednesday night's episode seemed to up the fantastical quotient, whatever's actually going on there. Maybe when the series is over it won't be allowed in this tournament, but I say take it for now
