Hey all. You may or may not remember me. Used to be rather active on this forum, though not this particular board. Anyways, Dad gave me a box of stuff to sell, or do whatever with. It's about half 1970's Snoopy stuff, and half Star Wars stuff. Toys, playsets, figures, all from 1978. They are not in amazing condition but they're pretty good. Is there a market for mid-grade quality toys or should I just clean these up and box them for my eventual children to play with?

Not pictured are these two Hoth sets and what I think is a star destroyer bridge playset. It has an elevator.

Personally, if I were handed a box of vintage, well-loved toys in decent condition, I'd keep them for my kids. Hell, I'd play around with them myself, particularly the playsets. Then, my eventual offspring would inherit them when they're old enough.

Though, if you are looking for some cash, there's always eBay. I see toy lots going for decent prices. You won't get rich off of these, but find the right buyer and they could pay for perhaps half a tank of gas. Or a dinner. And if you do decide to sell them, separate the lots according to what's in them. Dividing them will put a few more credits in your pocket, if you find buyers for each.

You won't get a lot for them as they are loose. If you don't want to leave them for your kids you could try dipping into the eBay auction water. Alternatively, our sister site Rebelscum has a Classifieds section. You have to register to post but it's free.

Thanks guys, but I was also wondering if anyone knew literally what do I have my hands on. I can't identify some of them.

One thing you could do is let us know if there are any dates stamped on the figures and ships. That would be a start. If they were packaged we'd know what lines they were from.
Also - a better pic of the figures might help. Maybe one that just shows them. The pic you linked doesn't show that much detail. I have some collecting books but it's getting a bit late here to start looking stuff up. (I'm in the UK).
Also - would these have been bought in the US or internationally?

Figures are stamped 1978. I figured out that I have the following. None are in great condition, most aren't complete. The stickers are all worn, obviously. By the way, these are not my auctions, just where I found my info. And there's more to come.

Playset has most of the stuff, actually...

This one is complete, if the auction I found included all the parts.

Just the base for this one, lol.

Oh, so that's what this is. Huh. Wasn't even sure it was Star Wars

    Complete!

    Complete!

Mostly complete, but has a few holes in bottom from, I'm guessing, lit cigarettes. Some kind of hot thing.

    Missing two of the guns.

Complete I think, in pretty good condition.

OK these figures appear to be from the 2nd wave. I've got boba Fett(rocket glued in), Snaggletooth(red), Greedo, a sandperson(no jacket), jawa(cloth jacket), and possibly an x-wing fighter, not sure if that's from a later wave. Also, patrol dewback, but no figures with it, and luke's landspeeder.

    I think this is my C3P0: http://www.toywiz.com/sw1977c3poloose.html
    Copyright on him says 1977

Weirdly enough I have Obi-Wan's cape and chewbacca's gun, but not the figures. And I'm missing bossk's gun. Sad too, he's my favorite.

I think you've identified them all.
Also, you have a Darth Vader TIE fighter (with the wings on backwards)
The orange box is to the DeathStar playset (as is the elevator)

Original vehicles and playsets did not normally come with figures. The Ice planet should have a probot (Turret & Probot playset is what I remember it being called), and the deathstar had a green trash monster creature that was kinda goofy looking. Also a bunch of foam to fill the trash compactor that I imagine has decayed rather a lot.

Keep it or ebay it? Well, up to you.
Look and see what kind of prices the various vehicles & play sets are going for. You probably won't get much for the figures.
If you have small kids, let them play with them. Really. The simpler joints and smaller size vehicles are much better for the 6-10 age than the current "more movie accurate" proportions.
Or keep them for yourself if you like the classic look of the 70s/80s toys.
    Up to you.

Oh, make sure there are no old batteries in there rusting away the connections.

Or old batteries that are leaking. Discovering battery acid the hard way is inadvisable.

thats some great original stuff there!!

i say if you're a fan keep them for nostalgia or for your kids.

and the fact that they were your father's is even cooler.

a kid could have his grandad's original sw toys!
