I believe "stack" constitutes any number of waffles greater than or equal to 4.

is single. This is the lonely form to be found on senior menus or to be destroyed on infant trays.

is a pair. The common "breakfast on the go" count.

is a meal. The beginnings of an enjoyable, leisurely breakfast...the common count taken at buffets and continental breakfast waffle bars.

or larger is a stack. A meal for the truly hungry. The result of a one serving from the larger square irons, and thus the smallest single portion that can be considered a "stack".
