Well, first you'll need one or more persons willing to champion the cause and organize everything. Second you'll need to start planning some in-person, live meetings. You are required to have a minimum of three group meetings to become a FF. This is generally why its tough to get a state FF going since people can be spread out.

Most of my KC members at moswc.com have indicated they don't wish to become a FF, even though we could at the drop of a hat since we have monthly meetings and have had waaaay more than the minimum of three already.

I will also tell you that most of my members at ksswc.com didn't even know about these forums here, nor about FF. When the Wichita forum was closed, no one really seemed to care.

If you wish to start one, you may have to be the person to champion it, since I haven't seen any others around here willing to do so. At one point DarthBarbieDoll was trying to champion a KC FF, and I'm not sure where she is on that project, though you might check with her.

Why isn't MOSWC and/or KSSWC already an official FF chapter? You guys are organized enough, you meet all the time apparently, do you just not want it or something? There are quite a few other groups that have their own message boards, but they still come here in hopes of attracting new members, I just don't see why you guys wouldn't want to take full advantage of it. If someone could explain to me why being associated with the FF is a bad thing then I'd really like to know as it could help other groups, but I fail to see any downside to it and suspect that this is all due to some ancient misunderstanding. ?[face_plain]

At KSSWC.com its never been discussed and they've never had any group meetings as it is. Honestly, I don't ever expect to see a Wichita or Kansas FF since the general "group forming" interest appears to be lacking.

At MOSWC.com it has been discussed in the KC forums and the concensus was not to become a FF. The main reason was that a significant portion of control and autonomy would have been lost if we switched to a FF. Some members didn't like having "rules" to be a group, since we're currently a group and basically do as we like.

It really doesn't matter too much to me either way, though I like having our own site and not having a portion of it (the message board) being part of another site. And I have to admit I'm biased in that regard since I'm the webmaster for both ksswc and moswc.

If someone were to form a KC FF I would try to attend the meetings. In fact, I wouldn't mind coupling any KCFF meetings with the KCMOSWC meetings.

Hiya. :) Yup, I am still working on proposing a KC Fan Force chapter. It's just taking alot of time to get information from various chapters that are already set up and running now, but don't worry.. I'll let you know as soon as I get filled in a bit more.

I think I've addressed most, if not all of your group's concerns in my email, but for those playing at home....You guys are already an established group, so many of the "formation" regulations don't have to apply. There are other clubs that have their own boards, but still visit their FF city board in hopes of attacting new members. I don't have a problem with this. I think it would be silly to have two separate SW clubs in a single city. FanForce is a network of clubs and many people will say that there's tons of benefits from being a part of that network. I won't force the issue any more than that, but will be happy to address any questions or concerns about associating yourselves with FF.

If it turns out that you guys still don't want to be a part of FF, that's fine. This forum isn't going anywhere as it has enough traffic to warrent it's existence. The others who are wanting to form a separate FF group will have the same amount of help as I try to give any other forming club...I'd just hope down the road the two groups might merge together and/or coexist with out any competition for fans that would only hurt both groups.

    lol...still rambling.

That's why I'm all for combined meetings. You don't have to be a FF member to attend a FF meeting (otherwise how would you get new members? ;) ) I certainly don't want to have any competition between "groups."

Unfortunately we have a few members who are adamant about not being a FF so I don't want to force the issue with them. As DarthBarbieDoll gets her FF plans and schedules more refined we will have some more KCMOSWC group discussions at one of our monthly meetings.

And as always DarthBarbieDoll, or any lurkers here are free to attend any of our KCMOSWC meetings. :)

Brat of Kansas, don't feel bad about having a FanForce. St. Louis has a lot of people posting but, apparently difficulty in getting meeting together. Mostly due to everyones schedules I think. I also visit the MOSWC site, they are good guys who are serious SW collectors who do a lot of joking around that you would not find on these forums. Overall I think they are good guys.

If I'm wrong, DougCPA let me know. And Brat of Kansas don't give up hope of a Fan Force.
    :)

In my opinion, the STL forum's problem is that they are trying to work around EVERYONE'S schedule. If they continue doing that, they'll rarely have meetings. They should just set a date and those who can make it will, and those who can't will just have to wait until the next meeting.
