This is a very circular arguement on your part.

Lucas based the force off of eastern religions, it is based on Chi, from a certain POV.

Either way, it's a type of magic. What defines magic to you? Magic is supernaturla power

A fight between good and evil set in a long ago time. The Force was a mythical power. It can't possibly happen in our world. The midi-chlorians are science. There is none of that in the OT.

If I write a space opera science fiction story that takes place in the future, with a fight between good and evil, is that still a myth?

Modern mythmaking? We can make myths? Are you saying I can be a writer of myths, just like the ancient greeks? Awesome!!!!

Are my fantasy and sci fi stories I write at home myths? Which videogames are myths?

Star Wars isn't a myth because it "happened" and isn't mystical. The Force is a scientific (in-universe) concept. So the Force can't be magic because it is a scientific, biological phenomenon.
Myths are legendary, often about gods, immortals, etc. Myths also are known by a lot of people for a lot of time, so no, your stories are not myths because nobody accepts or reads or knows them. They are, however, fantasy and/or sci-fi. The Greeks who wrote those stories didn't become myth-makers immediately upon completion. Thousands of years later, they have become myths because of how humans interacted with those stories.
Myths also always are about the past. Space opera is not mythical.

Star Wars takes place in the past. A Long Time Ago in a galaxy far, far away. Sounds mythical to me. Draws me in. I don't know how you can't call it mythical but maybe its just me.

It may be mythical, but I think there's some academic stuff about Earth peoples, anthropology, culture, etc. for something to be a technical myth.
Also, nobody has ever believed seriously that Star Wars happened.

I know SW is fictional. I never said it was real. But it would be kinda cool if it was. They should design real life Vader suits, and not just lame cheap halloween costumes. Or a bike helmet that looks like Vader's samurai helmet, made of real metal. Vader's armor/robot suit in the movies looked real. I liked vader's sith robes in Episode 3.

What makes a story a myth? Can I make up a story and it becomes a myth? So you're saying that Jak and Daxter is a myth and Ratchet and clank is a myth and resident evil are myths because thye involve good vs evil?

Not all things that involve good vs. evil are myths. I never said that. Many things don't involve real good or evil. I'm not a serious academic, but for something to become a myth and not a story, many people believe it and pass it down. Resident Evil is not a myth because it is so new and no one believes it.

By that logic, star wars is new and it's not a myth.

I never said it was. Star Wars does not qualify as a myth in the least.

    Ok. Sorry. Misunderstanding.

However, why do many people call star wars a modern myth, or modern mythmaking?

Because of the format and influences. Reflects many motifs found in myths.
Pokemon are not *random animal* even though they may resemble them.

Like what format and influences? What motifs? What are you talking about, Pokemon? What does pokemon have to do with this? Are they right or wrong? Is SW a myth?

Pokemon are to real animals as Star Wars is to actual myths. Similar but separate. SW IS NOT A MYTH.

Ok. But it's called a modern myth and SW the legacy revealed called SW a myth. Lets end this discussion about whether or not SW is a myth.....

It technically isn't. That's why we say "modern" myth. Someone who is a "modern" da Vinci is not da Vinci. SW has mythical status in culture but is not a myth.

    I'd say it's hit-or-myth.
