I've never had one either. No reason to as far as I am concerned. Haven't had a blood transfusion in 9 years, don't do drugs, and never had sex. Sort of sterile environment here, nes pa?

ROFL that would of been a good question to ask at my interview!!!

But what you was saying about the machine that gave false readings. The same equipment is probably in hospitals around the country. The only thing would of been if they knew it was wrong but didnt change it.

That gays have to provide proof that they're HIV negative to get a mortgage. I hope you're kidding. That's the worst case of prejudice I've ever heard!

No, I think thats right, Beth.

Also happens with Diabetes and other conditions.

Doesnt mean they won't get a mortgage, just that the insurance premium will be higher because they're are a higher risk.

It's the truth...I know a gay couple and they both had to have HIV tests for their mortage...it had something to do with life insurance..but he said it was quite a standard practice...

He was quite cool about it...he know's he's high risk and that there is no known cure...obviously if you are going to borrow money over 25 years..and your life expectancy with HIV is unknown...you can see the point..

No, never had one. In fact it never even occurred to me to have one, I've always been more concerned about disorders like hernias and testicular cancer. But this thread has now got me thinking. Maybe I should have a chat with my GP as well.

No, I can't see the point, Arun. Nothing in life is a given. You just took out a mortgage and could be sitting there a breeding ground for cancer with only 10 more painful years to live. How is that any better than someone with AIDs? No, I'm sorry but I think this is just a hidden form of prejudice and it make me sick to hear how nonchalant you are about it.

Perhaps... but the chance of getting HIV from it being your fault is far greater than that of cancer.

Or more precisely, you're far more likely to get cancer from causes outside of your control than HIV...

I just think that if you're sexually active it's probably not all that bad of an idea to get tested every once in awhile. I mean, you may know where you've been but who knows where he's been...ya know.

ever heard of condoms? I know the HIV virus is smaller than the pores in condoms but you actually need a big dose of the virus to actually get it. So you are pretty safe. Unlike hepatitis where a small dose will infect you.

I think you can probably get HIV by biting someone. Who has it.
