Maul likes to toy with his opponents. It's been a trait of his ever since TPM, when he kept slashing the brim of the pit, only to make sparks fly at young Obi Wan, who's hanging on to dear life below.

Why didn't Mace just use The Force to push Sidious out the window?

I'm pretty sure a Dark Lord of the SIth has countermeasures against that kind of thing.

Remember A Hunt For Ziro? Why didn't Obi-Wan and Vos just grab Cad Bane with the Force, smash his body a few dozen times against a rock wall, then hurl his unconscious body off the nearest five hundred meter cliff?

Then why not just use the force to solve all the problems? Run out of toilet paper don't shout across the hall Anakin. Use your telekinesis. Probably because the force can't solve all the problems and is not easily used under stress then would take physical toll on the user.

Another IU explanation for Jedi not using the Force at supposedly opportune moments (besides the mental and physical fatigue factor) is that the Force has a will of its own. Perhaps at that moment, the Jedi in question is unable to call upon his or her Force powers simply because this abstruse medium with a will of its own refuses to assist them. If this viewpoint (espoused by Qui-Gon Jinn, amongst others) on the nature of the Force is true, then I imagine that only the most powerful Jedi, who are most in tune with the Force, or the most powerful Sith, who can manipulate and bend the Force to their own will, would be able to call upon and have the Force obey their whims every time.

It wouldn't have been very Jedi to TK someone to death, methinks...

o_O Any more than, say, running them through with a lightsaber would? Because Jedi do that. As long as it isn't in anger or any other dark side emotion, it's unlikely to be a serious Jedi ethical issue. Even if it was, just pound him against a rock until he loses his guns and is stunned or unconscious and cuff him.

What if every Jedi took Anakin's approach? Used a combination of force choke and telekinesis to shove people up again thorny bushes?

There'd be fewer missing limbs laying around in Obi Wan's favorite cantinas? :p

Yeah, Anakin was always a Jedi maverick who'd do what he felt was necessary to achieve victory. Apparently, this means compromising the integrity of his opponent's trachea, back, spine, and butt gluteus maximus while sending spasms of pain and shock through their body. Oh, and to top it all off, adding further insult to injury, telekinetically shoving them into a thorn-bush? Is this supposed to be the equivalent to Jedi torture?

"That's not the Jedi way." Or so it would seem.

Edit: And Obi-Wan really took the concept of disarmament a little bit too literally.

Eh, the combination of the sudden constriction of the windpipe and a wall. Certainly not the Jedi way however among many reasons presented in this thread to why the force is not always used nor should always be the answer to everything.

I think if He would of force choked Vizla he would of used one of his gadgets or his men would of jumped in quickly. Not that it would of mattered here but the point of the fight was to show us a good fight scene and not some over used overrated display of force..

Yeah, part of the point of the build up in the Maul arc was to establish Maul has some brains. He had a big plan and part of it was to play Deathwatches game to make an army out of them. Maul may be a cheater but using the force to cheat and ill Vizsla would not have served his game as well. The whole decapitation thing n the darksaber was Maul's show of power at the end.

The battle was partly to show that a Mandalorian could stand up to a Force user in battle. They are the Klingons of Star Wars after all, the mightiest warriors the galaxy has to offer.

But as has already been said, Maul grabbing Visla with the Force would have left him exposed because Visla could just have blasted him with a rocket or whatever. He couldn't do much more than push him away or deflect attacks with the Force, and he doesn't seem able to use lightning.

I disagree. They are way underpowered in the show.
