Why doesn't the JC implement a curse-filter?

Well, I don't think they should be either. I know my wording on it isn't all that good, but that's what I meant. I think that posts here should be kept PG but anything much worse should not be allowed.

I suppose having a guideline like that makes moderating a little harder, but not that much harder.

Well don't get me wrongo, I'm all for freedom of speech and stuff and wish that they'd make some kind of mature forum but its just that if they don't allow cursing why don't they just use a filter

Cursing doesn't seem to be much of a problem on the JC. We get the occasional person who lets it slip out, but it usually gets caught by a mod pretty quickly. There's not really a need for one, and it might cause more trouble than it's worth.

Well, they do allow cursing, just not profane or vulgar posting. Here is the definitions to help:

PROFANENESS OR PROFANITY - A disrespect to the name of God, or his divine providence. This is variously punished by statute in the several states.

    Vulgar - Crudely indecent.

    1. Deficient in taste, delicacy, or refinement.
    2. Marked by a lack of good breeding; boorish. See Synonyms at common.
    3. Offensively excessive in self-display or expenditure; ostentatious: the huge vulgar houses and cars of the newly rich.
    4. Spoken by or expressed in language spoken by the common people; vernacular: the technical and vulgar names for an animal species.
    5. Of or associated with the great masses of people; common.

Also: The word vulgar now brings to mind off-color jokes and offensive epithets

So that is what is not allowed on the JC according to the TOS. While I suppose that would mean that by definition we could use really harsh cursing, it is an unspoken rule that I think we all know we can't, and I'm fine with that just the way it is.

I think that particular comment was unnecessary.
