SWRPF Archive WOTG: The New GM War Council

    A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away...















    Welcome to the New War Council, where members of the WOTG RP can come to watch as the GM?s solve problems of the RP? (at least in theory ;) )

    A special thanks to Protégé-of-Thrawn, DarthSeti5, AODG, Fluke, Jace, Jello, and Elegos, who helped in many ways to make WOTG great

    GM Power Structure
    Here are your GM?s, in all their glory, written in order of election.

    Their role is a major one. They are essentially the final word on all WOTG related Rping.
    Any and All conflicts or problems will be settled by one of these three. If you have any problems RP wise, or conflicts, PM one of these three.
    The golden rule is accept the GM?s decision.
    They have the power to nullify posts, and also have the power to ? in extreme cases ? automatically nullify a RPers posts for the following 24 hours as punishment for severe breach of rules.
    If two GM?s decide that the remaining GM improperly ruled on an issue, then those two can nullify that GM?s ruling, but this should only happen in extreme cases.
    A GM is elected for life, and the only way to remove a GM is to vote on the GM?s competence. Even then, the other two GM?s can still overrule the charge of incompetence.
    GM?s should be treated with the utmost respect. They are effectively the mods of WOTG. If a comment over a chat service such as AIM or MSN, a post in any thread, or a PM be deemed abusive to a GM, then the user who made that comment is banned from WOTG and all of its threads for a period of at least 24 hours.


    In addition to GM?s, we have GM assistants which assist the GM?s in specific areas that a GM decides are ?trouble spots.? Currently we have a Force GM assistant, a Tech and Ships GM assistant, and a Smaller Factions GM assistant. Respectively they are:

    They are to be treated as though they are GM?s, and are only to be consulted on issues which fall in their specific area. GM assistants are not elected but chosen when a GM decides that a certain area needs more direct supervision.

    The Basics
    1. No God Moding, this includes Force-users. (see War Council for information regarding God Mod policy)
    2. Players can not post opponents damage.
    3. Players must post their own damage in accordance to the attack made upon them.
    4. Players must admit defeat or death when there is no possible and reasonable escape or fatal injuries prevent escape.
    5. Force users are limited in the usage of their abilities by two times per ability per battle. This includes all classes from Master to Padawan. Force Use is limited to those who are authorized to use it by the GM Council, and new players must begin at the level of Padawan and train up except in exceptional circumstance.
    6. Players must play out their character as they have it in their character profile sheet.
    7. Players can not use the knowledge gained from Out of Character while playing In Character. This includes any knowledge revealed by other players in their In Character posts unless your character is present to hear that knowledge.
    8. Players can not post the passing of time so they can get to a battle and save the day. Be realistic; if you are trying to reach Endor from the Corporate Sector it will take you several days to get there that by then any battle fought at Endor will have been over with.     I'll repeat what I said at the start of the last GM thread:

    Good luck with it and everyone....try to remember that this is a game. Fun is mandatory and no OOC hostilities, OK? I don't wanna have to ban for flaming/trolling or any other nastiness.

    I've seen this thread get heated at times as people argue over the validity of moves and technology etc. I'm not going to say I approve of it but I certainly understand it. Please let me reinforce: take your debates PM as soon as they begin. And GM's don't forget to post the outcome of a PM decision because it may effect future gameplay.

    All of that being said, let's get gaming! :)

    Decide which faction you want to join, New Republic, Galactic Empire, Yuuzhan Vong Military Force, Corporate Sector Authority, or any of our other smaller factions besides the CSA. Then post in that faction's thread, requesting to join. After the a member of the faction validates you, then fill out the character profile contained in the first post of WOTGIV, and post it in your faction's thread. Look over the rules I posted earlier today, and start RPing!

    I'm not adept at making links, but they are here in the RPF, under the names, New Republic, Galactic Empire, and the Yuuzhan Vong Military Force. The factions are the different groups in WOTG which fight eachother for control of the galaxy.

    ok, ok, if you look around, you'll find a thread(s) called New Galactic Republic, Galactic Empire, or the Yuuzhan Vong Military Force. There are all factions of the WOTG (War of the Galaxies). Then when you fill out a profile, you can start role playing in the war thread, called: WOTG: The Darkness Within.

    Good Evening or Good Morning, to all of the WOTG institution!

    My thanks and special mention to Yomin Carr, who has done an excellent job of doing this new incarnation of the War Council concept, were the more background work is done, the conflicts and questions behind the IC game play, of our mighty WOTG.

    TO all, I ask one thing. Keep posts in here to a minimum. I only want to see GM announcements, Conflict's raised for GM mediation, or applications to GM's for authorisation etc. of new tech, factions etc.
    No socialising: We now have a Bar and Bistro for that purpose.
    No arguing: All three GM's are authorised at their own discretion to Temp. or Perm. Ban RPers from WOTG, if you argue, flame, or act in a way that is disruptive to the WOTG game and/or the RPers therein.

    Debate on an issue is fine, but please, unless a GM throws the floor open (very rare) do so via PM to the GMs.

    Just a request of DS5, and PoT: For the convenience (sp?) of the next person who has to go through the WC to accumulate all the rules introduced in the old one, can you each post new rules in bold, colored, and hl-ed? I know firsthand what it's like to go through page after page after page looking for a new rule... not fun...

    GAJ, I know that a GM or assist GM ruling is it, but I believe that Bravo's use of force lightning was good. He wasn't fighting a person, he was just trying to fill out his charicter...and if you have read Star by Star, you know that Jaina uses force lightning...and she never tried to develop it. I would say that in heated moments, high emotional time, that one's force powers...especially Dark Side energy, would encrease...I hereby offer this up

    Dark Side powers
    Emotion Adds 2 points to all darkside skills, learned or not...but this only lasts one post per day...example. Luke Skywalker beat Darth Vader back while enraged...Vader couldn't keep up with Luke because he was drawing on the force and it was, like Obi Wan said, Controlled his actions. I would say that any charicter that would enter rage would be able to Grip, Lightning, or Throw the intermediary Sith skills, just for, like I said, one post per day. The Aforementioned Jaina shooting Lightning would be another example.

    Light Side

    Concentration
    Again, can only be used once a day, one post. Adds 2 points to Light Side powers. It would increase your skills such as Healing, Defense, Deflect Blaster and any other core Light side skills. Anakin fighting till the end, working even though he was mortally wounded in Star by Star. Luke calling to Leia from acrossed the planet when he's hanging upside down from Cloud City.

    WW: It's a good idea but I have a few problems. I don't think all skills should be magnified--after all, an enraged Jedi is a sloppy one. The Dark Side already has Rage and Hatred. If Emotion is be implemented, it should not effect all skills--just ones related to anger. After all, Luke didn't get Farseeing, did he? The increase in power should also reflect the person's Force rank. An Apprentice should not get Master level powers.

    The same should be true for this Concentration.

    I'll point Jace over here, and he'll rule on it.

    Actually Jello, if you include Dark Empire into the GFFA EU, then Luke DID get farseeing. He controlled the entire fleet through the force. We could also add that with increased use of Emotion a jedi looses more control of himself, and begins to be controled by his anger, so he looses the ability to concentrate, loosing abilites such as farseeing, mind control, and energy drain...and it all focuses on phyisical attack skills. Concentration has postive effects, increasing the buildup of force skills that require meditation and non-aggressive salutions...the problem here is the Jedi is less likely to use physical force to solve a problem, due to gaining understanding and enlightenment. each power boost must have a reprocussion to keep players from using them all the time.

    Farseeing has nothing to do with it. You are thinking of Control Mind. Farseeing is a short of foresight--such as what Emperor Palpatine used. It allows one to see the future in brief images or pictures, view a partially twisted (and prone to errors) present event, or look upon the past.

    I think there is room in WOTG for 'Emotion'.

    Perhaps the light side version could be known as 'Peace' instead of Concentration, for it ties in nicely with the Jedi Code.

    At any rate, Peace or Emotion must be in context and not created solely to boost one's power. Use it as a plot device, not a way to become even stronger. (Looks pointedly at Ghast.)

    I will of course, await Jace's ruling on this matter, but if he okay's it, I pre-emptively approve as well.

    and well done so far guys...let's see if the amiable conversation and controlled debate in here can last to 100 posts...or perhaps (I dare to dream) beyond?
