PT Would Lionel Richie have made a more compelling Mace Windu?

Sam Jackson, "lacking his customary anarchic gleam," as one critic put it, seemed to be intoning his way through the PT. Would a more unconventional choice - Lionel Richie, say - have enlivened the character or made him more compelling to watch? Your thoughts would be welcome.

    Say it together...naturally.

I'm a fan of Sam Jackson, especially his work in Pulp Fiction, but I think he was horribly mis-cast in the role of Mace Windu. He would have been better suited in a ganster/ pirate/ bounty hunter type of role.

I think a better choice for Mace would have been Morgan Freeman.

Actually, now that I think about it, the best person who could have possibly played Mace Windu was Barack Obama.

    Stevie Wonder.

A Jedi Master who only sees through the Force, similar to the blind samurai character Zatoichi.

SLJ was one of the most wooden actors in the entire PT, and that's saying something. I actually thought his performance got worse as the films progressed. The scene in which he tries to arrest Palpatine in Episode III is honestly one of the most embarrassing pieces of screen acting I've ever witnessed.

The Jedi Council could use a man who knows how to get things.

Anyway, I can't help but wonder how epic the PT would have been if it had featured Lionel Richie as Mace Windu, Gregory Hines as Obi-Wan Kenobi, Mikhail Baryshnikov as Anakin, and Helen Mirren as Padme. It probably would have looked much like an intergalactic White Nights (or Knights, in this case), with an epic dance-off between Hines and Baryshnikov on the fiery planet of Mustafar...ah, the possibilities...

    Lol...good one.

With Dooku played by John Boehner, Nute Gunray played by Eric Cantor, and the Geonosians played by the rest of the House of Representatives.

    "This party's over."

Whereas Lionel Richie would just burst into a chorus of, "Hello? Is it me you're looking for? I can see it in your eyes, I can see it in your smile, you're all I've ever wanted, and my arms are open wide..."

We know that Lionel Richie has the power to dance on the ceiling, which could help in a fight.

Then again, so does CW Grievous.

If only those slick moves and that brilliant red shirt could be seen in glorious, pristine HD quality. :p

    [face_laugh]

I have to really laugh at that picture of Lando fanning his cape.

Yeah... TESB is such a serious and intense entry, alright. [face_whistling] [face_clown]

Lando clearly takes pride in his appearance. You just know that those nails have been manicured. I'm not going to call him a metrosexual, he's simply...well groomed.:p

Yes, The Empire Strikes Back is the best SW film, pimp Lando or not. In fairness, Episode III has scenes that approach the mystery and grandeur of Irvin Kershner's great masterpiece, but it also contains a bunch of extraneous crap that leaves you shaking your head in utter disbelief.

And Cryogenic, Master Lionel Windu just called and asked me let you know that you are his destiny. (Not, apparently, his density):p

He's black. And he's in Star Wars.

That, basically, means he can get away with anything. :p

I may have shook my head whilst watching ROTS in utter disbelief, but it isn't necessarily because I was responding to "extraneous crap". :)

Unless you're talking about the Jedi and their wretched Jedi Code. [face_batting]

    "Don't listen to me, Anakin!"

    "I haven't made a good record since 1986!"

That's epic. Perhaps Taylor Hackford should have directed the PT....

Lol! You mean you didn't find Lionel's bare chest and undulating pelvis appealing?:p

Everything is proceeding as I have foreseen. *cackles*
