YT-240 - WIP

The YT-240 is a ship in the same series as the Outrider and the Millenium Falcon but at the cheapest end.
A friend of mine designed the basic shape of it and now I've begun modelling it.
I will propably borrow a lot of detail designs from the falcon and the Tantive and ships like that.
It's for a fanfilm me and some friends are working on.

So this first pic is just the basics of the hull with a little paneling done.

(I still have'nt gotten to be friends with MAX lighting and rendering)

Some of the polygons are not agreeing with me on how to behave.
I'll have to try and be frinds with them.

 

Well, not much to critique on, but it's a good start

 

I have gotten quite a bit further.
I've tried out some textures, but I think I will remove them and start texturing from scratch.
Som parts of the model did'nt wuite work the way I wanted, so I'll have to remodel a lot.

The position of the cockpit seems weird. How will you see to the left?

Yes, the position of the cockpit is weird.
There is a long story why that has to do with different designs for the interior and the exterior of the ship that didn't match. And we built and shot the interior first, so the exterior (this model) has to follow the interior design which leaves us with this odd design.

 

Well I'm no modeller, that aspect of computers really doesn't agree with me. But what you've done looks pretty cool
But if you want my opinion (and you may not, that's fine) the flat bits to the forward port and starboard would look cool of they were cut on an angle from the central part of the nose back to the sides, or even on 2 angles.
Another posibility is placing the cockpit in the center of the nose (ala YT-2400) that could solve the visibility problem. Although you could just argue that the blind spot is filled in by sensors or hologram technology.
Hope you're going to let us know when this film hits the net. What's it about? Care to ell us a bit about it (in the appropriate forum of course).

When does your movie take place?

Also, could you please release this model online? (3DS Format, if you can) If you wouldn't mind, it could play anywhere from a cameo role to a Tantive-IV-in-ANH-sized role in a sequel to Pursuit of a Jedi that is being planned out.

 

The movie takes place between Ep III and EP IV.

I'll think about releasing the model.
