We'll be doing ANH this Saturday night if anyone is interested in coming down.
Saw it today with Tim and several other SMT'ers on the giant/IMAX sized screen at MUVICO. I could tell a slight difference in the picture- but not enough for me not to want to catch any future movies there, like Batman Begins.
I hate to say that today was the last time I'm going to catch ROTS. Sorry, I've seen it 3 times and each time I just dislike it more. Not to worry, plenty of Memphis Fan Force folks who would be more than happey catching it again. I think I'm the only one here who didn't like it.

Yeah. Booo!
The movie sucked!
It was trash! You don't mess with the original goodness.
And they called it nuumber three?! It's not worth number two if you know what I mean.
I hated the third Matrix movie!
Wait.
Wait just a second you were talking about Ep. III.
Whoops my bad.
Yeah it's just you. Musta been watching it those crazy spiral glasses one gets at a party store. Not many a dried eye at the end of the movie in our theater at the H27. I'm not ashamed to say I was one of those who "got a bit of something in their eyes." The movie was a bit fast, but it was all I had expected and could have hoped for. Zack use a BIG stick when you bonk him on the head.
EDIT: When are we planning this trip? I want in if I can make it.

I think we have a good number of people responding in interest. Do we want to do a votie thingie or apply more ideas concerning when's and where's?

Let's start having people post their choice. We can decide when a little later, but I guess the first choice is Memphis or Birmingham. I'll start off:
I vote for Memphis and to tie it in with a joint meeting with the SMT chapter.

Ditto. Maybe since my girlfriend goes to Rhodes in Memphis I might be able to drag her along. Turn her to the geek side.

I vote for Memphis.
And Dork_Vader, you're not the only one who didn't like it. I've seen it 3 times already and don't care to see it in a regular theater again.
The final time I plan on seeing it will be in a digital theater because missed AOTC when it was in digital.

Seriously Ryan you don't likle the movie? I loved it. I thought all of our group enjoyed it. Maybe I missed the Order 67 memo in which we turn on the movie now? Whats the deal with all the negative feedback starting to resonate. Maybe it's cause I've still only seen in once so far.

I still like the film. I've only seen it twice and the group I was with trashed the film MST3K style, but we were at a Drive-In so that was a different experience to say the least. I still plan to see the film a few more times. But I want to finish the novel first before going again.

Consider yourselves invited. We start the drive-in up at dusk (around 8'ish). I'm sure there are plenty of SMT folks who are willing to catch it again- especially in digital. I'll go, I'll just sneak into another theater once it starts.
But I want to finish the novel first before going again.
I think that's one of my biggest complaints- everyone I've talked to who loves the movie has read the book first, along with a lot of EU novels. They keep telling me, "Well, in the book this happened and they explained this in the book and they were thinking this in the book, etc." If all that was so important then why wasn't it in the movie? If George was so intent on telling the story, then why throw in blury eye candy like the GG/Obi-Wan chase, or the gladiator scene in AOTC?
Don't mean to be negative, there were some great scenes- I loved the Anakin/Palpy talks, the way Anakin finished off Dooku, the scene of Anakin and the clones marching into the temple, the shots of Alderaan, and the funeral scene was just an incredible and moving scene. I also loved seeing more use of the force in fight scenes (but why didn't Anakin or Obi-Wan use it to get rid of the buzz droids..?) The movie looked great- couldn't ask for more there. Filling in some plot holes, I could ask for more of that.
I just haven't walked out of the theater thinking "Wow!" since the OT. Although I still get that same anxious feeling when I hear the fanfare at the beginning and then the logo on the big screen. Man, that still rocks!
I promise to keep my ROTS comments to myself if any of you choose to come visit us here in Memphis.

I just got back from watching the Digital Epi. 3 at the Cordova cinema in Memphis. The screen has a black line on part of it. Its not the digital feed. Its something on the screen. Just wanted to let everyone know before making that 3 hour drive. Its not that noticeable during dark scenes but any scene on Coruscant or on Senator Organas ship, it is VERY noticeable.
