Thought I'd repost this from the TF.N news boards. Think it's cool when the post a portion of the film on the Net. Saw it this weekend with several members of the Legion (we had the 3 grand divisions of TN represented in that theater). Even though (as Ryan can atest) I fell asleep during an importnat part of the film, I thought it was pretty good. Here's the reposted story:
Bear with me as I put my Star Wars hat on backward for a few minutes and suggest you go see Serenity this weekend...
Universal Studios has taken an unusual step with Serenity the movie and put the entire first nine minutes of the movie online.
There aren't many cowboys in space with humor thrown in for fun like this that come along. Which is to say, if you liked Star Wars, and even if you never watched the ill-fated series Firefly, you should take in Serenity this weekend. I saw the movie and immediately watched the series on DVD, then saw it again. It was great fun all around and I highly recommend it.
Note: Serenity was created, written and directed by Joss Whedon, of Buffy and Angel fame. Now, I never watched Buffy or Angel, though I sure know a lot of people who did, so if you didn't either, don't let that put you off the movie.
I bet if you watch it, you'll go rent or buy Firefly on DVD right away. The movie is great, but there's much in the TV show you'll want to learn as well.

The movie was excellent. Saw it a couple of days ago. Unfortunately for me, I hadn't seen very many episodes of "Firefly," so I didn't get all the references I otherwise would have. Even so, it was still very enjoyable.

I'm seeing it again this weekend! Hopefully this time I won't miss the first four minutes like I did opening night.

As someone who has seen it 5 times, I say go see Serenity. It truly is a movie that you need to see at least twice.

I think the last movie that I saw more than once in a theater was TPM. However, I may consider seeing Serenity a second time.

Saw it for the first time tonight and enjoyed it very much..worth seeing in the theater at least 1 time and not waiting for the DVD. The ship Captain is everything Han Solo should of been.

My husband and I watched the whole Firefly series over the weekend. We were just talking about how the Captain would have made a great Han Solo. I really liked the movie as well. I'm just sorry that it didn't do better at the theatre.
