Anyone try to go to our website lately? If you do you'll find a message from godaddy.com that it reads "Notice: This domain name expired on 10/29/05 and is pending renewal or deletion." I set up a godaddy account over a year ago so that Matt could transfer ownership. For quite some time godaddy has claimed I don't have an account, but when I did I checked and there were no domain names assigned to me.
Plus many of you are probably seeing a large blacked out area to the left & at the top of the screen. This is partially due to the website being no more. We could have a generic thing place holder put in to fix that.
What do you guys want to do about this? I know nothing about website design or maintenance. Repeated requests to get new websites built by members who supposedly know how have fallen on deaf ears. So are we willing to pay for someone to design us a website, and if so do we want to keep the nashvilleforce domain name? Or do we want to forget having a website (like we've been doing since April) all together.
It's up to you guys. Ignore this post and NAD dies a little bit more. All opinions are welcomed.

I believe int he past we have rallied to chip in when money was due to keep the site. However, it has been a while so I may be wrong.
We have had a couple newbies make their way here without the homepage, so we know there are still local fans out there, and we can communicate here, obviously.
What are the steps to set up the site elsewhere?

I don't think that JediAgent nor I are unwilling to create a website. It's just that without the ability to change where nashvilleforce.com points, it's, well, pointless.
If we get a new domain like nashvilleafterdarth.com we could easily point it to a new site. We could initially point it to this board and then once a new website is created have it point there, or we could create a filler page for the website that would have a link to the board and would eventually be replaced by a more functional site. The same would be true if we could regain control of nashvilleforce.com

Thanks guys! I'm thinking for the time being we should assume that we've lost control of the domain name. When I requested them to send me "my" customer ID #, the asked for the domain name & then indicated that they would send the ID# to the registered email address that ended in "@comcast.com." I'm thinking this is Matt's old email address that is likely not even checked/used by him. To we want to try and "rebuy" the name when/if it becomes available? Do people have other suggestions for domain names for us to go for, e.g. nashvilleafterdarth.com, nashvillestarwars.com, nashSWgeeks.com, GoNads.com, etc.? The other thing to consider is if we want to change the chapter name. Some of us have hated the NAD moniker, so now is the chance to become the "Nashville Geek Society," "Dixie Dorks," or whatever. Heck, since the 501st doesn't use it anymore we could call ourselves the "Southern Garrison" but that would just lead to confusion.
If we get enough good suggestions we'll start a poll.

Alright if there is a change one big suggestuion avoid names and words like dixie, dork, and anything with a very falic moniker like nad. i mean whats with all the crotch referance. But that's just my two imp creds.

In talking with Ryan last night it sounds like job one is to get the name from godaddy.com. We're still thinking NashvilleForce is easier to remember. I'm afraid that people would try to remember Nashville After Darth and type in NashvilleAfterDark instead. Not even sure if that's a website, but nonetheless it wouldn't get them to us. With the holiday and my getting in late, I may not be able to act on this until after the weekend, so keep throwing out Chapter names, websites, & ideas.

Well if for some reason we can't get Nashvilleforce.com, we could always get Nashvilleforce.net just to get a site up, and then if we are able to get Nashvilleforce.com back have it direct to the same site.
