Comic show at the fairgrounds?
|
Greetings from the Paducah Imperials. Several of our fanforce members are thinking of coming down on the 29th to the comic show at the fairgrounds, I was wondering if any of you guys had any information on who what was going on with it.
Thanks.

It's sponsored by Comic City. Their website has a few details, but not much. Admission there is $3 and it runs from 10a-4p, according to the Fairgrounds website. Probably not as big as Horrorfest in October.

If it is anything like the previous toy shows, also sponsored by Comic City if I'm not mistaken, it has gotten progressively worse. My friend and I used to go every year since 1996. The first few were packed with plenty of vendors and lots of stuff for sale. They had that building completely filled with plenty of Sci-Fi and related toys and collectibles. There were plenty of deals to make and lots of things (including rare parts) to find. My friend collected GI-Joe, and I hunted for SW and Transformers...all was good.
The last few times we went, they barely used half the same building, no one wanted to deal, they all had the same stuff (with in reason), and half the vendors leave before the show is over. Granted, I have most of both collections as well as B5 stuff (which limits what they could get me to buy, but I am always looking for more things to complete my collection -- and at good prices. We even went as vendors the last few times. But few customers...or even lookers... came through the doors. They just don't advertise it enough. I've seen more this year than all the other years combined. If I thought it would be worth it, I'd go again, but lately it hasn't been worth the time.

Is this the Spring version of the show that was across from the Opryland Hotel? If so yeah that show was dreadful, except for meeting Eric Powell. So do you guys think it is worth the trip or should we wait and venture over to Knoxville in a few weeks?

AdventureCon will be awesome. There's no comparring that show to this one. Since you ask, I'd hold off on this "con" & save my gas money. At the current pump price it's just not worth it. You came to Horrorfest this past year? Wow, that was the smallest show ever. I was the Snowtrooper with the 501st. Thank the Maker that Cooter's Garage was nearby for getting some time with the General Lee.
