Okay, first time starting a thread. Hope I don't screw it up

Watching the Oscars the other night put me in the mind of looking up Oscar trivia, and I happened upon some stats for John Williams. If the info is correct, John Williams has been nominated 45 times!!!!!! and won 5.

I fell in love with the Star Wars music, well, when I saw SW in '77 at the movies, but really when I bought TESB ALBUM!! (yes, I am an old fogey) and played it over and over and over. Love all the music on it.

Anyway, check out the list of other GREAT John Williams soundtracks. It's awesome.

personal faves from Star Wars movies:
Binary sunset (when Luke is looking at the 2 settng suns on Tatooine)
Main Theme of course
Asteroid Field
Yoda's Theme
IMPERIAL MARCH
almost anything else from TESB
Emperor's theme ROTJ
Duel of the Fates TPM
Flag Parade TPM
Love theme AOTC
ROTS theme, Battle of the Heroes

Other JW music
Raiders themes, Harry Potter themes, Schindler's List
many others

What are your faves????
There is a great board on fanforce for the music

I have a cassette for ROTJ that has the older version of the Ewok Celebration music. I like it better than the one they put on the CD. The one on my cassette starts out with just the drums, adds a few instruments and then has more of an orchestra feel to it... I don't think the Ewoks can be heard on this version. I was hoping one of the CDs in the boxed set would have it...at least as an alternate. ROTJ and TESB are still my favorites. Some of the new episode music is great as well.

Yeah, that's the version on the album that I had, and it still seems very odd to hear the newer version on the DVDs. I like it too, but it's just not the same at all.

It isn't just the new DVDs. My CD boxed set that I got in 1994 or so also had the "new version". Even the alternate CD didn't have the original one on the older tape sad

Just have to say that I returned yesterday from a quick trip to south AL, and while fighting the Birmingham traffic, it was SOOOO nice to be driving and listening to the Asteroid Field from TESB. And what was really funny, was as I emerged from the frenetic stressful construction zone, where it opens up into 3 lanes, it was just at the end of the song, flute trills and all. How nice.
Nothing like some good Star Wars music to help the drive!

That is where you put in the Ewok Celebration as you leave the construction site... happy

I know Atlanta is a few hours from Nashville, but the symphony playing John William's masterpieces might be worth it. It is scheduled for July 11th.
