Hey guys and gals,
So what did you all think of Star Trek? I liked it, but I was not a watcher of the original, maybe a few episodes here and there, and then the movies. So, I thought it was really good.
Do you ever have to explain the difference between Star Wars and Star Trek to the masses? I do, I constantly have to emphasize that I am a Star wars fan, not a follower of Spock, etc. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but most don't know the difference.
Also saw Terminator. Very entertaining.
Next up, maybe Harry Potter if we can swing it.
Y'all have any movie reviews/recommendations??
Saw Fanboys at Target, didnt' get it yet
Just trying to make it through the summer doldrums in tv land.

Also, very proud to have finally put my sticker on the van that says 'My other vehicle is an X-wing fighter'
Now I plan to find my old stickers from the old fan club days and put one of those up wink

Star Trek was pretty good. I did wait for the credits to see if ILM was part of it. Of course, they were. And I am constantly clearing up the difference between the universes. Interesting twists to say the least. Also liked the origins for most of the original characters from TOS.

I will probably see Terminator before the week is over. I like that new series, but they have also re-written history like they did in Star Trek. Also looking forward to the next Transformers movie coming out in a month or so. Of course, they re-defined plenty of main characters...so I guess it comes with the territory.

Yeah, hubby said the alternate reality allowed for so much freedom in Star trek, so he was able to 'believe' the movie better, without it having to stick to the shows so much.
I need to see the first Transformers, forgot about that coming out. we also missed Wolverine, but will save it for a renter I guess. So far behind on renting, finally watched James Bond/Quantum/Solace, which was excellent.
Just glad the Star Trek movie was done so well.
Oh, also just bought Willow, and our daughter loves it.
Any Willow fans? We loved it way back when...

One good thing is that I had not heard much on the origins for the characters. What little I was aware of was actually well represented in the movie. The de-evolution of the starships was also done well. Spock's "relationship" didn't seem all that beleivable, but destroy the movie. Ahead full...

Will they make another based off this one...?

I saw Terminator, which was also a fun movie, but I won't say it "solved" any mysteries for me. I did not conflict with the plot line, but didn't take the TV series into account at all.

Can't wait to see Transformers!!!

I need to get with it and see the first Transformers. I haven't watched the Terminator series yet, but I will. We liked that it tied in a lot with the original Term movie, all of the Kyle Reese, etc, used her voice, CGI Arnold, etc. glad to see Connor all grown up, and I was gueesing often as to how it would all play out. Still, a typical McG action movie. Hope to rent/buy the series soon tho.

*Jumps in* Star Trek was great! I grew up on the old series and on TNG and I loved the Alt-storyline. I can totally see a sequel.
I saw the first Transformers and loved it too. I want to see this one that is out too. I grew up on the TV show as a kid.

Me too!!! alien_1 Can't wait. Like most movies made from prior works, they did take some liberties with Transformers, mostly in the character list (faction/robot/vehicle-item). The plotline itself is reasonably intact with only a few slight variations from one or two episodes. Otherwise, excellent movie.

Fans of GI Joe will also have a live-action movie to see soon. I wonder what the next cartoon is that will be turned into a live-action movie?

Star Trek was also very well made. I would go see a sequel...which I would bet Spock's Vulcan ancestory will happen. I think I would even like to see a Next Generation version, with Picard and crew as a young officer...though I guess Data would look much the same. I will admit that I was waiting to see the characters fade away, like in Back to the Future. To quote Professor Hubert Farnsworth, "Choke on that Causality!"

--"What color does a Smurf turn when you choke it?"

Smurfs in Star Wars...:
Darth Smurfer..."Don't make me Smurf you."
Emporer Gargomell..."Wipe them off, all of them."
Jabba the Smurf..."Ooh ooh oh" in a tiny, highpitched voice.
C-3P-Smurf..."I smurf, over there, were you smurfing for me?"
A2-D-Smurf..."beep beep, boop, smurf!"
Boba Smurf..."He's no smurf to me dead..."
Smurftrooper..."Look, Smurf, droids."
