Welcome

Emke & Mads Haumann
Brussels, Belgium
The couple enjoyed a quiet, yet romantic dinner. They made small conversation and relaxed as couples do. To their credit, the topic of moving to New York was left out of the equation for the remainder of evening, as Mads inspiring classical music played in the background.
Although he yet had to accept his promotion,
Mads
was aware that the move also included some nice perks, for instance, he could choose where in Manhattan he wanted to live. The choices were many. He could live near the U.N. Building, Uptown, Midtown, the Upper West Side, or the Upper East side. The truth of the matter was, that the luxury of his domicile was not as important as having beautiful
Emke
by his side...and no job or earthly power could ever separate him from the woman he loved.
The melifluous music continued to play as the sweet wine was poured once again.

Linus Creed (The Blue Vortex )
Parr Residence; Los Angeles, California
Without warning, a light blue, slightly transparent forcefield appeared in front of the Parr's home, separating the bricked house from the madness outside.
Reactions amongst the crowed varied. Most gasped in surprise at the unexpected appearance of the force field. Those who instigated the whole sordid affair tried to add fuel to the fire with shouts of "Muties" and "Freaks", but some among them did marvel at the supernatural display, uttering words like "Wow", "Super" or "Incredible" to themselves.
"I believe that is enough!" came the deep voice of the all-too-familiar hero of the city.
The Blue Vortex
hovered down on a light blue, floating disc that he had created with the ability to levitate. He could create an ample amount of necessities that would keep him and the Parr's safe from the rioters, if such a need arose. "Return to your homes immediately!"
"There's he is! MUTANT!!" someone shouted, and a few weak minded picked up the refrain, but the Blue Vortex was a HERO who fought evil doers in behalf of common folk, and not everyone reacted as the rioters had expected. Most of the gathered stared, taking in their first sight seeing of a livi8ng hero, instead of just seeing one through their television screens.
"It's the BLUE VORTEX" a different voice shouted from within the crowed, clearly in recognition of the imposing figure. At that moment, there was a wave of uneasiness that overcame the crowd. They were suddenly faced with a living being, rather than a neatly abstarcetd concept in their minds. Perhaps for once, they'd have to think things through for themselves.
However, Sirens could be heard in the distance...and that was all the encouragement the instigators needed to hear.
"Get outta here Mutie! we don't want yer kind 'round here!!"
A stone was flung, but it was a futile effort as it simply bounced-off the Blue vortex's protective blueish force field.
Behind the Blue Vortex, however unseen, a female voice could be heard only by him coming from behind the force field.
"Thank you so much for your help friend, we can't thank you enough. I fear we have no real way to repay you....but thanks. You kept my husband from making a BIG MISTAKE." The female voice said. Undoubtedly, Linus did recognize the voice which belonged to
Mrs.Parr
. A lmost as if on cue, a disapproving masculine growl was heard for a brief moment, then it was muffled out, almost as if a hand was placed over the mouth from which it originated.
"Uhm...could you do us a small favour and open your force field protecting the back of the house? I think it's best if we leave for several nights until this registration thing dies down, if ever. You should leave here once we make it through. And uhm...Thank you, once again, Blue Vortex. We owe ya one."
Without another word or sound, the voice was gone. Moments later, The Blue Vortex could feel a knocking from the inside of his force field at the back of the house.
Unsurprisingly, the sound of incoming sirens got louder by the moment. It sounded like at least half-a-dozen vehicles. To compound things, the spectacle had only attarcted only more onlookers, and in that, Blue Vortex also managd to espy several of the trouble makers waving to each other as they began to move towards the back of the house as well.
It was clear that being a hero in this day was more challenging than ever.
A reminder of this came as Blue Vortex distinguihed another distinct sound in the air. Still far way, was the unmistakable sound of a helicopter. Whether it was the cops of the evening news, it mattered little, for it spelled the same thing.
Bad News.
Needless to say, time was of the essence.

Abominus
Deanville, Texas
The figure looked directly at
Abominus
as he took a long drag from the cigarette, then blew out several rings of smoke, ending the little stunt with an evil and knowing smirk.
Abominus stopped, mid-stride, and looked at the figure directly in the eyes. This was probably the first time that he wasn't met with a look of fear. He didn't like it one bit.
"Lost?"
The man chuckled, obviously amused. He held Abominus' gaze for a solid beat, then looked towards the half smoked cigarette. With a disdainful flick of his finger, he sent the unfinished cigarette sailing into the rainy darkness at an incredible speed that could not be tracked by normal sight alone.
"No, I'm not lost at all...Abominus, is it?"
The gave a humorless half-smile as he shoved his hands in his pant pockets and stepped into the full rain and walked steadily towards Abominus, and still he remained completely dry.
"You're quite infamous, or so I'm told." The man said off-handedly. His slight european accent somewaht detectable. "The local authorities are investing a great deal of resources to hunt you down...and when that registration is signed, your days will certainly be numbered."
The man chuckled in mock amusement.
"I bet you'd like nothing more to go out in a blaze of glory, eh? Well, I can't blame you. I'd say it sounds like fun; however....there are other individuals besides the authorities who's notice you've attracted."
The figure stopped once again, and began to light another cigarette. He took a moment, blew out another set of rings, then continued the conversation.
"Question is...what do YOU want out of all this, assuming you've even stopped to think about any of it, eh? Guts and Glory, or a Piece of the Future?"
Torque
gave the criminal fugitive another knowing smile before casually taking another drag of the cigarette.

Marty Sayre a.k.a Knightfall
Internet Cafe, Dover, Delaware
Marty smiled as he was accepted and given allowance to go after Abominus.
I have been given, perhaps, the toughest assignment of my life. I better not mess this one up.
After a moment of thinking, Marty decided to stay where he was for just a few moments longer, typing up one last e-mail message to the MCU.
"To begin my hunt, can you give me any leads on the latest known whereabouts of the mutant? Or shall I proceed on my own?"
Clicking 'Send', Marty waited for the response. After it...it would be time for the Hunt once again.
He felt a little bad, having accepted a bounty already again and not giving any more time to Allie, but he felt this was one he needed.
Marty only had to wait a few more moments before he got an encrypted response in his mailbox.
To Agent Knightfall:
Abominous Update: Less than one Hour ago.
A woman in Deanville, Texas [She has no previous criminal record] called local authorities and claimed to have seen Abominus in person. She made a positive ID at the local police station, but subsequent patrols were unable to find him afterwards, as this is his usual M.O. Abominus allegedly possesses 'morphing' abilities that render him nearly impossible to find whenever he chooses to go into hiding.
Proceed with extreme caution and Good Hunting.
MCU
Marty had recieved his tip. There was no question that the MCU wanted this guy badly. If that information was available to him, there was no telling who else would use this data to 'rob' him of his bounty.
There was no more time for hesitation. Now it was time to HUNT.

Inara
Unkown location, Spartan Room
Inara
heard the voice ask who was this Sam and if she was done throwing her tantrum. The room creeped her out and she hated the collar. She rolled her eyes in anger and annoynance.
"Sam is another mutant who annoyes the crap out of me and needed help at the moment in time. Now, she's fine, and I wasn't throwing a fit !"she exclaimed.
Inara was pissed off. Now, she actually wanted to go back to Xavier's, wherever she was.
"Where am I ?!"she yelled.
The voice answered in a cold a cryptic manner.
["Another outbusrt like that and you will be immediately sedated, there will not be another warning."]
The voice paused to make sure it's point was understood.
["...and I am the one asking the questions here. However, perhaps it will help if you understand your situation a little better. You are a mutant, an aberration of nature and a menace to society at large. This facility serves a multiplicity of purposes, like training and re-education, and what happens to you here depends largely on you, whether you cooperate or not. Your stay here could be a long or short, the choice is yours. Do you undretsnd?"]
Perhaps the tomb like silence that followed was Inara's first clue of what she was dealing with.

Roxanne Moore a.k.a "Hourglass"
Chronoverse
Roxanne
seemed puzzled, and she had every right to be. She was in a strange place which appeared to operate much differently from her place of origin. Not only that, due to lack of training, she often forgot the limits of her abilities, especially since she could imagine doing so much more.
Crossing her arms across her chest, Roxanne looked over the frozen children.
"Okay, Roxanne... you're dreaming... just... unfreeze them, and see what happens. You're being stupid." She said to herself. "This is all in your mind. Everything is in your mind. Just unfreeze them and this will all end."
With a sigh from Roxanne, time continued again. Roxanne awaited the woman to respond, either with a scream of terror or a welcoming bellow.
Hopefully the latter.
Indeed the flow of time resumed and the woman was now able to speak her words. She looked directly at Roxanne as she did so.
"By the stars! what are you doing dressed like that!? and the colour of your hair!? Have you lost your mind? Are your abilities somehow....failing you?"
The woman in grey stood up and quickly walked over to Roxanne. The expression on her average looking face was a mixture of alarm and concern. Her dark hair was picked up and styled in a french braid. She looked all around before placing her arms around Roxanne's shoulders. Before moving, she quickly spoke to the children in a language Roxanne had never heard before.
"Poor dear, it MUST be the sickness. Please come into the house before you attract unwanted attention."
The woman gave Roxanne a sympathetic smile and was about to walk her towards her house, when time came to a stop once again.

Technus
Xavier mansion, Front Lawn
"Damn this is definitely not the hood anymore".
Even in the light of the late evening,
Curtis "Slim Deuce" Carter
could appreciate the breath-taking architecture that pervaded the Xavier Institute for Highre Learning. The young man walked up th efront lawn of the institute, 'smelling the roses' as it were. Thoughts of students and teachers occupied his mind, and such was his idealistic impression of the institute, that he unwittingly mistook the reality of the situation in progress for something out of a story book.
An honest mistake, for sure.
"Man this must be the spot".
What he mistook as a class session, was actually an unfortunate fight about to take place.
Curtis was dressed in a long white t-shirt, loose fitting pair of blue jeans, a loose hat with the logo of L.A. in blue, a pair of aviator sunglasses, a chrome colored wrist watch, and a pair of white high top shoes with a back pack and duffle bag slung over his back and shoulder. Curtis really couldn't see anyone around who seemed to have a moment to spare so he just relaxed and watched the small group infront of him carrying out their class.
"I guess nobody told them Slim Deuce was in the house", Curtis quiped quietly as he adjusted his sunglasses a bit to get a better view of the scene infront of him........
Precisely at that moment, a light flashed behind him, just over his left shoulder. A female figure completely encased in silver seemed to appraise him for the span of a heartbeat. Even before Curtis could begin to speak, the female addressed him.
["Welcome to the Xavier Institute for Higher Learning, Curtis Carter. I am
Jocasta
, the institute's interactive A.I. Pardon my brusque manner, but I must ask you to move to a minimum SAFE DISTANCE of at least 33.33 meters from your present position. Please comply immediately."]
The image of Jocasta began to move backwards, as she beckoned the newcomer to follow. Just as she did this, a wolfish howl tore through the moonlit darkness as the sounds of battle began to fill the night.

Sage (Armoured Amaterasu ), Malice, Wolf, Bad Boy, Eagle's Breath, The Magician vs Rain, Bo Black (Black Jack), DejaVu, Xion, Angelfire & Wraith, DVC
Xavier Mansion, Front Entrance
No more words were needed as the inevitable encounter began.
Wolf's
howl had been the proverbial 'bell' which set events in motion. It seemed that everyone began to move at once, not unlike a great and deadly choreographed dance.
Bad Boy
was already in motion, throwing himself into a shoulder roll and letting both his guns bl;aze at
Bo Black
who tracked the vigilante with a series of repeating blue quarts beams, even as he performed an impossible somersault over Bad Boy's line of fire. The scene looked like something out of the matrix, as Bad Boy's bullets harmlessly zipped past Bo Black a.k.a
Black Jack
, and one of his Blue beams tagged Bad boy on the left shoulder with tremendous impact. One didn't have to guess that Black jack was clearly using his limited precognition to avoid the bullets, but thankfully, Bad Boy's protective trench coat absorbed most of the impact, while his healing factor took care of the rest of the damage he sustained.
The same could not be said for the Mansion walls were his bullets struck.
Black Jack landed easily and set himself to run full speed at
Wolf
. Even as he did so, Bo Black smiled darkly, as he quickly peppered his feral target with several blue beams.
Bad Boy was no longer his concern as
Rain
pounced on the gun-toting vigilante and enveloped him in a watery sphere, in an effort to drown him where he was.
Looking over,
Eagle's Breath
nodded to the
Magician
, "Do what you can". Turning he shouted for the benifit of his friends or allies, "I call out the flyer that appears to be compensating for something! That's right, I call you out and any friend you need with ya!"
And then crouching down, he began to move toward his intended arial target. Luckily such an opponent might underestimate him and his grounded status.
That was quite a possibility which remained to be seen, as
AngelFire
seemed to respond to
Eagle's Breath
challenge.
"I shall be your opponent!" The educator said darkly, as he swooped down towards the enigmatic man. AngelFire's disparate wings beat powerfully as they sent him diving. His energy sword trailed luminesence as it began to pulse with power and intent. Almos instantly, he was as close as 5 meters over his target, AngelFire then swung his sword mightily, letting lose a volley of sizzling brilliance at Eagle's Breath.
Should the Shaman be hit by the discharge, there would be little left to recognize him by.
Nearby,
Sage
had been eyeing the powerful psionic known as
Wraith
. With her mind set on him, she advanced with determination in every step, however,
Deja Vu
suddenly leapt before her, twirling his Bo Staff menacingly as he landed.
"Surprise to see me, Sage? Let's see what kinda skills you got. Too bad for you that I can copy all your moves." Deja Vu taunted.
Sage had to remind herself that the boy was not totally in control of himself.
"I have no time for silly games. Sorry about this."
Without another word, Sage struck down Deja Vu, but not with her hands and feet, nor with her sword. She hit him with a powerful Mind-Blast that sent the young man sailing through the air for several meters before he landed unconcious. Sage took the quickest tactical route in this isntance, not bothering to have a long drawn-out fight with the gravitic and kinestetic mutant.
"Better to have a throbbing headache when you wake up than the alternative..." Sage said to the unconcious young man. She turned then to look at her original target and saw exactly what she was hoping to avoid.
Wraith
had smoothly levitated towards
Malice
and was now floating a mere 5 meters from her.
"You know you do not belong with them." The dark psionic stated as a matter-of-fact. His tattered robes waved ominoulsy in the night, as his form was shrouded in that eerie blue-grey glow of his. "Xavier and his brood must be brought low, so they may learn the errors of their ways...Join us."
The darkness whispered excitedly to
Malice
, encouraging her to strike out against the X-men.
"Alice! Don't listen to them!" Sage shouted out. "Remember WHO you ARE!"
Wraith paid no attention to Sage as he waited for malice to respond.
Not a far behind them, the
Magician
shook his head at
Xion
.
"Stop this!" He shouted. "Can't you see there is no reason for this senseless attack? You are being controlled! Fight it! Let us help you!"
From Xion's devilish smile, Robert knew that his words would have had greater effect on deaf ears.
The air began to wave all around the Magician, as Xion used his control of energy and quickly agitated the molecules surrounding his teammate. In response, the Magician's eyes began to glow.
"I won't let you hurt anyone." Robert asserted, as the air around him suddenly burst into flames.
Xion laughed cacophonously as he engulfed the magician in a bright swirling pillar of fire. But the effect only lasted briefly. In a blink of an eye, the roaring fiery pillar ceased it's rotation as it was transformed into crystaline ice, and then with the same suddeness, the icy pillar was shattered and came tumbling down in countless shards of glinting ice, which melted as they came in contact with the earth. In the middle of the receeding puddle, stood the Magician. His hands and eyes glowing with power.
"Stop this now, or so help me you will regret it!"
Robert pointed an accusing finger at Xion, who's only response was more eerie laughter. Robert did not fail to notice the edge of frustration in Xion's voice. Unfortunately, his observations were cut short when a barrage of lightning was launched his way.
Presently unseen, quiet , unmoving and unbeknownst to almost everyone present, but to a precious few,
Hermes
looked down at the developing conflict from his place atop the Mansion's roof. His thoughts and intentions remained completely his own as his eyes carefully scanned the battlefield.

N'dare, Karra, Iori, Recoil, Plasma, Geoff, Enzo, Frostbite, Shadow Spite, NightHunter
Xavier Mansion, corridors & Restricted ward area
Inside his protective dome,
Jayson
took full advantage of
NightHunter's
personal predicament, as the mutant groaned and faltered in his attack for reasons unknown.
Plasma
used the liquid flexibility of his form and shot forth his head as a battering ram, making audible smacking contact as he struck NightHunter full on in the forehead. The blue skinned assailant went sprawling on the floor unconcious, as he was not prepared to receive the brunt of the blow dished at him by Jayson.
"Take that!" Jayson quipped, but found his dome shape receeding, then suddenly reverting to humanoid form, and eventually full human form, as the pain incurred by
Diabolos'
lava blasts finally began to fully register.
"That really hurts!" he said through gritted teeth, not realizing the extent of the burns he'd sustained to his back.
Geoff
and
Enzo
could only look on in disbelief. Luckily, Jocasta was already on the case, silently alerting a medical team of the situation.
Some distance down the corridor, near the restricted ward area, Shikimaru a.k.a
Shadowspite
lay in the floor unconciouss, as did
Frostbite
. Both had now reverted back to their fully human forms. Next to them, Iori a.k.a
Dragon Fist Orochi
, knelt beside the wounded
Recoil
, who had been unintentionally hit by 'friendly fire', or more specifically, Iori's focused Ki-Blast.
The gifted martial artist had powered down by now, and his 'blond' hair reverted back to its natural dark colour. Iori was going to need all that extra energy for the task at hand. His blast had hurt Recoil pretty badly. Iori could feel the man fading right infront of him.
Iori closed his eyes and did not hesitate to put both his hands over his wounded teammate. The wound on Recoil's chest was terrible, but Iori was not using his eyes to see, but his Ki-abilities. He traced the vital areas that were most affected by his focus Ki-blast and now worked methodically at repairing them. Primarily, He needed to restore the inner energy flow in recoil, just as he delved to boost the man's natural healing abilities. Iori was well aware that
Lazer
was a far greater healer than himself, but all he needed to do hear was to stabilize his ally enough to get him to the infirmary.
"C'mon, man. You're strong. Help me do this." Iori urged the slowly fading man. As he concentrated, Iori's dragon tatoo began to glow again. He was of the mind to saturate Recoil with enough energy to keep him stable until they reached the infirmary. It stood to reason, since warriors of legend could sustain and survive what would be considered mortal wounds to a common man.
With his limited healing abilities, Iori mended what vital areas he could manage, then put his arms under Recoil and lifted the powerful man, for he was no slouch in the strength department either.
"Jocasta, I'm bringing him in." Iori said, even as he turned towards the infirmary. His steps driven by unexpressed feelings of guilt.
["Acknowledged."] Jocasta answered.
Meanwhile,
Karra
and
N'dare
both got silent reports from Jocasta, alerting them of the situations occuring both At the Institute's Front Entrance and the Infirmary. Fortunatelly, N'dare's surprise shock treatment was not necessary for those in the corridor, however, his instruments were picking up strange readings from inside
Mental's
open room.

Thera, Aurora, Blink, Hawk, Elana, Wei Chen, Surge & Jocasta
Xavier Mansion, Infirmary
The situation inside the infirmary suddenly took an unexpected turn of events now that
Ogre
was loose again. The mighty Ogre presently had the defenseless Wei Chen by the neck. How frigile he looked. Surge stirred in his groggy state, but was incoherent for the most part. Ogre demanded to speak with Professor N'dare and Blink was now playing the part of negotiator, as he informed the overmuscled mutant and the Professor was attending to the present crisis. Despite all this, it was still amazing to see Ogre able to create a hostage situation inside the infirmary while having a broken arm, of his 'own' doing.
The medbots continued their work as they prepared more beds for the growing number of patients. A few rooms away, Jack and Elana shared a family moment together. Jocasta made sure to sound proof their room as she did not wish them to be harmed or disturbed. At the same time, the A.I. covertly trained a neuro-paralyzing appliance on Ogre, should negotiations fail.
Wei Chen struggled weakly and in vain against his captor, as he could muster little resistance after his own ordeal against the possessed Frostbite.
Anything could happen in the next few moments, as Jocasta waited either for the professor to give the signal, Blink and Aurora to talk him out of making a mistake or the most opportune moment to strike at Ogre.
Not to mention,
Thera
, who had just emerged from unconciousness, was now included into the equation, as she was now not only a witness, but by default a participant in the unfolding drama.

Lera
Xavier Mansion, Infirmary
Sensing
Lera's
concern,
Erik
regarded the young mutant with a reasuring smile before he spoke.
"Lera, I see there was a shadowy entity who was in your dreams earlier. I believe he is causing some disruption within the Institute. I just want you to know that this is the safest place for you at the moment, especially with me here, but if you want to help your fellow students who may need your help at the moment, I'd like you to focus on 'positive thoughts'. Think of as many genuinly good things as you can. I can boost and broadcast those feelings."
Professor X gave Lera a conspirational look and a wink.
"I really don't think it likes happy thoughts." he finished saying with a smile.

Sam
Xavier Mansion, Infirmary
John
let
Sam
cry herself unto she was finally calm. He had already given her his handkerchief to use as needed.
All the while, John followed the situation within the Mansion, as he glanced at his wrist communicator now and again.
"Now, let us look at those burns, shall we?" John commented to Sam, smiling charmingly at the girl and focusing his ocean blue eyes on her. Even as he began to inspect her burns, a medbot made it into Sam's room, ready to work on her. He wanted to inquire about what caused her to have such a violent reaction in her dreams, but thought better of it, not wanting the episode to repeat itself all over again. Inwardly, he was concerened about the conflicts happening all around the institute, but in his estimation, Sage and N'dare had things under control, if barely. He had to admit that he was eager to join them, but not at the cost of a student's well being.
Right now Sam needed his help.
If the situation took a turn for the worst, then he'd have no recourse but to become directly involved once again.
"Feeling any better?" John managed to ask Sam as he looked at the medbot's prognosis.

Mental, NightFall, Lazer, N'dare & "The Shadow"
Xavier Mansion, Restricted Wards, Mental's Room
Professor N'dare
remained undetected by vertue of technology, but he was very well aware of the goings on around the Mansion. It was under his command that the doors to Mental's Room was opened, and now, though the room was still dark, N'dare's instruments indicated that something strange was going on inside that room. Actually, he could almost feel it. If it were not for his personal protections, perhaps he too would have succumb to the sinister whispers that filled the air.
Inside his assigned Room,
Mental
was free to go, so it stood to reason that perhaps it was curiosity mixed with his own unrevealed intentions that kept him where he was for the time being. Undoubtedly, Mental certainly felt the temperature drop inside his room, which could be easily attributed to someone like Professor N'dare or a simple mechanical malfunction in the heating system, given the current state of crisis; however, this cold could be felt not only in the body, but also in the soul.
In the far corner of the room, the darkness pulsed vehemently. It was so dark that it almost made itself 'visible' in contrast to its surroundings. Not only that, the whispers had grown more agitated by the moment.
The high pitched sound that permeated the corridors grew in intensity and the darkness seemed to wince, but only for a moment.
A dark and sinister voice filled the cold and dark room seconds later, or was it Mental's mind?
"You are a wretched and unworthy vessel for power
Nathan Lotts
, prepare yourself, for your reckoning is at hand!"
The darkness pulsed again with greater intensity and it seemed to grow and swell. It's vastness seemed to rear itself past the heights of the very room that housed it. Dark power emmanated from it, just as it was poised to strike at the recently awoken Mental.
In the shadows that encompassed the room, another undetected presence emerged just then. It was devoid of devotion, yet it was full of primal intent. Thus far, it had remained undetected through cunning artifice, but for how long could it remain that way, and could it actually act without giving itself away, especially while carrying a passanger of unguessed brilliance within its dak folds.
The next crucial moments would determine wether or not the combine, yet un-orchestrated efforts of
Professor N'dare, Mental, Lazer
and
KnightFall
could indeed disuade the power that was
The Shadow King
.

IC: Hermes
Up on the Rooftop (click-click-click)
Hermes, still slightly hung over from his and Rowan's quazi-therapy session, Hermes crouched upon the roof like a large blue Gargoyle. His large metal helmet covered his head, the silver winged skull shining in the moonlight. His staff was proudly displayed, Resting in his hand, and his wings making a very horrifing outline in the night sky. He crouched completely still, just in case someone were to spot him, though the odds were highly unlikely. The only thing left to give him away was his trench coat, which fluttered slightly in the wind.
He looked on at the battlefield below, which was more or less undercontrol. His eyes strained in the low light, and he remined himself that he should really visist N'dare about upgrading his helmet.
Static rang in his ear at various intervals, as Jocasta had tapped into the Military radios for him. Jocasta was also keeping him up to the minute on the various happening around the mansion, save a few details here and there. For instance, he was yet to learn that N'dare had opened the door to Mental's cell. That would have sent him over the edge.
But for now, he was focused on the perimiter. THe students brawling stories below him, and the comandoes hidding in the wood, awaiting their time to move. He looked down over the front lawn once more, making sure the students hadn't killed each other yet, before backing slowly into the shadows made by the roofs many gables and steeples.
"Jocasta." he said in a low whisper, which, had it not been for the throat mic and the computers super human hearing, would have likely gone unheard, "Keep an eye on the brawl below, and alert me to any life threatening changes. Also try to triangulate the armies base camp using the radio transmittions."
He didn't wait for an afirmation, but rather kept moving, he needed to make a stop by the garage before continuing with his plans.

Mental was a proud man. He was strong and he let others know it. But, he also knew when to quit. He was a genious, not an idiot as many belived. This thing was bigger than him, and he knew it. But, he knew he had back up...just outside that door...just out....
"My name isn't Nathan. My name is Mental, and you will bow to me and my awsome power!" He said, lifting himself off the floor and cackling with rage. A ploy, but nothing very out of character if the brotherhood had sent this thing.
Before the beast could attack, or in any other way respond, Mental sent himself flying out the doors behind him, shouting to N'dare as he passed through them.
"Close the Doors!"

RE: The Xavier Institute for Higher Learning: Path of Heroes
Lilith Darque, Toga, Plaga
Hammer Bay, The Citadel
Lady Darque
was pleased to see her two femme fatales ready to join her without hesitation. For a brief second, she felt the sting of disappointment when
Kinetic
failed to understand the subtlety of the situation and did not follow suit. Well, it couldn't be helped. It wasn't his fault that he was terminally afflicted with 'maleness', for nature had played a practical joke on them all. Though clearly physically stronger, generally speaking, males were outnumbered by their female counterparts, who were clearly the real power behind every male monarch that had ever existed.
Lilith
chuckled softly to herself and gracefully gestured for
Toga
and
Plaga
to join her in the Portal Room, where Doorway would open a teleportation 'door' that would lead them to the Brotherhood's Mahhattan Brownstone in America.
"There's a little private party we're inviting ourselves to. Our objective is simple: Leave a lasting impression. A limousine will be waiting for us once we arrive at the Brownstone."
Lilith gave a small smile before opening the doors to the portal room with a gesture. Inside, the portal was already open and waiting for the deadly trio to step through. A small portion of the luxurious Brownstone's receiving room was visible.
"Well, shall we?" Lilith said to her two beauties. She believed in leading by example, as she gracefully raised a shapely leg and began to cross the brightly coloured portal.

Citadel Lounge
All those who spectated the arm wrestling constest froze in abject shock as
Shifter
did the unspeakable.
He kissed
Esmeralda
full on the lips.
The ploy had worked like a charm, as it took the green haired power house completely by surprise, allowing him to bring down her arm and win the contest.
Of course, winning was the least of his problems.
To his credit, Shifter took full advantage of the moment while everyone, icluding Esmeralda, was too stunned to react. Shifter escaped the Citadel Lounge with his life.
Fully realizing what had hapened, Esmeralda reached the Lounge door with but a single leap. Everyone moved out of the mighty green haired female's way. Rage coursed through her as she knocked the reinforced doors out of their hinges with a mighty blow. Esmeralda was so angry she was out for blood, and she almost missed the sight infront of her.
"OUT OF MY WAY!!" she yelled as she reached for the figure standing in the doorway, realizing only to late who it was. Esmeralda's hand blistered instantly and she leapt back.
"LORD EXODUS!!" she exclaimed in surprise and instantly fell to one knee, even as she held her blistered hand.
The music in the Citadel Lounge stopped completely as the mighty Acolyte leader stood where the entrance doors used to be.
"Your thoughts betray you Esmeralda, you know I forbid killing amongst the ranks. Are you defying my edict?"
"N-no, Lord Exodus, never that...." Stammered the angry woman, trying vainly to contain her blistering rage.
"Good. Do not try my patience, and don't let me have to warn you again. I detest repeating myself on so basic a subject."
The mighty Exodus regarded the rest of the Lounge, which seemed to hold it's breath in unison.
"As you were."
Slowly, the image of the Genoshan Viceroy faded from view and Esmeralda rose from her kneeling position. Still, no one spoke, at least not loud enough to be heard. Thankfully, the music came back to mask the whispers.
"If anyone wants me, I'll be at the 'killing fields'.....right now I need to bust some skulls open before I explode."
Without looking back or uttering another word, Esmeralda angrily strode through the busted Lounge doorway.
It would take a few moments before anyone was brave enough to utter a comment.
******************
Back in the Atlas Room, Lord Exodus exhaled a small sigh of annoyance. He disliked these interruptions for he had far more pressing issues to attend to. Falling into his meditative trance once again, the mighty mutant continued to survey the events which held his interest this evening, events which will have far reaching consequences in the very near future.

IC: Wolf
Black Jack landed easily and set himself to run full speed at Wolf. Even as he did so, Bo Black smiled darkly, as he quickly peppered his feral target with several blue beams. Wolf ducked and rolled then lept into the air spinning horizontally as he wove his way through the barrage of deadly beams. Wolf's movements seeming almost blurred as his heightened reflexes pushed him around the fusillade and towards his opponent. Wolf knew he had to close the distance and did it as quickly as he could...and keep his skin.
Even as the smell of his singed clothing reached his sensitive nostrils he was at striking distance. He rolled under a last blue bolt that left a after haze across Wolf's vision and came up, lashing his right foot across his face in a inside crecent kick at Bo's wrist, to knock it out of the way and break it before using the momentum of the kick to continue his graceful spin into a vicious, lightning fast side kick to the young man's sternum. He knew he was to go as easy as possible but he couldn't underestimate his opponents and as such sought to eliminate them from the fight as soon as possible.

Roxanne looked wildly about her. She had still been trying to figure out what the woman was talking about when time had stopped again. "WHAT DO YOU WANT ME TO DO!!!" She yelled to the sky, frustrated to no end.
Third time's the charm...
Roxanne thought.
No!
She argued with herself.
No.
The curiousity was killing her. Roxanne just had to know what the woman was talking about. What these people were all about! But, she was also now worried, for time had stopped yet again.
"Are your abilities somehow....failing you?" The woman had asked.
Did she know about Roxanne's ability? Did she know that Roxanne could play with time?
And how could they be failing her! No! Never! Roxanne knew she had control over her powers. Within her mind, she laughed at herself bitterly. Control? She had killed Xavier because of her lack of control! No, she had no control what-so-ever. Nor did she know the extent of her ability. She was a danger to herself, and her friends.
"Is that what you want me to learn from this? That I can't trust myself?" She yelled to the sky. Still... nothing.... The silence was driving her crazy. "WHY DON'T YOU ANSWER ME!!!!"

IC: The Blue Vortex
Parr Residence; Los Angeles, California
Over the course of his superhero tenure, the Blue Vortex had learned to blow off all of the profane remarks thrown at him from the humans who didn't know how to appreciate his actions, and only viewed him as an "alien", a Mutant who didn't belong in their world. There wasn't exactly a shortage of these remarks from the members of the upset crowd, whose intentions of disturbing the Parr family had just been interrupted and cut short by the blue hero himself.
"There's he is! MUTANT!!"
someone shouted.
"Get outta here Mutie! we don't want yer kind 'round here!!"
At last, a kind voice reached the ears of Vortex, that unmistakable, beautiful voice of Helen Parr.
"Thank you so much for your help friend, we can't thank you enough. I fear we have no real way to repay you... but thanks. You kept my husband from making a BIG MISTAKE."
Almost as if on cue, a disapproving masculine growl was heard for a brief moment, then it was muffled out, almost as if a hand was placed over the mouth from which it originated.
Vortex chuckled. "Happy to help, Mrs. Parr," he said as he maintained his position against the riotous crowd.
"Uhm... could you do us a small favour and open your force field protecting the back of the house? I think it's best if we leave for several nights until this registration thing dies down, if ever. You should leave here once we make it through. And uhm... Thank you, once again, Blue Vortex. We owe ya one."
"Don't mention it." Without another word or sound, the voice was gone. Moments later, Vortex could feel a knocking from the inside of his force field at the back of the house. Using his mind, a hole was created where the knock came from, large enough to let the Parrs out yet small enough to keep their home safe.
Unsurprisingly, the sound of incoming sirens got louder by the moment. It sounded like at least half-a-dozen vehicles. To compound things, the spectacle had only attarcted only more onlookers, and in that, Vortex also managd to espy several of the trouble makers waving to each other as they began to move towards the back of the house as well.
And then, yet another distinct sound made its way to the ears of Vortex, the sound of a helicopter. Either the cops or the evening news, the task remained the same.
By this time, the Parrs were surely out of their home and on their way to safety. If trouble arose, Vortex was sure that Violet, the daughter with abilities similar to his own, could protect them while Dash, one of two sons, sped away with Bob, Helen, and little Jack-Jack in tow. Such a remarkable family.
But for Vortex, there were more pressing matters at hand.

IC: Abominus
Deanville, Texas
The man chuckled at Abominus' inquiry, obviously amused. He held Abominus' gaze for a solid beat, then looked towards the half smoked cigarette. With a disdainful flick of his finger, he sent the unfinished cigarette sailing into the rainy darkness at an incredible speed that could not be tracked by normal sight alone. Abominus cocked an eyebrow.
"No, I'm not lost at all...Abominus, is it?"
The man gave a humorless half-smile as he shoved his hands in his pant pockets and stepped into the full rain and walked steadily towards Abominus, and still he remained completely dry.
"You're quite infamous, or so I'm told,"
the man said off-handedly, his slight European accent somewhat detectable.
"The local authorities are investing a great deal of resources to hunt you down... and when that registration is signed, your days will certainly be numbered."
Abominus clenched his fists as the man chuckled in mock amusement.
"I bet you'd like nothing more to go out in a blaze of glory, eh? Well, I can't blame you. I'd say it sounds like fun; however... there are other individuals besides the authorities who's notice you've attracted."
The figure stopped once again, and began to light another cigarette. He took a moment, blew out another set of rings, then continued the conversation.
"Question is... what do
you
want out of all this, assuming you've even stopped to think about any of it, eh? Guts and Glory, or a Piece of the Future?"
The man gave the criminal fugitive another knowing smile before casually taking another drag of the cigarette.
Abominus was silent for a moment, letting his hands slowly sink back into their normal, relaxed positions, his pure white eyes glaring into those of the mysterious man before him.
"Are we done here?"

The White-haired warrior stood there as the fray began. It was true, she had better things in mind, and would have set those in motion, that is, if someone hadn't found that moment fitting to blow off Amaterasu, and focus on her...
In her mind, this person was over the top, flowing black cape. blue-grey tint, oh yes, and he was floating... Wraith... That was his name...
His words seemed like a blur, asking her to join them, that she didn't belong. She too floated upwards, so she was level with him. Amaterasu shouted something about her remembering who she is...
"Wraith, I know I don't belong, but you don't either... Who is your puppetmaster? You see, I don't negotiate with peons... Show me who is pulling the stirngs of all these weaklings, and I will speak with them directly. You see, I like to know what I'm getting myself into first..."
She put up her mental barrier, just in case someone, or something, tried anything funny.
She would show then what she was capable of...

Mansion front lawn
"Aight I'll back up.....good looking out on the tip though", Curtis quiped quickly in response to the automated system that must of belonged to the Mansion informing him to back away from the vicinity.
Right infront of him stood a small number of people who in a moment's notice started to battle each using power's Curtis hadn't seen before, and it seemed that each of them knew how to use them very well.
"And I thought the hood was bad", Curtis commented to himself as the battle infront of him waged on both sides determined to blast the other into hell.
Shaking his head Curtis rounded around the ongoing battle noticing that another was on the roof probably waiting for his chance to join the fight and made his way back towards the Mansion feeling the awe of seeing other's with power's drain rather quickly, and being replaced with doubt if this place could really help him in his goals.
"That was one hell of a welcoming act, but flashyness with no substance don't mean nuthin", Curtis thought as he walked into the Mansion hoping to find some answer's.

History/Background:
Wind Weapon, or Matthew Morsa, was abandoned by his parents when he was four at the first signs that he was a mutant. He was evetually found and put in an orphanige, he spent about 4 years there until he ran away a 8 to try and find his family whom he believed still cared about him, when he found them however they treated him as an outcast and threw him out.
Disheartend, he went alone to try and find him self. He spent 2 years alone nearly freexing to death on one occasion. One day he ran into members of the " Dead Mans" gang. They beat him up and muged him on several occaisions until he could take it no longer. He challenged his opressors to a duel which they accepted trying to hold back their laughter.
It was no laughing matter when the duel came though. They all ganged up on him, several of them armed with guns. But he beat them with his mutant powers, stoping their bullets in midair and sending wind blasts their way. When the Dead Mans gang retreated, he heard applause.
It turned out that the Dead Mans gang rivals, The Survivors, were watching the whole time with their leader, Bloody. Bloody offered to let Matthew join the gang if he could prove himself useful. His chance came when police tried to arrest the gang after a failed convience store robbery. Matthew made them guns fly out of the officershands, making the gang able to take them down. So Bloody let him in, and hewas given the name Wind Weapon, which he still uses today.
With him in the gang the group quickly rose to the top. Wind Weapon would knock out secruity cameras, beat back police, and even helped with rival gang battles. For the first time, he felt like he were part of something, like he was useful. For 2 years he fought with the survivors, until one day things went out of hand.
It was another simple convience store robbery, but this time the police had set up an ambush. When they enters the store, they were quickly surronded by police. The gang spread out, leaving Wind by himself. Though he tried to escape, the cops arrested him.
Since they believed him dangerous, he was put into solitary confinment. For a year he was totally alone, with not even the wind to keep him company.About a year later his parents claimed to be taking responsibilty for their son, and when he was let out of jail, they sent him to a house they owned.
His parents sent alot of phsycologists to him, each one he hated. His current Phsycologists told his parents to send him to the Xavier Institute, wich they did.....

RE: The Xavier Institute for Higher Learning: Path of Heroes
IC:Lera
Xavier Mansion, Infirmary
Lera gave a soft smile before nodding. She still sat cross legged on the floor staring up at Eirk Xaiver. After blinking a couple times Lera's eyes fell shut. 'Happy thoughts. Happy feelings. This might be a little harder than orginally planned....'
It was a cold night. Christmas was almost there. An eleven year old Lera was knelt by a dumpters. She had pulled her legs up all the way to her chest. Her shivering was shaking the dumpster she was crouched behind. "Hello? Is someone out here?" A young man's voice called.
Lera tried to answer but it came out as a cough. A dark haired young man hurried aroun the corner and saw the white haired teen. " Oh you poor child! Come on,Lets get you inside." the mans soft voice came.
He knelt and picked up the small teenager. Lera could feel the warmth runinng through her. Jake, the young man, took her to his apartment and shared a little dinner with her. His cat slept with her on the couch that night. Lera's life had been so dark for so long it had been so wonderful to find someone who cared....
Back in the Mansion Lera smiled. She could feel Jakes arms sheltering her from the cold agian. It was such a wonderful feeling...
The moon was full on a cool autum evening. It shined brightly in the dark sky surronded by pale clouds. Twelve year old Lera was star gazing on a bench. It was such a clear night and she had shaken the Bounty Hunters from her trail that day. Her stomach was full thanks to a kind old lady who spared five bucks. She was warm due to a not-to-ragged coat she had found. THings were okay.
It was such a rare time Lera could ever stop and look at the stars...
Karra and Iori floated into her head. They were all in the Star Room for the first time. IT was Lera's first night at Xaiver's. Tag,they had been plaing tag. All of them were relaxed, there were no worries or heartach at the moment. Just and innocent game between a new found family...
Family. Lera's smile widened. Iori, the protector and guider. Always there to lend a hand or a joke. Karra, she understood. Somehow she knew how to make Lera feel warm and safe. A best friend to share things with. Thera, her teacher and guide. HEr friend and a gentle embrace to keep out the wind. Lera wasn't some runaway on the streets any more, she was part of a family and the X-Men. Lera wasn't a nobody who could die and no one would morn, she had people who cared and it made all the difference...
This wasn't a feeling that could be explained. Lera felt as if she could float away but she desperatly wanted to stay. It was the most wonderful feeling,to be part of a family. For the first time in her life Lera felt loved, but more than that she felt like she could love back. No one wanted anything from her, they wanted to help her. These people, her family, wanted to take the time to help her though the bad memories and the bad times to come.
Suddenly, the future looked brighter, kinder. Lera would never be alone again. She belonged her in this place,in her home. There wasn't a doubt in her mind she should stay. And this was the feeling Lera projected to Erik Xaiver.

Mads Haumann
UN Embassy- Brussels, Belgium
It was nearing the end of Mads’ last day at the embassy. It had been full of hugs, alcohol, and baked goods. Mads was having a rather nice day, apart from Nasar. Nasar is Lebanon’s ambassador and enjoys singing along with the Three Tenors. Unfortunately, he never quite knows the words to the songs and appears to be tone deaf. Mads would much rather listen to the Tunisian and Moroccan ambassadors argue over a stapler in Berber than listen to Nasar sing
La Donna e Mobile
. Mads was walking behind the large, barrel-chested man as he continued singing down the hall with a slight bounce in his step. As Nasar took a breath Mads quickly shouted something slightly rude in Italian, before ducking into his office. He couldn’t help laughing at the puzzled look that must be strewn across the man’s face.
Mads began whistling
La Donna e Mobile
as he walked to his desk. His phone was blinking and he was sure it was Emke. Her last ballet class had been a week ago- nearly a month after Mads had been offered the promotion. Mads and Emke had spent the last few weeks purging any household item that weren’t necessary, and packing the rest as they prepared for their big move. Emke had taken the few boxes they had packed to be shipped and was then traveling to Mons, where they would stay with her father until their flight to New York in two days. He was sure she had called to let him know she had arrived in one piece.
“Mmhmm… Of course…yes, u-huh…” Mads smiled as he adjusted papers on his desk and listen to his wife talk, “I will see in few hours…I love you too. Bye.”
“I never thought I’d live to see a relative of mine speak more French than Dutch.” A tall, slender man in a long wool coat entered the office.
“Emke doesn’t look as beautiful when she speaks Dutch.” Mads smiled as the man's shoulders shook with a hearty laugh.
“Dutch is a man’s language. I heard about your promotion, Jensen.” He said setting a brown paper package on the desk then placed his fedora beside it, revealing his thick silver hair. He unbuttoned his coat before sitting down.
“Is that why you’re here, Aajis?” Mads asked as he leaned against the front of his desk, his hands in his pockets, “to congratulate me.”
“Yes.” He lit a hand rolled cigarette, and nodded toward the package. “I come bearing gifts- so open them.”
Mads picked up the brown paper package, and tentatively unwrapped it. He opened the box and found a tiny felt bag, a slip of paper, and a cigar box. Mads picked up the cigar box and opened it. “Cigars.” He laughed at himself for even expecting to find something else within.
“Cubans,” Aajis pointed at the open box, “Those will make you many a friend in America. And there’s more where those came from, feel free to ask for more when you’ve smoked them all.”
Mads smiled before reading the slip of paper, it had numbers written on it. He looked up at his uncle. “I’ve set up a bank account for you. Call the phone number, and Tunis will send a wire transfer from your Swiss account anytime you need it. Don’t argue,” Aajis interrupted Mads before he could protest. He blew a smoke ring towards the ceiling, “Look in the little bag, it is my favorite. Ephraim hand crafted this gift- per my request.”
Mads pulled a small leather box from the little black bag. He opened the ring box and couldn’t believe the ring he found within. A 2 carat rounded emarald cut, medium colored champagne diamond surrounded by tiny half carat diamonds and into an antique white gold band. “It’s beautiful.”
“It’s a masterpiece!” Aajis exclaimed.
“Well, yes, but Emke has a wedding ring."
“Yes, I've seen the microscopic stone set in sterling silver. A descendent of jewelers should know buying a diamond is an investment. Besides, I think Emke will appreciate the beauty of this ring.” Aajis stood up, “I had better be leaving. Diamonds don’t take care of themselves.” He took Mads face in his hands and kissed him on both cheeks. “Take care of yourself, Jensen. I would not know what to do if something happened to you.”
Mads watched as his uncle walked towards the door, Aajis reached for the handle before turning around. “Do you have a house, yet?”
“No, the Embassy is paying for a hotel room until we can find a place to live.”
“You should live in the Lower East Side. You will find friends there.”
“Friends?” Mads asked raising his eyebrows. A sly grin crossed Aajis’ face.
“Let’s just say a man named Avi Cohen will take a special interest introducing you to New York... and watching over your sweet, little wife.” Aajis winked at Mads then put his hat on and left the office.
Mads continued leaning on the desk for a few moments before gathering his things and leaving for the train station.
