Site B Laboratories

Demetri smiled at Snyder but glared at Arnold. He extended his hand to the newcomer, Galen.

"It's nice to meet you, Mr. Snyder. I'm Demetrius Green. You can call me Demetri."

Demetri looked at Snyder's handkerchief and wondered if he was sick. He shook off the thought and looked over at Arnold.

"What do you want me to show him?"

Then he glanced at Snyder.

"What is it you need to see?"

IC: John Arnold, Site B Laboratories, Isla Sorna

John rolled his eyes and reached for his cigarettes. "He's the one that's been telling us where to dig for amber, Green," he said, gripping a single cigarette between his lips and pulling it from the box. "I want you to take him inside the laboratories and give him a tour. Hammond wants him to see what we do with the amber. You know. Why we're digging it up. Don't make me spoil Hammond's little surprise. I imagine he'd be pissed." He fumbled in his pockets for a lighter. "Show the man what we do here."

Arnold found his lighter. He winked and flicked a little flame alive.

IC: Dr. Akio Fujikawa
Bahía de la Tortuga Bar- Puerto Quepos, Costa Rica

Akio squinted down at the writing in his bilingual dictionary, clearly seeing what he had written but the actual printed words were all rather a blur. Not surprising considering his glasses were still in a case in his bag and his prescription sunglasses were in his shirt pocket. Replacing the book into his bag, he felt around until he found the thin fabric case and snatched it out before quickly removing the dark-rimmed eye glasses and putting his sunglasses inside. By the time he had placed the spectacles onto his face, the waiter had returned with his drink and Cooper had finished telling the Marine Biologist a little more about themselves and their operation.

He nodded slowly as he leaned forward and took a sip of his fruity drink, eyes widening slightly at the delightful taste. Akio was aware of InGen and its rivalry with BioSyn, though he didn’t know much of the corporation itself. As well, as he had suspected, at least from looking at this Hayde fellow… these men were a shadier sort. Mercenaries. Wonderful. What exactly was he getting himself into?

“These must be some animals indeed to require all the trouble of hiring a mercenary force to acquire them,” he finally spoke up before taking another drink. “Still doesn’t explain why I’m here unless they’ve got some kind of rare sea animal they need me to help handle or examine. Either way, as long as this trip is ‘profitable’ for my needs, I’ll do whatever they need me to do.”

Alright, that made him sound a little tougher than he actually was, but better that than appear weak around mercenary-types. In all honesty, he had trepidations about being actively involved in Corporate espionage. He was an honest sort and didn’t like all these underhanded maneuvers these large companies often undertook to achieve there goals. What ever happened to hard work and ingenuity? To honest in the workplace? Oh well… in the end he would do what he would have to in order to find out what it was that caused the death of his father and brother.

Just then, a thought came to mind as he remembered the reports of the supposed creature that had attacked the ship… a creature that matched the description of a life form that hadn’t been seen on Earth for millions of years. Could InGen be breeding…? Akio shook the thoughts from his head. That was impossible. You can’t bring back the dead…or the extinct.

“Other than what I’ve mentioned before, Mr. Cooper, I’m afraid I don’t really have anything to add. It seems that you actually know more about what’s going on than I do, I’m afraid, so I guess all we can do is sit back and wait for Mr. Dodgson to arrive.”

IC: James Halak
Isla Sorna; Jungle

James had obviously saw the bird-like creature before Ed had noticed it face first.

"James."

"I see it."

"James, look."

"I see it!"

When the majestic creature took notice of bowing Ed, James was ready for it to snap his head off with a clamp of its beak, but even as Ed slowly, and foolishly, raised his gun to shoot the creature, it abruptly rose and scurried off into the hazy mist of the cloud that had risen above the water and fogged human eyes, but the creature was still within sight when it turned around after almost ten feet of distance was added by its little run.

"Let's go." James whispered as Ed blatently denied as he slowly started to follow.

"Ed." James whispered louder in tempo as the man continued to move farther downstream after the precocious little creature.

"Ed, you get your ass over here...Ed! Dammit." He proclaimed as he began to draw his weapon and slowly follow the man after the creature.

He didn't recognize it and frankly didn't want to, but he couldn't leave Ed here alone for the main fact that his death might be James fault. James stepped into the water and shivered as it sent a cold rush up his ankle and through his spine. He withstood the initial surprise it gave him and stepped quicker after the thing. The way he was walking was reminding him of an old broadway play he had seen. He eyed the creature as its gaze was starting to become heavier on James' body. After a few seconds of its increasing gaze, James grew into instant anger.

"What the hell are you looking at you...thing?" He said as he shot at it.

The power of the blast made him loose his balance and fall down into the water and only add to his anger as he rose and ran after it, blasting his gun down the river.

IC: Ed James, Isla Sorna Jungle Stream

The blast rang throughout the jungle.

"Jesus, Halak!" Ed yelled as birds took off screaming from the underbrush, "Is that a **** Magnum?! What are you thinking? There'll be nothing left to eat!"

Ed hurried after the little beast, which was running full tilt, a yellow flash against the vegetation. James rushed past him, dripping from his fall. Ed tried to keep up, all the while hoping not to slip.

OOC: Posting again, in the interest of moving the story forward. Some time jumps may occur. Please check for updates and respond, folks! As my schedule cools down, I plan on updating with more regularity.

IC: Robert Muldoon, Office, Jurassic Park, Isla Nublar

The brandy was good. Hammond truly spared no expense.

Already in his office were Uberstein and Harding, and now entering was Hott. Muldoon took a sip of his brandy and savored the feeling of it burning its way down his throat. There were two seats in his office besides the one behind his desk, and they were already occupied. Oh well. Muldoon didn't plan on standing up, not with the buzz he had. No matter: he hoped they wouldn't be here in this office very long.

He composed himself, swung his feet off of his desk, and cleared his throat. "Well now that we're all here," he began, "I'll get right to business. We have a bit of a problem with the Microceratops. In short, they keep disappearing." He offered Hott some brandy before going on.

IC: John Hammond, Large Herbivore Paddock, Jurassic Park

Kuranov wanted to talk finances. John Hammond wanted him to be quiet. The Russian fellow just wasn't seeing the whole picture, the big picture, the important picture. Money wasn't a problem, here. Hopefully, he would see that, soon.

The jeep rolled through lush jungle and mountain roads, bouncing along the way. Kuranov seemed used to more posh transportation than this. Hammond found this amusing. Although he himself was rich, he'd spent plenty of time throughout his life toughing it in nature preserves, dig sites, and more. Finally, they reached a clearing and drove off road for a bit, stopping at the crest of a hill. Kuranov wasn't looking. In fact, he seemed irritated. That was just fine. Hammond kept staring forward, hoping Kuranov would take the hint and follow his gaze towards the Jurassic scene before them.

TAG: Raditz

IC: Ed James, Isla Sorna Jungle

Ed stopped short. Before him was a fence, quite unlike the other fences on the island. Most of the others were thick electric fencing. This one was, at least for the span Ed could see, made of thick metal bars in a grid pattern. This made sense: placing electrical fencing so close to the top of a stream - about four feet from its surface - could be disastrous. The real question was why InGen had found it necessary to keep the stream intact and safe instead of just blocking it up with cement to continue the electric fence. The even bigger question was why they needed so much fencing at all, or any fencing. A bigger question than that was how Ed had gotten roped into this stupid job...

He was getting off topic. The little animal he was chasing had continued up the river and slipped easily under the fence clearing. Once on the other side, it climbed to the top of a small tree and sat perched on a branch. Ed turned at the sound of Halak splashing up behind him, wet from his fall. The two stood catching their breath, watching the little yellow beast on the other side of the fence as fish swam around their feet.

"What do you reckon this thing is?" Ed said, indicating the fence. Halak had left the maps back at the camp.

IC: Lewis Dodgson

Dodgson maneuvered through the bar, making a bee-line for Tim Cooper and the men sitting around him. There were two: Hayde and Fujikawa. Garcia would be joining them soon enough. After that, they would only have to wait on two more. Dodgson ordered a beer in passing, and the sound of his voice caught Cooper's attention. The man turned and grinned.

"Hey! Lou!" he shouted. Dodgson smirked and shook his hand.

"Fujikawa. Hayde." Dodgson nodded at the two other men at the table. "No doubt you're wondering what this whole hullabaloo is about. Well. I'm here to let you know." He swung his briefcase up onto the table and clicked it open.

"Hey! Lou!"

Looking up rather surprised from his Pina Colada, Akio was surprised to see Lewis Dodgson himself approaching across the outside patio and waving to Cooper in response.

"Fujikawa. Hayde." Dodgson remarked, nodding to the two other men as he walked up to the table and had a seat at the remaining chair.

“Good day, Mr. Dodgson,” Akio replied, trying to keep his English clean of an accent. It was still a bit of a challenge, but he was getting better. “I hope you had a good trip here.”

"It was a long flight on a cheap airline, with a crying baby sitting behind me," he leaned forward in his seat and added, conspiratorially, "Plus, since that rabies incident years ago, I'm not exactly a friend of the Latin American authorities..."

Fujikawa nodded slowly and smiled, recalling the fiasco from several years before when BioSyn had tried to develop an Airborne Rabies Vaccine. It had been tested in South America, but did not work as intended. Instead of preventing it, several people had caught Airborne Rabies. Lewis Dodgson had been the head of that project, too. Hopefully they weren’t heading into another like situation…

"No doubt you're wondering what this whole hullabaloo is about. Well. I'm here to let you know." The newcomer said, putting his briefcase onto the table and clicking it open.

“Well, we were just talking about that subject before you arrived, sir, so we are rather curious for what information you might be able to give us.”

Robert Muldoon's office, Jurassic Park, Isla Nublar.

‘This is the reason why I’d rather spend my time with aggressive reptiles rather than my male coworkers, no matter how good looking, hard working, or bloody rich they get’ thought the young woman as it became apparent she was going to be forced to stand.

With an impatient sigh, Amber shook her head and muttered a thank you as Muldoon offered her some brandy, she then crossed her arms across her ample chest and fixed her strange eyes upon the man, finally reaching up to remove her stylish glasses.

We have a bit of a problem with the Microceratops. In short, they keep disappearing.

Gentle, mismatched eyes sharpened suddenly as a single, slender eyebrow rose high. Now she was, to say the very least, displeased.

“What do you mean ‘disappearing’?” she asked calmly, fixing Muldoon’s eyes with her own “I beg to differ, but living creatures do not simply ‘disappear’, sir”

She brushed some stray strands of hair from her face and kept the stern eye contact with the man, outwardly seeming slightly irritated, inwardly muttering blood and murder.

Muldoon held her gaze for a moment before letting a humorless smirk crack the looming silence. “Cheeky.” He drew inhaled sharply through his nose, and the grin faded. “Perhaps you have an alternate explanation ready for us, Dr. Hott? Because your superior, here, Dr. Harding, certainly doesn’t seem to. And our friend in security, Mr. Uberstein, has borne witness to the disappearing microceratops as well, haven’t you, Mr. Uberstein?”

Uberstein seemed put upon, clearly not liking the idea of these two as they butted heads. Nonetheless, he responded. “Um…well, yes. The counters are routinely below the target number for the microceratops, but since they always show up again, I had assumed for some time that it was a malfunction of the counting mechanism in their enclosure. But now Robert’s brought this to my attention, so…”

“Yes,” said Muldoon, nodding with an I-told-you-so expression. He disliked it when young upstarts like Hott tried to tangle with the big boys. Hott was good, but she didn’t know as much as she thought she did, and she was going to have to learn to stop being cheeky and start being a team player. In Muldoon’s opinion, at least. Her grandfather Hammond seemed to think the world of her. “No one’s suggesting that the animals are going poof, Dr. Hott. We’re here to find out what’s happening. Here, see for yourself.” He indicated the monitors on his wall. There were two cameras in the relatively small microceratops enclosure. It was a pretty enough little enclosure, landscaped to highlight the cute little dinosaurs as pristine and peaceful: they shared a compound with the similarly diminutive mussauruses. There was a little pond, some rocks for them to climb on, and a large tree in the center whose branches reached up high into the air and joined with the trees on the outside, forming a shady, pleasant canopy for onlookers. And, as had been stated, there simply weren’t enough Microceratops.

“Well, good,” said Dodgson, “We’re to met here in some time by a few others: a big game hunter, and some of his assistants. An expert will be joining you later, and he knows less than you will about what’s going on. We’ll try to keep it that way for a while. You will be taking a boat to a small island off the coast here called Isla Sorna, in an island chain known as Los Cinco Muertos. Sorna’s owned by InGen, and they have a facility there where they’re cloning animals. You’re to head in and take control of the island. I’ve already got two operatives there to shut down security so you can be inserted.” The waiter came by with his beer, which he opened on the side of the table. He took a swig, wiped his mouth. “Once you assume control of the island, you will do reconnaissance and intelligence gathering on InGen’s facilities. You will also capture a number of their animals. I have lists of the animals you are to capture, which you are not to open and look at until you successfully arrive at the island. Once the animals are captured, we’ll send in vehicles to contain and transport them. If I lose contact with you for 36 hours, we call the operation off, and disavow any knowledge you exist. Any questions?”

He took another swig of his beer.

Jimmy bent over trying to catch his breath after he and Ed had chased the damn animal all the way to a fence that was right in the way of the stream.

Ed recovered his voice quicker than Jimmy and looked up to speak.

"What do you reckon this thing is?"

"First of all, I don't "reckon" anything." He said in his usual sarcastic tone, but the tone was deeper due to his lack of air. "Second," He continued as he grabbed the fence and started to climb, not noticing the underpass. "I dont know what it is, but I'm going to catch it and find out, old man."

Swinging one wet leg over the fence he looked down at the creature and smiled.

"I gotcha!" Jimmy said as he leaped from over the fence and down on the tree.

Unfortunatly, he realized all to quickly that wet clothes aren't the best for leaping as he fell short of the tree and fell towards the ground.

Ed rolled his eyes as Halak started to heave himself up the fence. The man swore he was Rambo, or something. Ed looked down, then, at the river, and the clearance between the surface of the water and the fance. All he really had to do was bend over to get under the damn thing. Fish were going in and out as they pleased.

Something about the fish made Ed pause. A lot of these fish seemed too big to simply be living in such a stream, even if it was up to his knees. That wasn't a huge deal, of course, as the island had bigger bodies of water. What really got Ed was that this was a tropical island and yet these fish looked very familiar. He looked up and called to Halak. "Hey Jimmy!" he said, "These fish...you see 'em in America, or England evan. Used to catch 'em when I went fishing with my grandpa in Devon. Carp, salmon...these don't belong here! They don't cross oceans. You think InGen brought them?" But Halak was ignorning him, grunting and straining up the fence. Ed sighed, stooped, and simply walked under.

"I gotcha!" cried Halak above, and Ed looked up too late. The man had launched himself from the top of the twenty foot fence towards the tree, towards the flash of yellow and blue. His jump didn't have anough behind it, and the last thing Ed saw before his head smacked into the mud of the stream's bank was the little creature jumping to another tree and James falling right towards him.

The two stood, and Ed couldn't take it anymore. Dizzy from the impact, he swung wild and felt his fist connect with Halak's jaw. Halak, also dizzy, hurt, and with uneven footing in the stream, yelped and fell splashing into the water again. Ed turned and stumbled off, past the trees, towards where the treeline ended before them, opening up into a wetland with a broad, muddy delta where the stream expanded and became much broader, joined by another body of water coming from elsewhere. Ed didn't even care about the stupid yellow parrot thing anymore.

As he slammed on top of Ed and the two fell to the ground, Jimmy could only brace his body stiff. He stood up slowly and looked at where the creature had been when he jumped, only to discover that it was no longer there.

"Hey Ed I-" He was cut short by a fist connecting to his jaw at a powerful speed which knocked him to the ground.

Slamming into the mud, once again, Jimmy looked up at the tree which the little creature had switched to. He could understand Ed's anger, but hitting him was uncalled for.

And it hurt.

Jimmy, suddenly angrier than before, sat up and watched as Ed continued to walk away towards an open area of land, probably thinking it was over. Jimmy slowly rolled to his feet and picked up his gun out of the mud, which he had dropped when he'd hit Ed. Aiming for Ed's head but convincing himself not to kill the man, Jimmy unleashed 2 shots into the jungle around the man's head, then took off after the man, catching up quickly and launching himself into Ed's back, hurting both of them once more.

I really have to stop jumping at things, he thought as he tried to get up.

That bastard! Ed thought, He shot at me!

Before his sluggish body could fully turn around, he was being tackled, and the two of them were once again in a muddy heap. Ed pulled himself free, stood, teetered, and kicked Halak in the side before he could rise. The man fell again, and Ed once more tried to stumble away, but Jimmy caught Ed's ankle in his hand, bringing Ed face down in a bush. Ed howled and lashed out with his boot, missing Jimmy's face but managing to free his leg. Disentangling himself from the bush, Ed tried to stand yet again. He shambled from the underbrush into the full, bright sunlight, the mud sucking his feet down. He could feel his bruises swelling.

Soon, he thought, soon I'll be free of this jungle and this Halak son of a bitch.

Jimmy was behind him.

Inwardly sighing, Akio took his Pina Colada in hand and finished the last of the drink before dropping the discarded rind of the Pineapple slice that had come with it inside the glass. Cloned Animals…Mercenaries… Big Game Hunters… Raiding an island…Corporate Espionage… this was all becoming a little much to grasp. And then, if they failed on this little mission of theirs, they’d be left for dead to whatever forces were on that island. He glanced towards the ground, feeling his stomach begin to knot, but he quickly raised his head for fearing of his apprehension being noticed. It was then his eyes fell on Hayde. This sounded like top secret business, the kind of stuff that, if discovered, could lead to some serious repercussions for BioSyn. With this group, though… if they discovered his apprehension on the operation and that he was really wishing he could just return to his lab… would he even be allowed to leave alive? If they were willing to go ahead and do what they were saying, would it be such a big step to take out any kinks in the operation and disavow any knowledge? If that was possible… what choice did he have, really? He was stuck.

He looked up towards Mr. Dodgson and forced a smile onto his face to hide his true feelings, but his nervousness caused his accent to soak into his English once more. “So, when do we leave?”

Snyder stood by as Arnold and Green exchanged words. Whatever it was that Hammond was planning to show him, it must have been some secret. Galen never was one for secrets, and that's probably why Hammond liked to toy with him as such. As a geologist, secrets were what he usually uncovered alongside archeologists and other qualified scientists. If it was a secret, he usually knew about it, but Hammond had to make things difficult all the time. Snyder sighed and heaved his bag again, if only to show that he was getting impatient, though it may have seemed as if he were just getting tired of carrying it.

"Can we move on please? This little secret isn't going to reveal itself," Snyder said while adjusting his sunglasses, hoping that Green would escort him towards this proposed "secret".
