IC as Theniniel

Theniniel inhaled shakily and gritted her teeth when she removed her sword from the ground, taking a step forward. They were lucky the Uruk-Hai and other warriors were too busy fighting their own battle to take notice of the wounded Elf and Samuel. But no matter what, she would get to Usilidur. She would get to him even if it cost her life!

“He would be behind that rubble, just there.”

There. She saw where Samuel was speaking about. There would lay Usilidur's body, she thought and tears overcame her sight, blurring everything from the ground to her bloody and cut up hands leaning on the hilt of her sword for support. Who knew it would end this way? In the heat of battle, two lovers killed without much mercy. If only...if only it could have been somewhere else. Somewhere...where battle was not present. It was just like that one very rememberable day.

Theniniel blinked and gasped at the sudden pain as an Orcish sword made its way through her stomach. It gave her a feral smirk and yanked its black blade from out of her, knocking her to the ground with a quick kick. She collapsed to the ground on her back and cried out in pain while the other Elves continued to fight on against the large troop of Orcs. This is it, she thought through the severe pain, feeling the large wound beginning to create a pool of crimson blood underneath her.

How...how could it end so soon? She was young compared to many other Elves. So, why then was she here, laying on the ground, bleeding to death...? Wasn't she allowed to live longer and go on many adventures?

It surprised her how quickly her thoughts slowed, her breath rough and uneven as she stared up at the clear sky. Why? she mused sadly, gritting her teeth in pain.

And then as if the warriors parted like some curtains, a man appeared from the massive swarms of fighting bodies and rushed to her side. Alagosir. His words seemed to blur along with her eyesight and the next thing she knew, she was carefully wrapped up in his arms and charging back through the wave of Orcs and Elves.

Theniniel blinked out of her memories and stared ahead at her destination. Where...where was Alagosir to save her now? Why...why wasn't he here with her to help her? She went around the pile of rubble and found Usilidur on the ground, still. Tears flooded her eyes. No! Usilidur!

She dropped her sword and ran to the fallen form, ignoring the searing pain that radiated in every corner of her body. When she was only a mere few feet away from him, Theniniel collapsed to the ground and let out a slow breath as the world faded from view.

Of Samuel Half-shadow

Samuel watched as Theniniel pushed valiantly on towards Usilidur. Despite her wound, she manage to make just feet from him. But, it was inevitable that she did not make it. Despite Samuel’s urges for the opposite, he knew that he couldn’t have such a victory. Samuel walked silently to her fallen body.

Assuming the elven maiden to have perished, Samuel scooped her broken body from the ground, without checking for a pulse. Stooping to pick up her sword, he paused, before taking her the last two meters. His eyes were dry now, for he had accepted this end.

Samuel lay the sagging body of Theniniel in the brush, next to Usilidur. He lay her blade back into her open fingers. Taking a step back, he stared with emotionless eyes, seeing not Theniniel, but another elf. And, so he turned. Frightful of that memory, Samuel left the pair, whom he assumed had left mortality, to walk his path of destruction.
---

Of Usilidur Wenoway

Usilidur blinked awake. He didn’t dare move his head, for fear of losing consciousness again. So, he just lay, letting his memory come back to him. While it did, he began to feel a faint, bitter heat by his arm. He realized that it must be Theniniel. But, why was she laying on the ground. Had she perished? Had Samuel completed his ascent into darkness?

Usilidur jerked upright, ignoring the pain. White spots blocked his vision, but he saw a receding form. He made an attempt to yell, but his voice came out scratchy. It was not near loud enough to be heard over the sound of battle.

Usilidur was barely able to look to his side. Afraid of the sight that would befall his eyes, he turned slowly. It was Theniniel, her face looked serene, but pale. She couldn’t have died. He hurriedly checked her body for a wound. His fingers touched a warm sticky liquid on her left side. He gaped. It was impossible to think that Theniniel could be dead. So, he didn’t accept it. He pushed to his feet, further ignoring the pain in the back of his head.

Usilidur picked up her seemingly fragile frame. Leaving his weapon and hers, side by side, he took off as fast as he could to find a healer. All the while, his hoarse voice whispered, over and over.

“I love you, Then. Stay with me.”

IC: Eomer

Eomer braced for the impact of the onrushing Uruk-Hai. But it didn't come. Arrows buzzed past Eomer's head, striking the first wave. He stumbled up the hill as fast as possible to the group of men and elves. One of Eomer's lietuenants began shouting into his ears as arrows continued to fly into the breach, temporarily stalling the Uruks' advance.

Still shaken up from the blast, Eomer couldn't make out what his lieutenant was saying. In response, he was only able to mutter two words, "Fall back." The group entered into the keep through a stone door, as a horn sounded signaling all to retreat behind the gates. Eomer was able to return to his command post. He splashed some water on his face and looked at the breached wall, but also notcied that they still held the gate. The Uruk-Hai had not taken the fortress yet, but it was only a matter of time before the gate came crashing down.

His vision cleared, as did his thinking. The ringing in his ears still had not left, but he was able to command again. Eomer knew he had to get those on the mountain side safely back into the fortress. The only way to do so was to hold the gate, give them enough time to enter the fortress, and then retreat into the keep.

OOC: I'll tyr to get more interactive with the other players in my next post. I was running a week behind as it was...

IC BARAHIR:

Barahir still didn't know why he was here. With the population of Rohan. With an army of elves. With an army of Uruk-Hai pinning them to a mountain face.

Reports had reached Barahir of a new breed of orcs issuing from Isengard, and stopped by the old fortress of Helm's Deep to renew his supplies. But when Barahir arrived, he was greeted by the entire population of Rohan. The begged him to stay, and as night was fast approaching, Barahir remained with them. Later into the night, Barahir learned why he had been implored to stay.

An cloud of arrows rained on Barahir and the men around him, bringing Barahir back to the action at hand. It had been along battle, but if things stayed as they were, the men and elves had a good chance of lasting until daybreak.

If things stayed as they were.

Barahir was atop the wall looking out over the causeway. Few siege ladders had come in that general direction, but the ones that had had let in many Uruk-Hai. Thankfully, for the moment, no siege ladders were up on Barahir's side of Helm's Deep. The Elves on the Deepening Wall, however, were bearing the brunt of the assault. Barahir didn't wish he was down there - he looked forward to spilling blood of any servant of evil, but he wasn't stupid.

Another cloud of arrows approached, sending Barahir down as the black shafts hissed through the air above his head. The rain was coming down harder than it had all night now, which limited visibility considerably. Still, Barahir could make out movement on the causeway. A troop of uruks were slowly making their way up the causeway. The archers above the gate diverted their fire accordingly, along with all others who were not providing sniping fire for those on the Deepening Wall.

Barahir readied his crossbow, placed a bolt in position, and brought the butt to his shoulder. As he aimed, Barahir noticed that the uruks had shields not only in front of them, but on top of them and on their flanks. Wonderful.

Barahir decided not to waste his ammunition shooting their shields. They most likely planned to attack the gate, and by doing so would make themselves vulnerable. He turned and hurried to the gates. As he began down the steps, a blinding flash of light lit the night sky, and a blast of noise louder than the largest war horn knocked him off his feet, sending him tumbling down the stone stairs. As he landed on his back at the bottom of the stairs, he looked over towards the Deepening Wall to see massive chunks of the wall soaring through the air, crashing down on Uruks and Elves alike. Barahir rose to his feet, a little shaken, and continued to the gate. He didn't know what had just happened, but he didn't have time to find out. They couldn't allow two breaches in this fortress....

IC as Theniniel

The woman leapt back to avoid getting a slash directly in the midsection and flashed her long sword right back at her enemy, silver blades meeting and locking in air. She pushed hard against her opponent's weapon and quickly twisted her wrist about to switch positions, forcing the Orc in front of her to lose his grip on the hilt. But he did not drop it. As he fumbled to get a better hold on it, the young Elf charged forward and slid her blade right under the protection of the Orc's sword and into its gut. Yanking it out, the Orc collapsed to the ground.

"You did very well for a scout," came a male voice not far from her left.

She blinked in surprise and looked to see who spoke to her. Another Elf like her, but he held the look of someone older than herself. His long brown hair had been braided back and resting over his shoulder, his calm green eyes watched her. And even though a smile was upon his face, his eyes showed much sorrow in them. It was obvious he had seen many things, including death of friends or loved ones. She smiled a small bit in return and proceeded to wipe the blade clean of Orc blood. "I thank you, though I am no mere scout. I am a warrior for Rivendell."

"Ah, is that so? I am as well. Well, I am glad that you are a warrior, it seems you have quite the skills when it comes to a blade...though you do seem new to being a warrior."

"Yes, I am. My name is Theniniel," the Elvish woman bowed curtly to the man before her. "I transfered from being a scout to a warrior not long ago. This was my first time fighting off Goblin and Orc scouting parties."

"So that is why I did not recognize you," he chuckled softly. "And your name is Theniniel? That does sound familar, for some odd reason..."

"Perhaps you know my father? He used to be a warrior for Rivendell, however, he passed the task onto me. His name is Thandor?"

The man blinked and quirked an eyebrow up at Theniniel, looking her face over. "Thandor? Thandor Silverbrook? You are his daughter!" a smile and a nod from the young woman, made him blink a few times before chuckling. "Yes, I remember when you were a mere infant and child...I cannot believe you are older now! How time continues to sail by..." he chuckled once more and bowed. "Then, it is an honor to meet you once more, Theniniel."

"And it is an honor to meet...I fear I do not know who you are."

"I am Alagosir, son of Arnin Celedil. Warrior of Rivendell."

"Well then, it is an honor to meet another warrior, Alagosir."

The man, Alagosir, smiled at Theniniel. He could easily see her eagerness in her soft blue eyes and knew that she would be a benefit to Rivendell. "Theniniel, if you will come with me, I can show you a few moves that may help you finish your opponent a bit quicker. I know it has been sometime since your father was apart of the guard and warrior force, and I happen to know a few stances that he did not."

"Really! You would teach me them!" Theniniel grinned and drew her sword from its sheath.

"Of course. I would be more than happy to." He said with a curt smile and headed off with the young Theniniel, while the rest of the warriors moved to clean up the mess their enemies had made.

This is it, Theniniel mused to herself as she moved with grace with the rest of the lines of Elves. Lothlorien had been under attack by a large Goblin and Orc group and had called on Rivendell's warriors to aid them in the battle. This is it, my first battle!

She charged forward and locked blades with an Goblin short sword. It had been sometime since Rivendell had seen any scouting parties, and that had to have been why. They were gathering their numbers and preparing to march on Lorien, hoping to seriously lower the Elves' numbers. But how they were wrong. In a quick move, Theniniel was able to both disarm the Goblin and sent the foe to the ground, unable to stand again. Right as she moved to parry an Orc sword, she felt the reassuring back of Alagosir against her own and the two fought back to back.

The battle was on a much larger scale than she had ever seen, but the Elves were quickly cutting down their enemies. It would be no time at all before they would claim their victory and return to their home, Rivendell. She smiled confidently and turned to shout her feelings on the battle to Alagosir when she did not see him behind her, or anywhere. They had managed to separate during the battle and now he was no where in sight. But she shrugged it off, immediately returning her focus onto the fighting at hand. She would find him later, she thought and swung her sword at an Orc.

And then, the battle turned quickly for her. The Orcish blade she was fighting against managed to get right through her defenses and seep into her stomach. The pain was sudden, sharp, and excruciating. She blinked in surprise and stared down at the weapon jutting right into her, blood dripping down from the new wound. It removed its blade from her and knocked her to the ground, running off to pick a fight with another Elf. She cried out in pain and gritted her teeth together firmly to try to ignore the pain. She attempted sitting up only once and found that it was impossible to do without causing anymore pain.

And right as everything began to blur, Alagosir came to her side and carried her out of the battle.

Theniniel slowly came to and blinked at her surroundings. She was laying in a bed, soft white sheets covering her. The decorations in the room told her that she was in the heart of Lorien, but why? The last thing she could recall was being on the outskirts of Lorien, fighting the battle...and then she remembered it. She had been stabbed, fatally wounded. So why then was she here? And why was she breathing still?

She pushed the sheets down and looked down at her stomach. She was no longer wearing the bloody outfit from before, but a white loose gown. She could feel her waist had been wrapped up and the warm and wet feeling where the wound was located told her that someone had applied medicine on it to stop the bleeding and to have it heal up quicker.

Seeing movement out of the corner of her eye, Theniniel looked at the open doorway and spotted Alagosir standing there. A small, very small smile on his face. "I am glad you are awake," he said calmly and entered into the room. He moved to the side of the bed where a chair was and seated himself quietly, looking her over. "It seems the medicine the healers had put on is working well. The color is returning to your face."

Slowly, Theniniel pushed herself into a sitting position and stared at him. He was wearing the same Elvish pants as during the fight, but had no tunic on. His chest was wrapped up with plenty of bandages to make up for the lack of a shirt. She frowned. "You did not have any wounds before you found me, Alagosir."

Alagosir smiled another small smile again. "It was not very easy trying to save you, Theniniel."

"Then you should not have." She frowned and sighed.

"Of course, I should. You are my dear friend. I do not think I would be able to endure your death."

"Even though I put you in danger?"

Alagosir shook his head at Theniniel. "I would gladly be in danger's way if I can save you." He stood quickly to let her know that he had enough of that conversation. "When you feel you are able to, we should return to Rivendell and rejoin the others. I am sure your father is worried about you." He said quietly and left the room.

Theniniel ran onto the bridge over the beautiful clear river beneath it and stopped halfway to meet Alagosir. Eagerness shined brightly in her eyes as she stared at him. "Well! What did they say?"

Alagosir frowned and leaned against the wood railing, staring off at the water rushing passed the bridge. He gave a heavy sigh before answering the impatient Elf at his side. "They will not allow you to fight. They are putting you on a temporary suspension until they are certain you have healed up properly."

She stared at her friend and shook her head. "That could take a long time though!"

"Yes, it very well may, Theniniel. But you must heed their order. If you do not, they will surely not allow you to be a warrior. Ever again. As much as I do not wish to tell you this news, I fear you must abide by it."

Theniniel sighed and leaned against the railing with him. After returning home from Lorien, her father had deemed her large wound to serious to let her continue fighting for the protection of Rivendell and made a plea to the Lord of Rivendell, himself. She realized he did it for her safety, but she still could not help but be angry at her father. She didn't enjoy just sitting around and not doing anything. She had to move. She had to duel. Giving another sad sigh, she looked to Alagosir with a small smile. "Well at least you will be here when you are not on duty."

He sighed as well and gave her a look that said something bad. "Yes, however, I will not be here for sometime...we are to leave Rivendell soon and patrol the outskirts."

Her face fell at his words and she lowered her head. "And I have to stay here...?"

"Yes, you do. I am sorry, Theniniel...now, if you will excuse me...I must go prepare my gear." Alagosir gave her a sad expression before slowly turning away and heading back down the way he had came from.

Theniniel stood silent and stared off after the retreating Alagosir. How could she handle just staying in Rivendell? She sighed and lowered her head. It would be a long time, no doubt, before they would allow her to travel and fight again. But the next time, she would show them all and Alagosir. She could travel and fight for those who needed protection and be okay. She would show them one day.

Of Usilidur Wenoway

Usilidur’s heart pounded and his head throbbed. The run towards Helm’s Deep was taxing, both physically and mentally. His body groaned in protest to running. The emotional pain was far worse, because with every step that didn’t vault them to safety, Usilidur had to wonder if he would ever speak to Theniniel again. It was too daunting a prospect to comprehend, so Usilidur veiled his mind, focusing on moving his feet in a line. His intonation of his vows remained to steady him.

“I love you, Then. I love you.”

Tareya Horosil& Varesi Horosil IC:
Location ~Ceraias

Tareya sniffed haughtily at the comment that it could be a lie or decoy...decoy for what anyway? She shook her head mentally and turned away from them all.

"I will be right back to fetch my brother, wait here. And after we show you the Door of Night, you got to tell me all about this quest of yours."

Then she spun on her heel and marched down the town to the Horosil House, where Varesi and Evalynn currently were. In truth, she was quite excited to hear about some quest and since there were elves in the group, it must be important! If she could only get in on it...eh, it would be easy. Varesi wouldn't be happy however, but he'd come whether he liked it or not. Such happy thoughts.

WIthin a few moments, she opened the door when Varesi was opening his mouth to say how he was afraid his sister would handle any problems. He and Evalynn looked over, surprised.

"Tareya?"

"Varesi, come," she pointed at Evalynn, "you too. We are to show the group the Door of Night. They wish to see it."

"The Door of Night? Really?" asked Varesi uncertain, eyebrow raised.

Tareya simply folded her arms. "They're quite excited it seems actually. So come on."

And then she was out the door once more and heading back.

Varesi sighed and looked at Evalynn, "Well, I guess that settles that. Lets go, Lady Evalynn." He stood and walked with her after his sister.

IC as Alagosir

Alagosir stared off at the retreating back of the woman Tareya and quirked a brow up. Was she really correct in saying that the Door of Night was truly and honestly here? He thought it was in Dol Guldur, but...perhaps they were wrong. Maybe it was really there in that small town of Ceraias. If only they could be that lucky, he mused. That could mean many good things for Middle Earth and finally be able to stop the horrible deeds occurring. And, he would be able to Theniniel again sooner than expected. That would be nice. I suppose it is all up to Usilidur to ensure her safety, but I still cannot help but worry for her sake. The Elf pushed that thought aside and focused on the current event again.

He briefly wondered about Darcyn. He had told him too much earlier and now he was curious about the quest they were on. It was going to be that much harder to say goodbye to him this time. It is a good thing that his ankle is twisted, or I fear that he would follow us again...a sigh. He just may attempt it even though he should not be walking. And apparently, this Tareya woman, wished to learn the nature of their quest too. If they weren't careful with those two, they just might interact and egg on the other to bug them about their mission, but that would be later.

Finally, Alagosir could see the form of Tareya returning with two others following her and smiled. Good, Evalynn was alright. Varesi did seem like a good man, but still, you could never be too sure, especially in these times. He gave her a smile in greeting when they approached closer.

Varesi was about to respond to Evalynn's comment when the door opened revealing Tareya. Varesi looked at her, suprised. Evalynn too was suprised, but even more so when the siblings began talking about leading herself and her companions to the door of night. How would they know about it? Was the door of night was here? In Rohan? And if so how did they come across its location? So many questions. Tareya then quickly disappeared out of the door again. Varesi sighed and looked at her

"Well, I guess that settles that. Lets go, Lady Evalynn"

Evalynn nodded slightly in agreement, standing and walking out of the house with him before following Tareya down the street towards the others. As they got closer, Evalynn noticed Alagosir smile at her as they stopped beside them. Looking up at the elf, her expression was one of mild uncertainty before looking back at Tareya and Varesi

"I'm not sure I fully understand. Are you are saying the door of night is here? In Rohan?"

"I'm not sure I fully understand. Are you are saying the door of night is here? In Rohan?"

Alagosir furrowed his brows in thought at Evalynn's voiced question. "I am not certain, though that is what Lady Tareya has said. I am surprised...and yet at the same time, I am not. It is quite logical that it is in such a small town - it would not make any sense if it were in Gondor, otherwise, it would have been discovered by now."

The Elf looked down at the beautiful woman and gave a smile. "The only way we will find out if it is the truth or not is to see it for ourselves."

Eomer stood atop the wall over the gate and looked out over to the hills. Only a few remained; Usilidur was among them.

"Look to the hills!" Eomer called out, "Give them cover so they may make it back alive!"

Arrows continued to soar to the hills, giving those out there more time to return. But Eomer knew they wouldn't be able to do so for long. The Uruks were continuing to pound upon the gate, and it would not be long before they breached it.

"Come on, Usilidur," Eomer said to himself. "You can make it."

"I will be right back to fetch my brother, wait here. And after we show you the Door of Night, you got to tell me all about this quest of yours."

So this was it. This was where the quest would end: a small village in northern Rohan. Tareya soon returned with Varesi and Evalynn. Evalynn seemed confused about the Door of Night being here. Alagosir's explanation seemed well thought out, but Aranarth still could not tell where it could be located. Caves were few and far between in Rohan, and most were used for burials.

Aranarth looked to Varesi and Tareya as he began to speak, "We set out from Rivendell, charged by Lord Aragorn and Elrond with the task of finding the Door of Night. They believed it to be the upmost importance to find the Door of Night, to allow us to combat the coming darkness. We lost one of my kindred after a battle with Uruks from Isengard."

He continued, "A man joined our quest, by the name of Sameul Half-Shadow. He turned out to be a spy of Saruman, and he attempted to betray us to the evil wizard. We came to Edoras and met with your king, Theoden. He and his son have rode for Dunharrow and are marshaling all the fighting men of Rohan, to ride to Gondor's aid. He charged Eomer with the defense of Rohan at Helm's Deep. Two of us went with him."

"And now here we are, at the conclusion of our quest, two men, three elves, a dwarf, and a woman of Rohan."

IC: Evalynn Astalith

"I am not certain, though that is what Lady Tareya has said. I am surprised...and yet at the same time, I am not. It is quite logical that it is in such a small town - it would not make any sense if it were in Gondor, otherwise, it would have been discovered by now...The only way we will find out if it is the truth or not is to see it for ourselves."

Evalynn caught Alagosir's smile once again as she pondered his words

"Yes, I suppose you are right. But it is still a little suprising, a secret of such importance being here. I am also curious as to Lord Varesi and Lady Tareya's knowledge and involvement with the door"

She mused quietly

Of Usilidur Wenoway

Usilidur stumbled over the rocky terrain. His feet were moving much to fast for a human, yet sluggish for himself. He could feel his body slowing. Even his senses were suffering. The mental anguish and physical hardships would easily kill a man. It was of sheer willpower that he didn’t collapse to the dirt.

Many times he would feel himself surrounded by enemies, but a barrage of arrows, that his mind guided his body through, brought them down. Usilidur was only capable of moving and praying.

“Come on, Then, come on.”

Suddenly, he could feel a ring of warriors surround him. His elven outfit of the earlier fight had caught up. They were number less than fifteen and falling, but seeing their commander had bolstered the group to make a stand. His face set in a hard line, he mustn’t fail. He knew, as they did, that the elves would not survive this fight, but perhaps Usilidur could.

Glancing up, Usilidur found himself imminently close to the fortress. His legs pushed harder, but his guard had fallen to three. Yet, there was hope, because this was a close enough distance for a rescue attempt by Rohan.
