The Future: Dawn of Exploration, 2074
|
The human race finds itself at the dawn of an era of exploration. The previous year, the Boeing Corporation unveiled the first practical faster-than-light propulsion system. With the farthest reaches of the galaxy suddenly within arm's reach, the Falnstead Act is passed on 24 June 2074 with a unanimous vote, earmarking an unprecedented one quadrillion credits for galactic exploration, effectively setting off what would later be known as the Era of Exploration. Soon, nearly every major shipbuilder incorporated the Boeing drive into their new designs, and efforts started to retrofit existing vessels with the new technology. Massive spaceports over major cities were soon sped through construction, with stations over West Monroe, Chicago, London, and Anchorage being crowded by the time even minimal functionality was achieved. Millions of people sold everything to start anew on the new colonies being established daily. . .
This is an RPG set in September of 2074, ten months after the development of the Boeing Type I Light Drive, and three months after the passing of the Falnstead Act. You can be one of those waiting hours, even days to sign for passage aboard a colony ship, part of one of the major corporations suddenly thrust into the limelight of this unprecedented effort, or part of the Earth Confederation government or military. As of yet, Earth, the moon, and Mars are the only planets that have been widely colonised. There really isn't much else to explain, as I'd like to keep this an open-ended story.
But there are rules.

2. Keep the profanity/violence to a minimum.
3. Come on. Do you really think you're God/Jimmy Page?
4. The most pedantic part: Post a date (Day Month Year) and the time (in twenty-four-hour format) before each post.

Brief Bio:
Since the increased availabilty of space travel, and the colonization of the Moon and Mars, the USAF has found itself growing in nessecity and strength. It was being called "The New Marines" when Jaycen Bryce was old enough to enlist. Running from a shattered past, the young Texan signed up and took the first plane out of town. Since then, he has lived for his job. Though he originally trained as a fighter pilot, he later decided that the cockpit wasn't the place he wanted to be. Jaycen felt that the undermanned AFSF was more his cup of tea. After extensive training through many of the AFSF's many specialty services, and a brief stint in the Force's Airbourne division, Jaycen Bryce has found himself one of the best trained, most active member of the Force. So, when the the Light-Drive was revealed to the world, it was inevitable that he and his fellow Officers would soon be sercuring the newly built spaceports in US Territory...and many would probly be shipping off to new colonies sooner than later. Their assumptions were right.

Brief Bio: Always fascinated by the military, Elric "DEPped in" to the United States Navy barely two weeks after his seventeenth birthday, his ambitions set on becoming a damage controlman aboard a spacegoing vessel. He finished in the middle of his class, and requested being rotated aboard one of the Harvest Moon- class colony ships, but was instead stationed aboard the USS Lovegood, a destroyer. He reenlisted in 2072, and was assigned to a recruiting station in the booming city of West Monroe, on Earth. When the Navy began its own colony on the newly-discovered world of Aeara, he immediately requested and got transfer to the colony ship Dawn, at last fulfilling his original goals.

Occupation: He was a mechanic, but is now a pilot for the spaceships that use the Boeing Type I Light Drive.
Classification: Pilot for the ships that use the BTILD. (Military, I guess)
Skills: He can pilot a ship, and is quite proficient with his Revolver. Many people that see it call it ancient, and dangerous, but he belives in self protection. He is also a proficient Computer hacker and can hack many databases, and ships, if he wishes.
Brief Bio: Ron Owen was born in New York City in 2042, and was raised in a foster home. He was never adopted, and when he was 18, he left the foster home in which he lived for all his life. He got a small job as a mechanic's apprentice, and learned to repair many things, and he lived with the mechanic. He then made enough money to buy his own room in an apartment building, and opened up his own buisness. In 2068, he sold his apartment and his buisness to another one, and moved to Chicago, and settled down in a nice house there until 2074... When the BTILD was invented the world was in a rush, with a spaceport being built over Chicago! He was interested in working for Boeing or a spaceship producer that used the drive. He then found a job with the Boeing company itself, and he became a pilot for a space transport to one of the colonies on The Moon.

Brief Bio: Atticus Randall isn't Albert Einstein. He has better taste in hairstyles. Randall was one of the pioneers of Boeing's practical FTL drive, the modern incarnation of a Renaissance man. He was born in the Luna Golden Era, as it's now being called only 50 years later, when a number of men and women of tremendous talent were born at roughly the same time -- similar to the Renaissance itself in Florence, Italy with the birth of Michelangelo, Raphael, and Galileo in the same era. He sleeps very little, and seems to have a sponge for a mind -- it absorbs all it touches. Atticus now wants to be part of the first voyages of exploration to the beyond of space.

Because of this the Commandant needed a leader that above all else was smart and knew what needed to be done,DCCM Blake was the right man for the job. DCCM Blake was one of the first to go through the program, being highly successful in that course he was chosen by the commandant to assemble a team of the best the USCG has to offer, His team called ASAR one which srands for Atmospheric search and rescue team one is based on the international space station. He has been doing ASAR for approx two yrs now and has had a major impact in the number of accidents upon re-entering the atmosphere.

He then used his military experience and his natural skills with manipulating people to land a position of prestige within the burgeoning Neo Gloria Corporation's considerable security forces. Skills:Certifications in all Standard Welding Processes, and some exotics.
Brief Bio: After his years in school Malcolm wanted nothing more than to be an obscure working man in Vancouver. He hoped to find a job as a Welder for one of the ships headed out to the newly founded colonies, or on one of the colonies. He was raised with a good work ethic mostly due to the fact that his family was quite poor through out most of Malcolm's childhood. His family have all either worked hard the whole life, or died young of various dependency problems, Chemical dependency runs in Malcolm's family, and is the reason for most of the deaths in it. He is trying to work out a way to pay for his fathers last run through Rehab. Things may start to look up for Malcolm, what with the need for skilled craftsmen on new planets.
