Zanaek Grahorn
Elsir Vale
Healing potions? Not good. Zanaek concluded but wasn't entirely sure. It looked like the hobgoblins had healed from his frosty attack. He would have tried to discern whether they had more potions or how much they had of the ones they drank from, but yellow flames came pouring over him and his horse as the hell hounds attacked them with their fire-breaths. The one other thing he had noticed was that the hell hound he had killed was still in this plane.
Holy... his curse trailed off as he felt his horse stagger beneath him. The animal was hurt badly and would not last much longer under him if it suffered another attack. He was more worried about the hell hounds than his horse or the hobgoblins. They should have returned to their plane upon death, but the one hadn't. Not to mention the two that had attacked them was inside his circle of protection.
Literally inside it!!
"Oh Lord... we've got trouble, serious trouble!" Zanaek exclaimed and swallowed hard. He had been relying on Torm to protect them from these otherworldly creatures but that protection had failed. He could still feel Torm's strength flowing through him, so he knew at least some of the protection was still working for them. The cleric narrowed his eyes and curled his lip, whoever had brought these creatures into their realm knew what he was doing. He couldn't not send them back nor could he prevent them from reaching them in melee. All he had left was to bring upon them Torm's fury for defying His power!
"Damnable creature of Hell that thou defies the Lord and harm his followers, feel his wrath for your crime!" he shouted and pointed his right gauntleted hand at the hell hound nearest to him. A glowing energy of light erupted from his hand and ripped through the air directly for the creature.

I took the +2 from the saddle off cause its only for staying in the saddle. Right?

OOG: Yuul and Krayt, this would probably be a good time to mention that the Storm Bolt and Fiery Burst feats also boost your caster level by +1 for electric and fire spells, respectively. So Yuul, you're doing 7d6 instead of 6d6. Also, Yuul, you need to pick a corner rather than a square, since fireball is a burst effect and extends four squares in every direction from that corner. I'm not sure if our rules on diagonals apply to spell effects or not, so it might be four squares to the diagonal as well. Need Saint's call on that one. Also, starting a forest fire may not be the brightest idea.
Mtth, to avoid taking damage when your mount hits the ground (say, when it's killed), you must succeed at a DC 15 ride check. Otherwise it's 1d6 points of damage. So, assuming your mount dies this round, you're probably good.

IC: Najos
Najos howled in rage and pain as the cones of fire engulfed him. He loved fire, sure. But not all blasted over him! He shuddered once as waves of pain flowed through him. He then noticed Feanor trembling under him, obviously his steed got hit a lot worse than he had. Najos leapt from the saddle with a grace that his mother would have been proud of and ran back a few feet to stand next to Celbrandir. He spotted his prey as the hound a little extra scorched and concentrated again. "Well. Let's try this again, shall we?" He pointed again to the same hound and murmered a short prayer. "Protector of Life, thy will be done, but blast it, I want to live!" He shouted as he released the energy channeled through him and a second pale blue bolt of lightning from the sky to strike the beast.

Alessandro
The Drellin's Ferry Road
A string of curses echoed out over the road as Alessandro reeled from the strike. His back slammed hard into a tree as he stumbled away, but for all that it hurt, it hardly distracted from the pain in his hip. Grimacing, he took a moment to try and draw his shirt tighter around the wound, to stanch the flow of blood some. Skadi's spell - he tugged the fabric tighter and grimaced - the spell should keep the hobgoblin occupied long enough.
Gingerly, he tested his leg, then shook his head. Already the blood was spreading across his shirt and onto his breeches. He'd have to hold the wound closed himself. Sheathing his short blade, he levered himself upright from the tree-trunk, clutching his side.
<"You talk pretty big for someone with such bad aim,"> he called out airily, his bravado belied by the sweat streaming down his face. He rapped his chest with the blade of his rapier. <"A free shot for the whole chest ripping thing and you miss from two yards? Well,"> he added with a smirk, <"that was the first and last free shot you're going to get.">
Gritting his teeth against the jolts of pain from his side, he turned and disappeared into the undergrowth. The unmistakeable sheen of blood glistened on leaves and grass in his wake.
Tag: GM
OOC: Alessandro will take a 5-foot step to B7, and try a feint (1d20+11 = 23) to trick the hobgoblin into following him (while he's snuck around one of the trees to get behind) and then perform a sneak attack (roll to hit 1d20+11 = 14) aaand now this is just getting sad. On the very off chance that I did hit him, damage is 4d6+6 = 20.

DM OOG: Regarding Great Balls of Fire
(1) On the shape of the burst, the house rules on movement don't apply. Measure out 20 feet along the grid lines from the intersection you pick as the burst point. That's the four corners of a diamond that forms the blast circle on the grid.
(2) Yuul: Yes, you can hit an adjacent enemy with the burst, but because you're firing it into thick foliage, you still need to make a ranged touch attack. This is because of the way the fireball spell works: if that little ball of bat guano hits something along the way, it bursts prematurely at that point. Hilarity ensues. Of course you've got +1 with ranged attacks at less than 30 feet, and that bonus applies to this form of attack.
(3) Lastly, Yuul, you've called G1 as the square of detonation. That stands no matter what. Pick whichever corner of that square you wish, but it's not like you've had long seconds to think about the choice, what with your body fluids leaking out from three arrow wounds (and I might add said arrows are still stuck in you like a pincushion).
That's really it for me. See you on 21 May.

Ariel Elandinai
The road outside Drellin’s Ferry,
Elsir Vale, Sixth of Mirtul
Thank the Goddess! Ariel was glad to see her shots ring true, and hit the creature that she had been aiming at. But she was surprised to see that it remained standing and snarling. But the party managed to answer back in a strong response.
In the rear of the party, Celbrandir cast a spell, and was rewarded as a spray of five arrows came winging out of the trees, every one of them centered on him. Luckily, none managed to hit him. So much was going on around her, and the flames that came towards them, that even thought she might risk become a target, that she had to get off the ground. Standing still was only increasing her chances that she would become a landlocked target, and Areil was NOT going to allow that to happen.
With a speed quick even for an elf, and a flury of cloth being pushed aside, Ariel leaped high into the air, and took off as fast as she could, heading straight up. She needed to get distance and speed for her next attack. As she speed upwards, she drew another arrow, and quickly notched it.
The goddess had graced the Avariel with many things. The ability to attack while in a dive was one of them. And Ariel was about to do just that. As long as the goblins in the trees could continue to launch arrows at them, they were a threat. But Ariel's bow had a longer reach. And now she could see above the party as well.
Ariel turned, and began to head back down towards the party, poised and ready for her attack. She called a oil flash to the top of her pack. Once she launched her arrow, she was going to toss a flask of oil into the trees. With luck, between the breathing beasts, and the mage in the party, she was sure the oil would become useful. But right now, she aimed her bow at the goblin the furthest out from the trees. And when she came into range, let her arrow fly. She would deal with the goblins in the trees. That would also keep her out of reach from the fiery hounds as well. Ariel took a quick scan, to see if any other dangers were present, as she released her arrow.

IC: Halden Virthyr, Elsir Vale, near the Drellin's Ferry
Halden didn't really pay much attention to what was said. But still: he couldn't help but chuckle when he heard big A try to speak goblin... "Crazy bastard". But as soon as he watched the trees again, the bowman was gone. Disappeared in the dark. Halden yelled a provocation, now, trying to get the wretched creature to show himself, but to no avail. He could almost feel Skadi's eyes roll into her sockets. This sucked.
Meanwhile, Allessandro decided rushed forward, right for the hobgoblin previously aiming for Halden. The confused creature released the arrow when he tried to re-aim for the sprinter that came at him, but was so confused now that he missed them both by miles. It's a good thing they have hellhounds, 'cause if these guys tried to take them on their own, there wouldn't be any of them left by now.
And as a miniature snowstorm raced across the road, covering the bush in a small white coat of dow, the sky began to turn dark as thunderclouds rolled in from all directions, forming a great spinning cloud, streams of light crackling in between. This could get interresting.
And then the chaos erupted. A miniature snowstorm raced across the road, covering the bush in a small white coat of dow, the sky began to turn dark as thunderclouds rolled in from all directions, forming a great spinning cloud, streams of light crackling in between. Thunder and lightning struck with a command you'd hear only in an adventure story, more volleys flew, but missed, and then two hellhounds jumped with great furiosity, and landed right inside the shield.
Halden turned with surprise and yelled instinctively to his allies "They're inside the bubble!".
The hounds snarled, and flames blew across the inside of their mouths. They inhaled deep one time, and exhaled fericiously. And out of all things that could've come out of their mouths, it were cones of flames. I hate flames.
Halden quickly raised his shield to his head, but could feel the scorching heat eating his hand and knees.
When the heat finally stopped, he peered over his shield, but felt a painful sensation at his arms and legs, namely his clothes that were still on fire. After Halden had finally put them out, a mad sensation had filled him...
"Ohhh, you are DEAD!"
He sprinted forward to the right hellhound, but jumped right over him in quite a bold move when he noticed Zanaek aiming for this one, spun around and quickly attacked the other hellhound, tried to aim his spear right between the eyes... And then attacked again.

OOG: Well Cyro, you can't really move far and attack twice at the same time. You could, however, take a 5 ft step as a free action to H6 and attack Hellhound I7 twice, since you're the only guy with BAB +6 and thus the only guy with two attacks normally, at +11 and +6.
Ktala, where are you getting those numbers from? Did you roll a 14 and add 1? Or did you mean to add 11 from your attack?

Going to need you to roll 1 more d6 as well to add to your damage, since you're doing 7d6 thanks to your Caster Level of 7 for Fire Spells from your Fiery Burst feat. So it's going to be somewhere between 24 and 29 points of damage
And Mtth, I'm going to need a DC 17 reflex save from you. 1d20+4 (you don't get the +2 bonus to saves from the magic circle, since the origin of this attack isn't evil). And your horse is most definitely dead after this fireball, even if it manages to succeed on its save.
