Hello everyone and welcome to the first ever FanForce NorthEast Jedi Draft! The Jedi Drafts are something that have been going on in the SWC forums for quite a while. If you are unfamiliar with them however, this is how it works.
We will have ten GMs in this draft, made up of two conferences of 5.
Once signups are complete, we begin drafting Jedi/Sith
Now, you have 6 picks to make your team up. When it comes time to make your pick, you can only pick a fighter that is available on your division’s draft list, so pay very, very close attention to who is left in your division.
Hints for picks? Pick strong individual fighters, and try to stick to one side of the force. You will understand why you need a good lightside or darkside team a bit later when I explain how the battles work. If you need advice, don’t be afraid to PM one of the judges. We will try and help you as best we can, still staying fair to the game. Also, GMs only have 12 hours to make their pick, or they will be bumped to the bottom of the list.
You can trade with other GMs, ONLY IN YOUR CONFERENCE. Trading can only begin after the second round of drafting in your conference is complete. All trading stops when the first round of fighting is complete. After the first round of fighting is over, trading and free-agent picks can commence until the second round is posted, and so on. After round 5 of fighting is complete, that is your final team. If you want to do a trade, you can communicate with the GMs in any way you want, but both parties MUST PM the trade to me. I am the only one that can approve trades, but even then, I do have the right to deny a trade that I don’t think is fair. To do free-agent picks, just post in the thread who you are dropping and who you are picking up. If you want to pick someone up that is not on the draft-list, PM me first, otherwise, do whatever you want. Free-agents can only commence after drafting is complete, and between fighting rounds.
Uhh.
Now, let’s move on to the actual fighting. After everyone finishes drafting, I will post the first round-match-ups. You will only fight GMs in your conference, and you fight each GM once. Which means, every GM will play at least 4 matches. The top two GMs in each conference at the end of these 4 rounds move to the playoffs. The playoffs are single elimination, with a best-of-three semi-finals and finals. Here’s out you fight the other GMs.
I post the match-ups, and you send in your numbers. What are numbers? I’ll show you. Let’s pretend, that your team is (unlikely) Luke Skywalker, Yoda, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Mace Windu, Anakin Skywalker, Qui-Gon Jinn. When it comes times to send in your numbers, all you do, is assign the numbers 1-6 to each Jedi. You can do this randomly, or however you want. Some people seem to think it’s possible to be better number pickers than others. So, let’s say you send in your numbers like so:
1. Obi-Wan Kenobi
2. Anakin Skywalker
3. Mace Windu
4. Yoda
5. Qui-Gon Jinn
6. Luke Skywalker
Pretty simple. Let’s say I decide to call the number 4 first. Your number 4 (Yoda) fights whoever the opponent has assigned number 4 to. Let’s pretend that it’s Plo Koon. Three judges will then vote on the match who they think will win. In this case, it’s Yoda. In a normal match, all 6 numbers end up getting called, and then there’s a team match at the end where your entire team faces the opponent’s entire team, hence picking a cohesive team during drafting.
You can also do something radical with your numbers, and this is called a trump. You can trump two of your Jedi together to fight one of the opponent’s Jedi. You would send in your numbers like this.
1. Obi-Wan Kenobi trumped with 5. Qui-Gon Jinn
2. Anakin Skywalker
3. Mace Windu
4. Yoda
6. Luke Skywalker
When I call number 1, Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon fight whoever is assigned to your opponent’s number 1. After that is judged, let’s say I call number 5. Qui-Gon will automatically get a loss because he already fought before, so that’s the downside of the trump, and it is really a gamble. You don’t want to trump your two highest picks, the best strategy is to pick a solid trump with your last couple picks to try and squeeze a win out of them.
So, that’s pretty much it for the rules as far as I know. If anyone has any questions that can’t be answered with simple reading comprehension, PM me.
