Its getting close to that time of year again  Our 3rd annual Regional Holiday Dinner/gift exchange
1st year we had it here in syracuse.
2nd year was hosted by Rochester.
This time it is in Buffalo NY
When : Jan 07
Date: TBA
Here are the rules:
We ask everyone to bring a wrapped gift to exchange.
There is a cost for dinner - details TBA
Must be ready to get together for sillyness.
And most importantly - have fun!

Quick update from Buffalo:
We are looking into several options right now. One place would have given us a room for 3 hours, buffet, and $10 card towards video games for $25 per person.
Looking for cheaper alternatives and will update when I have more.

So far January 21st is the only day that I have a real conflict.
January 14th is The Rebellion's monthly meeting, but that's usually in the morning or could be combined with the dinner.
Another club I belong to is trying to schedule a party in Jan, but no dates have been set for that yet either.

At this stage I would recommend the last weekend in Jan to insure you have ample time for planning and everyone can recover from the holidays financially and travel wise. If we do it the first two weeks of jan its literally right around the corner.
My vote would be for last Sat in Jan.

Chris - My suggestion would be to have a poll and see what dates a majority of everyone can attend. I believe we need to set a deadline for the planning for this for Dec 23rd.
I really feel we need to have specifics by then.
Hopefully that will give everyone sufficient time to plan accordingly and see if they can attend.

Sorry, but real life has been eating up all of my time lately. I'm sure you could understand.
We are still working on places to hold the party that will be reasonable and accomodate us. One place would have cost $25 a head and another $15, but there would have been no private room and smoking is allowed throughout the premises.
One question I would like to ask is to get a head count of people who plan to attend.
Is anyone other than Buffalo, Rochester, and Syracuse attending?

I'm sure there are quite a few folks planning to attend but I think many won't be able to give a semi-definite answer without knowing what date the dinner will be held.
I've seen Beezel post interest in attending and I know that he gave SWAP a heads up as well. Other than that it will probably be primarily Buffalo, Rochester & Syracuse.
Maybe having a date poll would give some sort of head count estimate as you could see how many folks are voting?
Also, I know this is a NE regional but being that it will be in Buffalo should we extend an invite to YJN and nearby Canadian chapters as some of them might have less of a drive (border time not-with-standing) than some NE chapters?

Hey all- just chiming in with my 2 cents...
I think the idea to extend the invitation to all the nearby groups, especially those we've done events with in the past year, is an excellent one. Definitely YJN, SWAP, and the Bighamton folks as well. Besides, that would probably help defray the costs a bit more, wouldn't it?
Also, depending on the venue, I would be willing to bring one of my X-Box systems for SW gaming if a tv monitor is accessable. Or a Halo fragfest. Whatever. Nothing says the Holidays like a good fragfest.
Well, that's all I had to say. LMK if I can assist in any way.

this is suppoosed to be a regional thing so anyone in the NE region can attend which is why its crucial to have a date of the party so everyone can determine if travel is feasable for them or not.
I dont mind at all if we invite chapters outside the region. I think anyone who is willing to make the drive should be allowed to come.
At this point in order to get an accurate head count we really sh9ould do a poll on what dates everyone can attend before we can determine venue etc.
