Woah, I didn't mean to stir up so much with a simple question! I guess there's a history that I didn't know about. happy

I am down for whatever, as I am totally free. I'm also down with leaving the Portland area if that's what it takes. happy

Nonsense! The stirring up of the fanforce is good! It's good for them, they just don't know it. It's like eating their veggies. wink

A Wookiee withboth arms outstretched in theair, as if he is calling a touchdwn, or a field goal, good isn't what I would call something that reflects the Oregon Chapter of this Star Wars fan group...

There is lots of Star Wars to discuss, there's more Star Wars now than ever before with the Clone Wars series! It's a very exciting time, lots of fun, shorter waits between new Star Wars stuff. I'm just loving it.

You guys should definitely get together. Heck even schedule a tiny meeting just for the sake of the Fan Force, even if only 2 people show up. It's like in Battlestar Galactica, a representative for the humans shows up every year to meet with the cylons, but they never show, until the series starts and the cylons show up and start killing. But the humans kept showing up for 40 years, unmet wink

sweet, I guess I was too naive to catch that back story. Of course I was a small child when I watched them. I've seen a few episodes here and there but it's been a long time. I loved that show!

Or are we talking about the new one?(Which I refuse to watch because apparently they made Starbuck a GIRL...and you can't do that. I don't care if your a guy and think it's okay. Starbuck CANNOT be a girl. PERIOD.)

Imrahil, if you are still looking for work, I have a friend in the garrison who is setting up shop in an office. He said he was hiring. I don't have all the details, but if you are interested, I could set something up for you to meet with him.

Just shoot me a PM, if you're interested.

Larena, I was referring of course to the new one. The old one sounds terrible, sorry, it was a corny Star Wars rip off. The new one is excellent, one of the best shows on television, ever, if you ask me. Excellent acting by Oscar and Emmy-nominated stars, a great story, amazing special effects (I can't believe this is TV), and just really addicting. I got through all four seasons in no time. Starbuck to me is always a girl, I never saw the original corniness, so to me, that character is a girl. She is one of my least favorite characters just because she's obnoxious, she's way too girly, just overly emotional and unbearable to watch half of the time. She thinks she's all tough when in fact she's just a weak, emotional girl, which ruins it for me. They should have made her like Lara Croft or something. Also she's the only somewhat weak performer in the show (both Adamas are great, Balthar is amazing, the president is great, etc.), mainly because when she's about to cry or laugh they BOTH look the same. Those are two exactly opposite emotions, they should look nothing alike. They even sound alike with her. It's like what's going on is she crying or laughing? And she's made out to be this overly emotional girl, who can really tell?! In situations where she should be laughing, she cries, and vice versa, so it's immensely confusing / annoying. That's my only complaint. But aside from that I'm having Battlestar withdrawals, after having finished what is on DVD, I miss being able to pop in new episodes and see them.

Well I suppose if corniness is going to effect your enjoyment of awesomeness then that's too bad. tongue
Psh, you probably don't even like the original Lost in Space. not_talking

Starbucks character, which it seems that is the way it turned out, just does not translate well as a girl at all. For one thing, he was supposed to be similiar to a more pleasure seeking version of Han Solo. Just the right amount of blown up confidence and ego, yet still comes through enough to "get that hyperdrive to work". I always loved his outfit too because it looked like a Ceremonial Luke outfit. He had the awesome jacket and everything. Apollo was the more serious NON-whiney version of the dashing main character(that only "those" types of girls go for, haha). Starbuck was there to balance him out in his suave comical way. These two are if Han Solo and Luke Skywalker suddenly became pals and hung out at the cantina all the time. Doesn't make sense, right? That was the beauty of their friendship. It didn't make sense! And those are the best ones. Boomer adds yet another spectrum of character. It seems like the girls carried no weight what so ever in the cast. Which is too bad. Not that I cared, I could watch the Apollo-Starbuck duo beat the whole cylon army and that would be enough for me, haha. Guess it's a result of the 70's? *shrugs* Dames.

Ah, Commander Adama...*chuckles* He's like one of those loveable leaders you just want to hug! Haha! He's very serious in his own way. I don't know, I guess I'd have to go into some detailed character analysis to fully understand what makes him that son of a gun leader.

And Count Baltar, oh boy. That there is the best count baltar ever. This seemingly cruel powerful "leader" of the cylons who, when obvserved longer, really has no power at all! The episodes where they have him prisoner on the 12 colonies are pretty much hilarious. He's like an all powerful-suddenly gone powerless character who doesn't know what to do with himself. Episodes go on and he just sits there in his cell, always trying to plot a way of escape. Tries a few times and fails. But eventually does. I find the whole thing just comical. Seeing Baltar escorted around ship cafeterias and such.

And though Boxey and his little "dog" were embraced by many, I never really liked them. Kind of annoyed me. The dogs too creepy if you ask me. Kind of like a Falkor thing if you ask me... never liked Falkor...something not right about a luck dragon that looks like a creepy dog...

So I'm sorry it was just too corny for you Bowen. And perhaps it is because it's connected to my childhood that I think it's so great. I remember being homeschooled and always looking forward to taking a break and watching Lost in Space at 10am and Battlestar Galactica at 11! Yeah...sure...my "lunch period".... whistling

Regardless. It's great. tongue

Haha, interesting...

I only really know or care about the current Battlestar, I mean if something is too shoddy in production value and just not high enough quality, as is true of almost all TV before the '80s, then I can't much tolerate it. Lost in Space is hokey just like The Original Series is hokey, it only got good in the 80s with TNG. Unlike old films, old TV just isn't watchable. And I know him as just Baltar, not Count Baltar, don't even know what that refers to, haha.

In any case the new series is awesome, highly acclaimed, and lots of fun!

The only bit of BSG that I have seen was the "movie" that encompassed the first four episodes of the old series.
