Hey gang, Im sure most of us happened to attend the Portland comic show, trooping or otherwise. I happened to purchase a few issues of Knights of the Old republic, the Ice Planet Hoth adventure board game (complete except for one game piece) and best of all, a Mace Windu force fx saber for the amazing price of $65. How was everyone else's time there and what did you all come away with?

Woah! What a great time it was indeed. DST had a Huge backdrop for pictures, and we had lots of characters to see and pose with. Thanks to all of DST for making the PDX Comicbook Show the greatest.

I did buy a few movies, shook hands with a couple artists, and had a great time as Han Solo.

We had a ball. My wife Blue and our son were also there. It was fun seeing everyone and also having the Dark Side troopers filmed by the PDX 49 film crew. Stay tunned for their Portland Oddities section this coming Friday. I love being an Oddity. grin

Bluenote, it was great seeing you and meeting your girl friend. It was also very nice of her to let you buy all that cool stuff for yourself instead of insisting that you spend all the money on her. So, when can we expect her posting on the OFF? wink

oh she's pretty keen to the idea. She's nervous about not knowing enough trivia and whatnot, but she'll get over it. She also really wants to make a costume after seeing you guys, so we may both join DST as at least spotters for now. Im going to go to the fabric store soon and scope out jedi materials and she is deciding who she would want to be. I was thinking shed make a good Jaina Solo. any suggestions? Did anyone have enough time to "shop"?

We enjoyed trooping ...I am glad Karyn enjoyed doing Leia..WE were very tired when we got home. I bought a large Vinyl Underdog statue, and a 2006 book about everything from The Munsters. Karyn bought a couple of Star Wars toys for our son. I was happy to pick up the Ambush at Illum with Snow Bunny Padme figures..A Target Exclusive. We enjoyed visiting with everyone... REMEMBER Eric don't forget to Feed Little Solo. LOL...Fun time. Peace, Allan and Karyn

Bluenote, I will think about a possible costume for your girlfriend. But I'm already trying to think up a new costume for my wife Blue. Something that has less blue paint to put on.

I did not get anything for myself (no money). But I did get a couple of R2D2s for my son.

I had an interesting and unique experience at the COmic Book Show. One of our new Jedi hopefulls, Tim, was there for his first official troop as a Jedi. I think his comtume looked pretty damned good, if I may say so myself. I only pulled an all-nighter to get it finished for him for the show.
So I sacrificed sleep to get my buddy trooping with us. I was under the gun and under alot of pressure to get this project done. I made him a promise that he would be able to troop this event and in good fashion, I kept to my word and did what was necessary to see to it that he had a positive trooping experience.
He had a lot of fun and rather enjoyed being able to troop with everyone. So for me, it was a great experience. Not only is it rewarding when you put smiles on the kids faces as they see and interact with you, but it is also uniquely rewarding to see the joy in a friends face as he gets to experience what it is that us costumers do on a regular basis.
So despite the lack of sleep - and being waken up by our Special Ops / Desert Trooper asking me how long I am going to sleep (it was maybe an hour that I had in the form of a nap)m it was a fun and rewarding experience.
Of course having the PDX 49 people there on hand was cool too! Of course... a certain rebel took it upon himself to play "Mr Director" for the filmed segments that they were doing on us. Hmmm.... good times. Goota love that!
