Figured I'd introduce myself since I'm a Star Wars fan here in Oregon. I haven't really socialized with many SW fans in years except a coworker of mine who isn't as into the series as I am.

I've been a big Star Wars fan since about 1996, although I'm not quite as into the collecting as I was back then. Over the last couple years I've been wanting to get into costuming and join a group, but really have no clue where to start. Thats part of what brought me here. I figure find more fans in the area and then I'll get a better idea where to start. Plus it'd be nice to be able to socialize with fans besides just my coworker. Ok I'll take that back, my wife is a bit of a fan, but mainly of the Lego Star Wars game lol and not as much into the series itself.

later.

welcome Capt-Jay83!

You should go to the BBQ tomorrow. You will meet a bunch of costumers.

My advice about asking for costume help is to not be to aggressive with your questions. Socialize with the members. Let them see you as being a nice guy and then causally ask how you would go about starting a costume.

I totally want to go to that, but I'm working tomorrow until 2:30pm and I dunno how long it'd take me to get there after work if I took the max. Hopefully I can catch the next get together though.

We will be there for quite some time. I will definitely be there, since I pretty much organized this shindig (with the help of a garrison mate). I am the Garrison Membership Liason for Cloud City Garrison. I love talking shop with new folks. If you have any questions on costuming, I will get you the answers. I'm pretty easy going.

As far as a Max ride from Hillsboro to town, it depends on where in Hillsboro you reside in. The Hatfield Government office building (which is the end of the line), for instance is a 38 minute trip to the Washington Park Zoo. Five minutes later you are at Goose Hollow.

Here is the link to the Max schedule for tomorrow: http://trimet.org/schedules/s/t1100_0.htm

Just scroll down to the closest time for the stop that is nearest you and time it accordingly. I'd love to have you join us. Seriously, it looks to be about a 10 minute drive from Council Crest Park to the Max stop at PGE Park (which is the next stop past Goose Hollow). If it is a matter of you needing a ride up to the park from the Max stop, it wouldn't be a problem. If you want to come out and join us, we can make it happen.

I'll see what I can do, but the closest stop to me when I get off work will be the fair grounds one, but I think there may be a delay there because of the air show going on right across the street. With any luck though, I'll be able to hopefully make it there.

I sent you a PM. Contact information is there. If you make it, great. If not, like I said there is always another time.
