Hello all! Since it has been 2 years since we had one, I thought it was time for us all to have another summer multi-club event. So please feel free to toss out ideas! We'd be aiming for an August date, most likely.

In the past, we've had a beach day at Huntington Beach and a BBQ in Orange County.


Stuff to consider:


Distance. The 5 So Cal groups spread over close to 200 miles. So not everyone's going to be happy. Orange County/Riverside are somewhat the most "Central" locations.


Money. As much as I would love to do fancy stuff, I know that I'm not the only one being hurt by the economy. So simpler might be better.






So ideas: I would be up for either a beach or a BBQ picnic again.

I also had a crazy idea of a group trip to Medieval Times. It's more pricey, but I thought it could be fun.


Let me know what else you guys have in mind!

We very much enjoyed the potluck BBQ up in Orange County. We're used to driving up that way a lot so it's not a biggie to us. Of course this year we'll have a couple month old baby with us now but that's no biggie either really.
Felicita Park here in Escondido is a really nice place to get together though it does mean some driving for other folks, but it's at the northern end of San Diego so it's not nearly as bad.

I agree that Medieval Times sounds pricey, but awesome. I've loved it the two times I went. Honestly though, I'm up for anything. And it should be a day long affair, minus driving time, since we see each other rarely.

I Orange County does not sound too far for me. LOL.

I would suggest that we have it at the beach or a park. If every one is driving... then I think that it may be too much for money sake.

But if everyone is okay with spending money... there is the unoffical Star Wars Day at Disney.

beach or park sounds good to me - perhaps each club can come up with one wacky SW-themed activity/game to host?

I hate sand, surf, and sun, so my preference is a park, but I will show up at whereever it is presuming i'm able to. And my preference is Orange County, don't like Escandido as over 2 1/2 hours drive time is a bit much. (mapquest puts that at just a teensy bit over 150 miles for me)

I concur, the park is the way to go. You are so limited when you go to the beach. Volleyball . . and that's about it.
And every time we do something at the beach, like 2 people go swimming.
The park has volleyball, baseball, soccer, and no sand getting into every crevice.

I like the idea of having each FF plan an activity. That would be awesome.


One of my concerns is that the 501st picnic will be at Mile Square Park in July. I don't want to try to overlap/copy anything they're doing.
