That's nothing, considering the man has his own action figure.[face_plain][face_thinking]

Some very interesting news, though I'm sure it will get a mixed reception.

From Tom Hodges' Yahoo group main page [emphasis mine]:
For the last 3 years, Tom has been the regular fixture among the Star Wars Universe. Providing the art for the very popular Hyperspace webstrip series ?Evasive Action? which begun in October of 2004 with ?Reversal of Fortune? and recently ended its 3rd storyline in the series, ?Prey?. Next in the series is ?End Game? (working title) coming this Fall and after that, a whole collaboration with author Karen Traviss on a new Webstrip for Hyperspace.

A new webstrip is always a good thing. :D I wonder what it will be about... possibly clones or Mandalorians? [face_thinking] :p

Yeah... I'm not thrilled at all with the webstrips so far, and Traviss's involvement can't bring anything good to the table.

Come, come---let's not be so pessimistic. :p

Depending on the subject, this could turn out well. The writing of a comic isn't the same as that of a novel; an author has to take a different approach to each. I haven't been too keen on Traviss' more recent works, but I'm willing to give this a try. She might be well-suited to the comics medium, for all we know.

    Though I'd vastly prefer a Pena-penned webstrip... [face_mischief] [face_batting]

The three things I have to remind myself when I post:

    1) Don't argue religion.
    2) Don't argue politics.
    3) Don't argue Traviss.

As I always (try) to do, I'll approach this with an open mind. Besides, a Mandalore comic strip (I can't imagine it being anything otherwise) might be pretty cool.

I doubt it'll be Mando. RepCom is my bet.

Travis = clones and/or Fett. Therefore, my interest doesn't = high.

I'm guessing Mandalorians in the Yuuzhan Vong invasion - take it to a seperate timeframe than the OT and Clone Wars/Purge periods covered by Rookies, the classic strips and the Ghent/TDH series... [face_thinking]

I'm looking forward to it. Traavis is a good author, and while Triple Zero and Targets kind of annoyed me, I still contend that Hard Contact was one of the best SW novels in years, and I also enjoyed Odds and Bloodlines, so it should be good. Personally, I'm hoping we'll get to see Spar and Fenn Shysa during the Clone Wars or just after. That story would make for a great webstrip.

Why do that when she could do the infinitely-more-interesting clone troopers meeting Kaminoans and disobeying orders while Jedi talking about how cool they are while torturing POWs?

Lucasfilm oversees ALL continuity. The same person who oversees it for the webstrips also overseas it for DH and the Novels. There have been slight glitches here and there, but nothing that couldn't be taken from a certain point of view. ;)

As for using the Webstrips as a testbed for something out of the box. I'm ALL for that! I'd love something that wasn't expected. It would be interesting to play with things. I have a few ideas I plan on shooting past Pabawan. Who knows, maybe we'll change your mind about the webstrips.

For those interested, I'm well into the new "Evasive Action" strip. I have quite a few finished and I would expect to hear something on a start date soon. And if anyone will be attending the Dallas Sci Fi Show October 28 and 29, come by and say hello.

Woah, a new webstrip, that sounds awesome! I second McEwok, this'll most likely be about Mandos and Vong (or at least that's me hoping so :p). The NJO is, after all, an era that is rather unexplored in graphical stuff, and it'd be kandosii to see an actual comic strip set in the time. [face_skull]

    [:D]

Tom, you're making my day! :D

    Tom,

Which size is the next EA strip going to be? The classic (weekday) size or the newer larger (sunday) size?

It will be the same as the last EA format.

    Aha, a clue!

I really doubt it will be set in the NJO period . . .

I'm saying nothing beyond what I have... but I can tell you that I am REALLY looking forward to what we'll be doing on that strip.

As for EA4... I can tell you that if you're a Vader fan... You're in for a HUGE treat. LOTS of Vader!

Oh man, a Traviss-Hodge Mando webstrip. Most assuredly a concordance of greatness.
