    Should the online TOR timeline entries narrated by Lance Henriksen be added to the Reference Material section?

    I just thought of another addition: the Star Wars Essential Guides should be added to "Best Series."

    Hav, should I just add category names to each version of the award? I can do categories and winner names if you send them to me in advance.

    That's right; voting is now closed. However, if you sneak your PM in before I start actually counting votes, I will honor it.

    Alright, everybody -- it's time for the second annual Aluminum Falcon awards!

    For Best Novel:

    Coming in fifth is Imperial Commando: 501st.

    Fourth place goes to Darth Bane: Dynasty of Evil.

    It's been a long time, but people still fondly remember Coruscant Nights: Patterns of Force.

    In second is Fate of the Jedi: Outcast.

    And Lit, you voted:

    <img src="http://www.helikitty.com/falcons/best_novel.jpg" width="300">

    Fate of the Jedi: Abyss as the best novel of 2009!

    In the category of Best TV Episode:

    We have The Clone Wars: Holocron Heist coming in fifth, barely ahead of honorable mentions Cargo of Doom and Legacy of Terror.

    Tied for third are The Clone Wars: Trespass and The Hidden Enemy.

    They were both just one point behind second-place finisher Hostage Crisis.

    By strong consensus, the number one TV episode of the year is:

    <img src="http://www.helikitty.com/falcons/best_episode.jpg" width="300">

    The Clone Wars: Landing at Point Rain.

    We'll end tonight's installment with the Aluminum Falcon for Best Comic Author:

    Fifth place goes to the great Jeremy Barlow.

    Our fourth place finisher is newcomer Tom Taylor.

    Mick Harrison takes third.

    The battle for first was, as you may have guessed, a close-fought battle of the titans between the two Johns. Just barely, we managed a swap of last year's standings: John Ostrander comes in a strong second.

    That means the 2009 Aluminum Falcon for Best Comic Author goes to:

    <img src="http://www.helikitty.com/falcons/best_comic_author.jpg" width="300">

    John Jackson Miller, the genius behind the outgoing Knights of the Old Republic!

    Thanks for doing this, Havac.

    I don't watch the TV series, so I can't comment about that. While Abyss wasn't my favorite book, I will admit that it certainly triggered a lot of discussion and pro and con comments since its debut, so it was certainly one of the most important and intriguing novels and talked about novels of the year. So, congratulations to Troy Denning.

    I'm very pleased about John Jackson Miller's choice as best Comic writer of the year! I have loved just about every issue of his Knights of the Old Republic. Zayne will always be one of my favorite characters. KotOR will be greatly missed after issue number 50!!! :(

    Voting for Best Trade Paperback revealed:

    A tie for fifth place between Knights of the Old Republic: Dueling Ambitions and The Clone Wars: The Wind Raiders of Taloraan.

    In fourth, Legacy: The Hidden Temple.

    Third place goes to Legacy: Storms.

    Voters just can't get enough of Legacy trades -- it was the same way last year. Vector Volume 2 takes second.

    By overwhelming popular vote, the Aluminum Falcon for Best Trade Paperback goes to:

    <img src="http://www.helikitty.com/falcons/best_trade.jpg" width="300">

    Knights of the Old Republic: Vindication!

    Honorable mention goes to Vector Volume 1 and Han Solo and the Hollow Moon of Khorya, both just one point out of contention.

    Now let's move on to Best Reference Material:

    The Clone Wars Campaign Guide places fifth, just ahead of Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Praji.

    In fourth is The History of Xim and the Tion Cluster.

    Third goes to the Legacy Era Campaign Guide.

    In second is The Despotica. You see that, StarWars.com?

    By the largest margin of any category, the Aluminum Falcon for Best Reference Material goes to:

    <img src="http://www.helikitty.com/falcons/best_reference.jpg" width="300">

    The Essential Atlas!

    And now for our Best Comic Artist:

    In fifth is Invasion illustrator Colin Wilson.

    Omar Francia takes fourth for his work on Legacy.

    In third, KOTOR favorite Brian Ching.

    Second place goes to the incredible Doug Wheatley, up one spot from last year.

    It's hardly any surprise, then, that the Aluminum Falcon for Best Comic Artist goes, for the second year, to:

    <img src="http://www.helikitty.com/falcons/best_comic_artist.jpg" width="300">

    The one, the only, Jan Duursema!

    Let the awards continue!

    For Best Comic Arc:

    We have a fifth-place tie between Legacy: Tatooine and Knights of the Old Republic: Masks.

    Keeping this from being a total KOTOR/Legacy sweep is Invasion: Refugees in fourth place.

    At third is Knights of the Old Republic: Destroyer.

    Second place goes to Legacy: Renegade.

    And proving Lit loves Legacy is our first-place winner:

    <img src="http://www.helikitty.com/falcons/best_comic_arc.jpg" width="300">

    Legacy: Fight Another Day.

    Up next is Best Cover Artist:

    In fifth we have Omar Francia.

    There's a tie for third between Sean Cooke and Benjamin Carre.

    In second is Best Comic Artist Jan Duursema.

    Taking home his first-ever Aluminum Falcon, as 2009's Best Cover Artist, is:

    <img src="http://www.helikitty.com/falcons/best_cover_artist.jpg" width="300">

    Doug Wheatley!

    Deserving of honorable mention are Jo Chen and Chris Scalf.

    Now let's determine the Best Licensee of 2009:

    In fifth we have young-readers publisher Scholastic.

    Fourth place goes to Battle of Hoth purveyors LucasArts.

    In third is Wizards of the Coast, in its last full year as Star Wars RPG publisher.

    Del Rey takes home second.

    In a foregone conclusion, the Aluminum Falcon for Best Licensee goes to:

    <img src="http://www.helikitty.com/falcons/best_licensee.jpg" width="300">

    Dark Horse Comics, for the second year running!

    Stick around, folks; we'll have more!

    Time to honor our Best Novel Author:

    In fifth is Drew Karpyshyn.

    Fourth place goes to Michael Reaves.

    Karen Traviss is sent off with third place.

    In second is Troy Denning, author of this year's Best Novel.

    Edging him out in a squeaker was:

    <img src="http://www.helikitty.com/falcons/best_novel_author.jpg" width="300">

    Aaron Allston!

    In the category of Best Series:

    Fate of the Jedi and Invasion tie for fourth place.

    Coruscant Nights gets a lot of love; it's in third, just like last year.

    Second place goes to Legacy.

    The winner of the Aluminum Falcon for Best Series is:

    <img src="http://www.helikitty.com/falcons/best_series.jpg" width="300">

    Knights of the Old Republic!

    Let's hand out the prize for this year's Best Short Story:

    With only four entries, all of our nominees place, with Imprint managing fourth place.

    Third goes to Death in the Slave Pits of Lorrd, with a strong showing.

    The Lost Tribe of the Sith series takes both of the top slots, with Skyborn in second.

    That means our winner is:

    <img src="http://www.helikitty.com/falcons/best_short_story.jpg" width="300">

    Lost Tribe of the Sith: Precipice.

    Now we'll find out who's the Best Artist of 2009:

    In yet another tie, Essential Atlas mapmaker Modi and Legacy penciler Omar Francia both come in fifth.

    Fourth place goes to Brian Ching.

    Best Cover Artist Doug Wheatley comes in third overall.

    In second is Best Comic Artist Jan Duursema.

    Who beat our two Aluminum Falcon winners out for the Best Artist award?

    <img src="http://www.helikitty.com/falcons/best_artist.jpg" width="300">

    That would be our second Essential Atlas illustrator to place, Chris Trevas!

    Now it's time to deliver the Best Author of the year:

    Karen Traviss comes in fifth, just ahead of honorable mention and Best Novel Author Aaron Allston (voting was pretty weird this year).

    In fourth, Best Novel author Troy Denning.

    Third place goes to The Essential Atlas's masterminds, Jason Fry and Dan Wallace.

    In second is John Ostrander.

    Taking home the coveted Aluminum Falcon image of a statuette is:

    <img src="http://www.helikitty.com/falcons/best_author.jpg" width="300">

    Best Comic Author, Best Short Story author, Best Trade Paperback author, and Best Series author John Jackson Miller, this year's big winner!

    And now the big one: Best Expanded Universe Work:

    Voters this year had a very hard time making up their minds, with little commonality between votes in this category. Tied for fourth are Legacy: Renegade, Invasion: Refugees, and Best TV Episode The Clone Wars: Landing at Point Rain.

    Third place goes to Best Novel Fate of the Jedi: Abyss.

    Strong backing put Imperial Commando: 501st in second place.

    Crushing the competition was our winner, the only Expanded Universe work with broad voting in its favor this year:

    <img src="http://www.helikitty.com/falcons/best_eu_work.jpg" width="300">

    The Essential Atlas, our Best Reference Work this year and your favorite Star Wars product of 2009!

    Congratulations to all of our winners, and thanks to everyone who voted! Thanks also to CooperTFN for his excellent award images!

    So to recap: 501st is the second-best EU work, but the fifth-best novel. Allston is a better novel author than Denning, though Denning is a better author overall, and Abyss was better than Outcast. Got all that, folks?
