Apparently, according to the radio drama, the fleet at Endor was the sector fleet (of note is also that the Atlas states that Vader arrived at Endor with the Executor while he is shown arriving onboard an ISD in the movie. However, according to for example ROTJ storyboards, the Emperor did arrive onboard the Executor).

Aha! So that's where the sector group reference came from; I'd said for the longest time that the bulk of the Endor fleet was local, but I could never recall the source.

The ROTJ novel also has the Emperor arrive on Executor.

Well, considering that the Endor fleet lost around half of it's Star Destroyers and that many of the famous "named" ships survived, it appears that the forces from the Moddell Sector Fleet suffered quite heavily during the battle.

Well, they're Rimkin forces. The captains of those ships probably married their cousins. It's a wonder they could even avoid driving their capital ships into one another.

That it's the Moddell Sector Fleet is apparently mentioned explicitly in the The Truce at Bakura-sourcebook. That's a sourcebook I skipped, but if anyone have it handy...

Hmm, that would explain the two battlecruisers at least. They were prominent in the Empire's fringe forces.

You might want to consult the EGW on that again - page 167 ;)

Running out, so can't look at TABSB, and confess I missed both references in preparing Warfare. (Or don't recall them now.) But my gut feeling would be that the Moddell sector fleet would be pretty inconsequential, and that Death Squadron and the Emperor's personal fleet are probably one and the same, with the fleet often being handed to trusted commanders for special missions while the Emperor is cooling his heels on Coruscant.

Re Mandalore the Uniter, it was an accident. But a lucky accident. NT and the Mercs are awesome folks, and I'm very glad it worked out the way it did.

Yeah, the Moddell sector fleet would presumably be among the weaker ones in the Empire. Not only due to it's remote location, but I imagine that Palpatine didn't want to draw attention to the region, which a larger sector fleet would of done. The Executor and the other Star Destroyers of the Death Squadron probably formed the core the Endor fleet, with additional elite starships and some ISD's drawn from the Moddell fleet making up the balance. I like the idea of the two battlecruisers arriving at Endor as part of Palpatine's personal escort. I imagine both of those vessels probably came from the Core, perhaps even from Imperial Center.

I'm hoping at least one of them were from the Moddell fringe forces.

And as everybody who's played Rebellion knows, Imperials get a leadership bonus while the Emperor is on Coruscant. The defeat at Endor (if there were such a battle, which there wasn't) only happened because His Imperial Majesty had left the capital.

The cutscence of the Rebel fleet heading to Coruscant is pretty awesome. Even you have to admit that. :p

It's my favorite cutscene in the game, despite all the stinky Rebels. Coruscant is pretty--and it's old school, pre-PT Coruscant at that.

At least, up until the end when that stupid ship performs vandalism. Barbarous Rebels, no respect for history.

Considering the make-up of other inconsequential Outer Rim sector fleets, I think there's a practically zero chance that a battlecruiser would be present, unless it was part of a DSII defense force - and even then, that would be chancy as the relocation of major assets would be a tip-off to the Rebellion that Something Was Up in Moddell Sector. Let's also not forget that Moddell isn't even a whole sector - it's a subsector of Zuma.

In any case, I'm checking the TABSB - I see a reference here: "Considering the remoteness of the Endor system, the Death Star, the Executor and the Emperor's personal fleet were the only significant Imperial forces within light years." (p. 13)

There's also a reference to a "absence of a coordinating sector authority" on p. 14.

I'm not finding any reference to Moddell Sector forces at Endor in the TABSB.

Maybe the battlecruisers were part of a mobile task force, so it wouldn't be strange to loose track of them as they scoured the Galaxy for some rebel scum. It would be hard to track all of the Empire's ships, considering how utterly gigantic the Navy really is ;)

Otherwise, maybe there is one planet or an important point of interest in this remote sector that warranted protection from a battlecruiser under the service of a local entity or planetary government and the Empire commandeered it.

Since the permanent core of Death Squadron was one dreadnought and about six Imperials, that could be it.

Doing a run-down on the Republic/Imperial battlecruiser distribution:

    * Dozens in the Core and Colonies, two models known, multiple subclasses on one (pre-CW Republic).
    * The Quaestor led a task force deep into a Separatist region within Calamari Space, destroyed (CW).
    * The Battalion fought in the Phelleem sector (post-CW). Later reassigned to Dalchon sector to hunt pirates and scuttled/destroyed (pre-Yavin).
    * Unknown Praetor scuttled and later scavenged by Rebels for its reactors. Reactors transported to Hoth (pre-Battle of Hoth).
    * The Helmsman led a huge armada from the Valtha Divide to Coruscant. Was badly damaged, but remained functional (post-Hoth).
    * Unknown other battlecruisers anchoring armadas during similar missions on the fringes of Imperial space (Imperial era).
    * Multiple Star Cruiser models, including the Allegiance-class, in service at various locations. Allegiances observed docking with Naval Station Validusia (Imperial era).
    * "Destroyers and battle cruisers" built at Kuat during lead-up to Battle of Endor.
    * Ilthmar's Fist and Pride of Tarlandia, providing heavy support and comm duty at the Battle of Endor.
    * Thalassa, destroyed at Moorja by Nebulon-B frigates and Y-wings (post-Endor).
    * Luminous, Stellar Halo and Event Horizon, guarding Kuat (post-Endor). During a battle there, the Event Horizon was taken over by New Republic virus, the Luminous was disabled by ion weaponry, the Stellar Halo was sent into sun by Imperial sabotage.
    * The Star Cruiser Allegiance is destroyed over Dac (Operation Shadow Hand).
    * Other Star Cruisers seen at Byss and escorting the Eclipse at the Battle of Pinnacle Moon (Operation Shadow Hand).

That's all I could count for now. :-B

EDIT: There's a quote from the TFUII databank about the Imperial dropship transport. Among some of the impressive things a Stormtrooper saw during his service (the dropship transports bringing supplies and reinforcements being the major highlight): "I've seen Star Destroyers tear apart a battlecruiser with just tractor beams."
Rogue governor getting slammed by the Imperial authority?

Great list, other than the numerous types of battlecruiser classes that should be serving in the Imperial and Planetary Navies :)

But I do think you got them all. The only others ones I would throw in there are the Marvel comics battlecruisers, they deserve recognition as their own class and not just be known as a poorly drawn ISD's.

That quote is a good one, I never usually look at too many of the video game extras, but I was glad I did that time.

The following sentences are also fun: "I've seen command ships so big they take three days to walk from end to end. I even saw Lord Vader once." :p

So, the spaceball command ship is canon?

"The ship's too big. If I walked the movie would be over."

Hah. Yeah, I think you'd be able to traverse the Executor in at least under a day at brisk pace. Galaxy At War had modules in place to create huge warships and military space stations for settings. Maybe it's something like that, a mini-Death Star, maybe? [face_thinking]

Lets put the average walking speed at 3.0 miles per hour for 3 days that gives us a 216 mile long command ship. [face_praying] The EGTW wasn't kidding when it said massive battleships defended the core:D

He properly took regular coffee breaks and kept walking in circles. ;) Though if we wan't to go by TFU quotes, the one about Star Destroyers ripping apart battle cruisers using just tractor beams is rather fun.
