Well, they'll still have to pay as much attention as they ever did. With lobbyists.

Yeah I'm sure this would totally have failed if it had been out in the open. Congress definitely doesn't kowtow to large agriculture corporations on a regular basis.

And yet I'm sure our lives will go on as they have been.

But you don't understand, Tunes, these seeds that haven't been found to have any dangerous effects could potentially be shown to have dangerous effects by studies funded by some large corporations and then shown to not have any dangerous effects at all by studies funded by other large corporations and our government will be powerless to repeal this incredibly minor provision the would be easily repealed in the face of overwhelming public uproar. AMERICA IS DOOMED!

Monsanto owns the federal government and most of our food supply.

In other news, water is wet. (And probably owned by Monsanto.)

Does this mean I should farm my own food?

If you actually read the bill, you'll see that it lets farmers not have to destroy their crops while waiting for an investigation to finish.

But don't let that stop the anti GMO scaremongering!

Ya'll have been eating GMO crap all your life. Everyone is just crying about it now because The EU said no. But they too, have been growing it for years. They only way you're gonna eat 'pure food 'is if you live in the middle of nowhere and you forage or grow your own and good luck with that even.

I met a woman in Monsanto. I don't want to say it was love at first sigh, but it was close. We spent the evening laughing and dancing, dancing and laughing. We spent the night making love, finally falling asleep at dawn. When I awoke, she was gone. Her side of the bed still warm and smelling of Old Spice. I never saw her again, but now and then, in a crowded room I almost feel like I catch a glimpse.

it's not anti-science. it's anti them not having to answer to anyone about whether what they're putting on the market is actually safe or not, and only needing to test said products for six months which gives no indication as to potential long term effects of said products. so exaggerate/denigrate/insinuate all you want, but it is a legitimate concern.

How about actually reading what the bill says?

The thing that makes the anti- GMO stance anti-science is that all the scientific evidence so far points to GMOs not being harmful. However conspiratards completely ignore that.
